Mass Effect Megathread: "I'm sorry, my face is tired from dealing with everything."
Aren't the 'marines' in Mass Effect just the ground soldiers of the Alliance Navy? There's no reason to assume they use the American conventions for military divisions.
Also Ashley doesn't become a Lieutenant Commander until after ME1, so Kaiden actually outranks her for the first game. She calls him "Lt" and "Sir" when she suggests that she should join the Salarian team instead of him.
Based on how they're used they seem to operate as the Marine Corps of the US/UK so I'd think they do follow those traditions/conventions.
So because NG+ carries your inventory over, it sequence breaks the Movie Night quest.
Nice.

How does it break it, and is there a way to avoid it?

As soon as you talk to Lexi, you give her the alcohol as part of it. Which then activates Movie Night: The Final Piece. Upon talking to Liam, you're pointed towards Kadara. I don't know if you can prematurely complete that part though. There's no way to avoid it, as you can't lose the asari alcohol out of your inventory, and progression is just keyed to the item, not quest progression.
NG+ doesn't seem that well thought out in this one in general.
You don't get to keep inventory space increases(which could lead to you having more items than you could possibly hold in the prologue so you can't pick anything up, and because it's the prologue you can't access the inventory at all) and during the part in the prologue where [sp]Papa Ryder dies your broken helmet is just the default one no matter what colors you set your armor to.[/sp]
It is cool that you can re-edit your appearance and choose which Ryder you play as, though.
The general public don't understand the difference between soldiers and Marines.
On that note, it really bugs me that Ashley's uniform was designed to be an "officer uniform", but not only is there no other uniform like it, it looks nothing like a military uniform; or how Kaidan wears ordinary fatigues despite being of equal grade; and how Ashley goes from being a Gunnery Sergeant as a Marine to Lieutenant Commander in the Navy.
The Alliance Marines are part of the Alliance Navy. And as the Alliance Marines are the designated ground forces they're also soldiers. The general public, in terms of mass effect, are correct in using both soldier and marine to describe them. Real-world equivalent nomenclature is irrelevant.

With the new, higher capacity for inventory, if you have over 100 Items, what the fuck are you doing? I've honestly been hovering around 50 items for a long time now and I don't really feel like I need to have more shit on me.
I hope we get more armor sets soon. There seems to be only 2-3 sets worth using compared to the 9 (11 if you count the preorder skins) ingame.
I wanted the Ajax armor to return.
I really don't know what to think of Peebee at this point, even if I'm still going to romance her.
Her opinions on the Asari Ark on Voeld were extremely, uncharacteristically callous from her part.
Also, the [sp]topless scene[/sp] involving Liam and Jaal (whatever his name is) is one of those instances in Andromeda where I understand what the writers were trying to going for, but the whole thing is just too damn hawkward I don't get it at all
What does "hawkward" mean? Is it a crappy combo of Hot and Awkward?

By "general public" I meant BioWare wouldn't understand the distinction and therefore it reflects it in the game. But I see your point. As someone in the military, it's one of those things I happen to notice (like in Advanced Warfare the Marines at the funeral all have the blood stripe on their trousers despite many of them are not non-commissioned officers :v:)

Naw it's a spell to ward against hawks.

But all those weapon mods I don't use! Also do special items take up inventory space? Ive bought like every model I've come across but they're all still in my inventory.
As a Marine, I certainly don't like being compared to a soldier in the Army for numerous reasons. :P
Good for you, if you have the time at some point do send me a message on the subject cause legit quick googling hasn't really convinced me that Marines are not soldiers.
Taxonomically speaking, humans are apes. Most humans may not like that, but we all are factually and objectively apes, despite our higher brain functions and all that jazz. We are also vertebrates and mammals.
Similarily, marines are soldiers, soldiers are humans, and humans are apes.
edit:
oh god this is off topic yeah no not commenting on this anymore.

I started new game plus before that update.
edit: And it doesn't matter either way, the inventory being able to be overfilled like that and having nothing to do about it until the prologue is over because of an oversight like that is just bad.

I'm such a great shepard, brough Legion to [sp]Tali's Trial[/sp].

I'm still equal parts amused and irritated that extraordinary characters like Legion and Javik never really got much astonishment from the general public. You'd think a talking, near-sentient Geth unit and an actual living Prothean would merit more than "Oh, well would you look at that."
Being unable to take Javik to the council is such a missed opportunity.
I decided to pick andromeda up now there's a patch through.
Why do omnitools look like chunky orange chocolate bars now?
I mean I don't mind some shit about the original design but it's fucking massive in comparison.

I honestly prefer the sleeker, smaller version of the newer one.
It being a big ol' orange gauntlet is what gave it its charm though.
I swear the Andromeda one is sometimes huge, too. Honestly I don't like the new small design at all.
The original looked like a big, cool holographic readout. The new one looks weirdly more physical, and dull.

Not to mention it looks like it's glitched 24/7. Then again every hologram in the game looks like ass, so maybe their technology just somehow regressed during their 600-year-long voyage.

The problem here is that the new design doesn't seem it has been dictated by a precise artistic choice, but just the desire to save time and animation budget

I think it's side effect from Temporal Anti-Aliasing, it creates ghosting effect in many games lately.
Given that Temporal Anti-Aliasing works on a frame by frame basis, if you let the game set for a second then move, the ghosting becomes more apparent, but TAA is alot better than what it used to be anyway, it doesn't lose (too much) detail anymore.

I sincerely doubt that it would take substantially less time to make a big arm wrapping gauntlet, especially since they already have that asset for the omni-blade. It was a distinctly artistic decision.
