I'm honestly at the point where I just report every person with a Chinese name. Playing on a server with 400+ ping and benefitting from it is basically cheating anyway. Even if it doesn't do anything, it makes me feel better.
This is why I don't understand PU's response to people wanting region locks and basically calling anyone who is sick of their servers being largely full of Asian players bigots/racist, but then going on to say they are looking in to implementing a ping lock system which will basically do the same thing? I mean his responses to every controversy make it seem like he doesn't have much in the way of critical thinking skills but I don't see how he can't see that this is an issue and just does his usual thing of being laser focused on one small aspect of the community response (acting like people are calling all Asians cheaters even though it has been made very clear people are sick of not just the cheating but the fact that the game sucks ass playing against people with 400 ping)
At the very least you should only be able to queue for a region unless partied with a friend in said region, if you are queuing in a different region not because you are playing with someone from that region then you are purposefully degrading the game experience for everyone imo. Yes it wouldn't be a bulletproof solution considering vpns/proxies but it would be enough to stop the average joe and put a band aid on the issue til they can sort their ping lock system or whatever out.
nah i dont have anyone to play with. theres one guy that added me after a game but hes really fucking annoying and i hate playing with him because he doesnt shut the fuck up.

I'm down for a game or two after work tomorrow if you're down
i finish looting with some good gear, go to pick up my team mates they both look at me then light me up
I mean I do like to torture random cheaters on my team, sometimes they go rogue but someone else will put them down, and up and down.
Though even if I get a random chinese player speaking loud gibberish with the sounds of a legion in the background and shooting at things they seem to think you need to grab (excellent stealth my friend) as long as they're playing legit I leave them be, killing teammates that aren't into the joke is just a dick move.
So, I played like 4 or 5 matches of this game so far and haven't managed to kill anyone yet.
I did manage to get to place 8 on my most recent match though. Is that normal?
Interesting to say the least:

Me and my mates died to a hacker yesterday, we were a bit confused by the killcam as not only did they lock on to us through walls but also shot us through walls too. Not sure how common this is but I am guessing this is just somehow exploiting how clientside the hit reg is?

Literally just had that 30 mins ago. Dropped in military base, some guy was wiping everyone in the area out super fast. On killcam he was inside a building just locking on and shooting people through walls.
Basically yeah, afaik the game does very little to actually validate shots. After all when the infamous buildings not loading in bug was there you could just gun people down through walls freely if they were in a building that hadn't loaded in. Similarly before they froze your client for lagging out you could just toggle your net off, find someone and shoot/punch them then toggle net back on and instakill them regardless of how far away you were from them.
Moral of the story.
Stop fucking trusting the client.

Counter strike perfected serverside hitreg
Why does nobody else apply what they learned :/
I actually like the fact that hackers can shoot through walls it makes the reporting an easier job.
If you were to face to face all the time it'd be hard to find them.
Counter strike perfected serverside hitreg

The two aren't really comparable.
Counter Strike relies on hitscans, which can be performed in a single tick realistically. PUBG and other games with actual ballistics models require multiple ticks to calculate a shot.
Countre Strike is designed for relatively small player counts with a reasonably simplistic map, and can therefore run at a higher tickrate. That and you can throw as much or as little computing power at a server as you like. PUBG has to process ~100 players a tick on a map where players are much more spread out, constrained to whatever cloud resources have been provisioned.
PUBG shouldn't be trusting the client at all, it would likely make the game feel even more janky on the ludicrously low tick rate that it runs on currently, but it's got to be better than the server just believing the client. But that doesn't mean that the game can have it's networking and client-server model compared to something like CS really, the two are vastly different use cases.
The market place for PUBG has started getting me into selling my old Dota 2 and CSGO gear. Such a gateway marketplace.
Also had a really good game with the revolver the other night.

I did it, my first ever chicken dinner - and I was AFK for 50% of the round too, with a level 3 helmet, backpack and armor. What the fuck.
replays crashing the client for anyone else?

like every single time as opposed to the normal amount
Is it reasonable to expect market prices to go up near the end of the week since the in game crate BP prices reset on Monday, thus causing an inflow of crates/gear into the market that slowly goes down as the week continues? It would make sense that as the week goes on, supply will go down causing an increase of prices around the weekend?
Or naw?

Judging by the Gamescom crates, the prices will just continue to nervously go down until they're unavailable

i'll add you soon, getting my pc back at my house tomorrow.

Unfortunately since the first real round of key crates got cashed in on sunday and this weekend will mark the end of the hold on the sale of those items i'm assuming they'll depreciate significantly.

There's a hold on the sale of items form the Desperado crates?
Nah I think just anything you open from a crate you can't sell it for 1 week
Nah I think just anything you open from a crate you can't sell it for 1 week
Not really. Only if the key or the crate you opened was unmarketable to begin with. If you had the key already (it's literally the same key as the one for gamescom crates, you could buy it in advance) and got the crate for BP you could sell it from day 1.
Ah that makes sense
Mentioned this on the discord yesterday but I applied a little quick maths about Map 3
It was first mentioned in June 2017's GameInformer issue, and according to Brendan Greene himself a new map takes around "6 to 9 months" to make from scratch, meaning we could be hearing about Map 3 by April, maybe even be on the test servers by then. I'm really hoping Map 3 ends up being more interesting than the current 2, but ehhhhh it'll likely not be much different
So long as it's not a sightseeing travel simulator like Miramar it's hard to do any worse. Pretty map, but you might as well be alone in the game world until the last 5 or so players because the map is just too sparse and open.
Miramar needs 200 players to have the same kind of tense action feel as Erangel in my opinion. Can spend an entire game just driving or running and never see another soul until the top 10 or 20, it's such a time sink.
I actually think the size of the map is fine, it's just that parachuting needs to carry you farther. The same goes for the old map, actually. With the travel distance nerf, you get more and more people clustering at just a few locations, which leads to the vast majority of the lobby dying in the first 5 minutes.
The funny part is that I'm pretty sure they had originally announced it to be smaller (at like 5x5 instead of 8x8 Km) which probably would have been a good size for it.
imagine if they made a map that was just a single city block and it was a vertical map rather than horizontal
imagine if they made a map that was just a single city block and it was a vertical map rather than horizontal
You gotta be fucking hardcore to survive on this map.
