DigitalFoundry did a reasonable analysis on the mobile version. It's suprisingly competent, but it is just an incredibly cut down version of the base game. It's missing a number of graphical features obviously, but there are also actual changes to the geometry to deal with having to render on such limited hardware. But yeah, it was headed up by Tencent, the Chinese publisher of the Chinese region PC version, there's no surprises that it's F2P, Tencent are a very fucking shady lot and rely on getting people to use their services to encourage micros and stuff rather than outright selling you a product.
The big question however is, does the mobile port support controllers? If I would like to play it on my phone, which I for some reason can't even though I have a fucking S8, I would much rather use a dedicated controller instead of using the cancer that it TOUCH CONTROLS

It's not made by Bluehole, it's managed by one of Tencent's studios.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dlgq-wQ8kPk I wish the other guy hadn't shot me, I wanted to see how far I might go
that's a skip for me, not that I would play it anyway. The game probably already uses the unity engine or something so why not just make controllers work
This game is the worst game I play on a weekly basis.
I tried the mobile version the day or so after it came out and played one game. Aiming felt pretty awful as expected, but everyone else I saw was worse at aiming. I ended up in the last 4 alive, near the center of the circle. I was standing in a bush and watched the Alive count drop as all of the other 3 people died from the playzone and I won by just standing there. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1663/4ef84e15-1575-4df9-b746-918768c533fe/image.png

This game is pissing me off so much because it's the only game that will crash my computer with a black screen and the GPU fans at 100%, every time I try to play. I might get a round in if I'm quick, but if I'm in a game too long it likes to just fucking crash.
Anyone get "servers are too busy" almost every single time, having to try again multiple times?
Pretty much non-stop
i finally got an item that's worth something from a crate, after 1300 hours. got the black military cap, which while it looks cool, i can sell it for like 40 bucks.
i teamed up with 4 dudes in solo off the cuff we called ourselves the "no pants squad" I got two drop crates.... good fuckin times
i wish i could go for more crates, but i'm rarely in a good enough position to go for them. the only ones i ever get are if they drop on my position. if they don't even if i only couldn't see it for one second its already been looted.
PUBG is basically RNG incarnate. I happened to get a chicken dinner on the first game I played earlier with random chinese squadmates who never spoke the entire match, just because the planets seemed to align and I landed on a building with a kar98, x8 scope, sr suppressor and cheekpad, and my entire squad somehow ended up with AR suppressors and the white circle kept landing on us starting on the third one. In the end, when 18 people were left we just had to defend a tiny compound from people coming down from one side and it was pretty much a massacre, with them desperately trying to smoke their way down the no man's land mountain rng just let a squad with no communication at all win thanks rnjesus
And for this exact reason, I really think that PUBG is not meant for Esports. Winning the game does require skill most of the time, but if you have a match between the best players in the world, and one group that "theoretically" is the best group, twice as good as the number 2, they could possibly land somewhere that's normally a high loot spot, but only get shotguns and SMGs, while the 2nd group finds only snipers, and the 2nd win the game on pure luck. CS:GO Esports I can get behind, because maps are always the same, you buy weapons based on how good you are, etc. Racing games Esports I can also get behind, because it's the same environment for everyone else (sorta), but PUBG just should stay the fuck away from Esports, really.
so how about that flare gun? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPE2sgFk47s
I think the flare gun is pretty cool, it adds more chances for someone to get crate weapons while being more of a risk in general due to the sound it makes and alerting everyone on the map. I hope it gets added to the main game very soon instead of custom games only.
Well yeah, my first match of the whole mobile game in solo, with gyroscope aim and almost 300ms of ping lol. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/371835022681833473/425449191704231946/Screenshot_20180319-211232.png
PUBG Mobile is pretty good as far as mobile games go, and I can't be arsed to play this game on PC anymore
I have never played pubg or fortnight or any other of those battleground-esque games before but the idea of a game like this running on a phone piqued my interest so today I played my first game of any battle royale ever https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110042/dae5ea56-3018-4862-b162-bb69949da287/Screenshot_20180320-114829.png
your first few games of pubg mobile are against bots btw
There's bots in the mobile version? Why the hell haven't they put that in the main game???
in contrast to this situation the other day today i played with my regular squad and we had real good shit going. communication was perfect, our flow was perfect, we were murdering one squad after the other, when the game decided to blow up one of our vehicles taking two of our squad with it(including me :c) with the red zone. we were like fine ok it happens rng yeah u guys can do it, tHEN THE OTHER TWO MEMBERS OF OUR SQUAD GOT BLOWN UP BY THE RED ZONE IN THE MIDDLE OF A FIREFIGHT ONE CIRCLE LATER rng just told us to fuck off pretty much for 4 straight games later we kept dying in hot drop zones without ever getting to touch a single goddamn AR. it was either a shotgun, a pistol, or bare fists, and whenever we did get to shoot someone with a shotgun i swear to god 70% of the time our goddamn shots dont ever register and it takes at least 3 fuckin center mass shotgun shots to kill somebody(which means death if ure using the double barreled one). most inconsistent weapon in the game ffs. and i swear shotgun headshots never count unless its the enemy using it wish i could grab all those replays but i play in cybercafes with my friends most of the time so we can scream at each other in real life so its kinda a pain to do that
theres a bunch of features in the mobile version that arent in the main game, its made by a different company it has a shooting range, more detailed stats, plane path on map and distance from markers, parachute skins, daily missions/login rewards, level ups with progression, and actual ping
So this just popped up on steam: Horizon Source(天际起源) on Steam It appears to be a free to play chinese PUBG with character classes, which actually does sound somewhat interesting.
pubg mobile is such a joke, it is very playable and fun but the way you win is just so lame. I autorun into the zone the zone every time without looking for any weapon, camp in a building with some pistol and kill only those that actually are in the way. I won three out of four times now and that without doing anything. Also I broke the game, gonna upload the vid soon as it was very odd.
Wow, PUBG mobile sounds better than the actual game. I seriously feel like PUBG devs need to just sit down and release an entire update full of QOL fixes and or optimization. As a side note, though, I have been playing the game a lot more lately and I forgot how much I enjoy playing it. It's a toss up between Fortnite and PUBG but I really enjoy just casually wreckin nerds, as opposed to the tryharding I do in Siege.
They really should remake the game from scratch on another engine, it's like they're trying to build a skyscraper on toothpicks.
