finally won my first solo fpp match.

Finally managed to get proper squad match with 1 buddy and 2 other guys who were his buddies. We played on the US server and after the brief adjusting period, where I learned that my bullets take approximately five years before they land, we smashed some dicks.

Squads are really fun, damn.
The dream (got AR suppressor later)

I'm getting consistent dinners when landing Los Leones. Looting east side warehouses nets you killer loadouts and people don't usually go there.
Any other good places to land if Leones is not an option?

First solo chicken dinner, fuck yes
how are you all getting 5+ kills per match? i've been playing for months and i seldom get more than that.

typically with lots of bullets

Run toward the sound of gunfire and kill whoever's left while they're still distracted.

Drop into hotzones and don't stay the entire time in one house camping. Chances are, by the time you get out (if you get out), you'll have 4+ kills at least. And then just be generally aggressive, take shots, don't be afraid to breach houses etc. And then finale which is guaranteed few kills if you won't let everyone fight between themselves.
aim for the bodies with automatic weapons, recoil will just kick up towards the head and you're less likely to miss the torso
Been playing nothing but first person games since I upgraded my pc (was impossible before with an average 20-30 framerate). I thought what the hell, I'll play a third person match again for the fun of it as that's what I played from day one. Fuck me is it harder than I remembered. Everyone's peeking around corners and setting things up in ways that feel so unnatural once you've gone first person for a long period of time, I have no idea how I ever did so well. First person seems EASY by comparison...

That round was kinda insane in general. I dropped on the hacienda and killed at least 5 there. Literally had someone fall off a cliff and land in front of me. Picked off two guys running to new circle and not paying attention. Got another right after he killed someone else and hadn't patched up. And then got incredibly lucky with my positioning in the last few circles.
Almost all with a 2x Sks.

Yeah I'm finding the more I play first person the easier it seems in comparison to 3rd, its probably more to do with the fact that other people have really poor positioning and such and don't have the crutch of a camera to lean on.

no way, always aim for the head if you can. if you aim for the body you have a good chance of hitting limbs which does a pathetic amount of damage. aim for the upper torso/neck/head area for quick takedowns.
I managed to get to spot #2 in a match by doing absolutely nothing (Other than really punching 3 afk players to death, and turning on autorun). I wouldn't have been able to win since I had no armor, weapons, and my game wasn't running well.
I one day hope to get to spot #1 just by doing nothing.

In the earlier days of the Reddit when they did the flair challenges (idk if they still do) there was one for winning a game without killing anyone and quite a few people managed it, it's surprising how many people late game spaghetti out and die to the zone because they don't move in time and are too scared.

one time i joined a game and all but 18 other players left. i won the game without even seeing another player and the last guy died outside the play zone.
I should see if I can somehow get people to stay outside the zone just by shooting at them to scare them, not to kill them.

You can join a game mid-match? 60 hours in, and I have yet to do that...
Am I just missing something here, or do you guy not know that you can toggle first and third person by pressing "v"?
there are 2 game modes ya dingus
one of them is first person only
aim for the bodies with automatic weapons, recoil will just kick up towards the head and you're less likely to miss the torso
Shooting at the torso first doesn't make sense because you're wasting your most accurate shot(s) on the easiest region to hit. Shooting at the head then going to the torso makes more sense, although I'm pretty sure always aiming for the head regardless is optimal in this game.
Shooting at the torso first doesn't make sense because you're wasting your most accurate
From a min/max point of view it makes perfect sense to aim for the most vital regions.
That said, if he can't get 5 or so kills regularly, round placement isn't yet his strength.
When you're learning 100% of the damage you can do beats 0% of the damage you might do, connecting gives positive feedback, missing frustration.
Drop into the most populated zones and take the fight to other players, even if you die hundreds of times keep cool and have fun, master playing in the most uncomfortable and uncertain conditions and you won't get thrown off your game when it matters.
At first your aim isn't really as important as your awareness and your positioning, always give yourself the advantage -- this game isn't about honorable dueling, don't stand there -- move from tree to tree, rock to rock, change your position and firing angle frequently, use grenades to block/blind/move people out of their comfort.
At odd times aim can fail you, but you can still get tons of kills if you play smart, take the shots you can even if they're not perfect.
Eventually you'll find you can reliably scan for and kill people, then start moving to the finer tuning of aim, sensitivity, input lag or whatever you feel is holding you back.
At least this is the advice I'd give if you're looking for a more complete, less infuriating long term experience.

The torso isn't the most vital region though.
EDIT: Oh wait I think you're saying it's better for him to aim at the torso because he isn't accurate enough to hit the head consistently yet, but it's worded kind of oddly with what you quoted
EDIT: Oh wait I think you're saying it's better for him to aim at the torso because he isn't accurate enough to hit the head consistently yet
Not necessarily -aim just to the torso- but to take the shots he can even if it's just the leg (if it's the head even better) but yeah that's more or less it.
A bit of wisdom in shooters is the more frustrated you are the more likely you are to make mistakes which perpetuate the problem, so that doesn't make for a fun time.
We all want to get headshots but if you miss a lot you feel like you're punching air, the other way there's a "I'll do better next" component that's very helpful in a game with no training like PUBG.
I'd say the first 500 hours I spent in this game were dedicated to bettering my aim but I was shit in CQB and caved under the pressure when it mattered.
Looking back now I think the best starting point if you're not confident of your skill is just throwing yourself into the mix and iron out the details as it goes.
Getting off the panic zone is a strong foundation for whatever kind of playstyle you want to apply... and you know there IS a lot of good advice out there but when you try to push yourself to that standard it doesn't quite work that way and you run into odd pitfalls like "fuck this, this sucks, i'm not good enough" so you don't really want that.
Making the best of what you have will always push you higher, when you stop looking up and start looking ahead and competing with yourself is where the magic happens, and this is PUBG but I find that's true for a lot of games.

I disagree. I get better by not caring about what I "can" do and doing it anyways.
Got my first Chicken dinner today.
sometimes i get such great kills, then die later in the game like a chump.
i had a team of 3 chinese blokes this morning, they got gunned down when there was about 16 people left. there was 3 enemies that shot at them and i popped them with 6 consecutive headshots, the shit that makes you look like a hacker, with an sks.
i managed to res one but the others died because they were out of the playzone. later that game my last friend gets downed, 3 other people left (1 team of 2 and one solo), i've got a decked out groza and i just spray completely off target. so if i did get reported by the team i killed at least the evidence points towards me just being a lucky shit cunt.
[editline]24th January 2018[/editline]
i just can't believe i landed 6 headshots without missing a single shot. i never aim that fucking good.
So new update announced... funny to see their fix for poor pre-match performance and initial skydive is to... just remove more shit from the game world. Top class effort right there! The steam comments are a hoot though;

i wish bluehole would give us that free name change.
the amount of times i get team killed by homophobic cunts because my name is gay-man is astounding.
