Mass Effect Megathread: "I'm sorry, my face is tired from dealing with everything."

I've heard of these games of course but never played them. Now I have Mass Effect 2 free from Origin. I've seen that there are tons of mods for it. So my plan is to load up some choice mods and give it a go. Better late than never. I suspect I'll do what I always do, spend more time trying out mods than actually playing the game.

Hahaha.
Well, mind as well. Andromeda apparently used some new form of Denuvo to make it uncrackable. Last night, however, it got cracked, it took a total of 13 days. Thought that was interesting.

man you put way too much effort into this lol

Can this be put in the OP? As I don't think there are any other FP discords for ME.
Man it's such a disappointed that the Krogan don't sound anything like Krogan. Hell, most of the Turians don't sound Turian to me either. :(
I'm still confused why they went through the effort of making that prop Avenger variant without making it an actual gun.
It's like some weird opposite Bethesda syndrome. Remember the original Skyrim reveal where they showed off Bleak Falls Barrow, the dragon claw puzzle door, and the dragon stone at the end?
That claw and stone are dummied out props in the game files that you can still add and carry. For some reason, in the final game, the golden claw and dragon stone you get are separate ones, visually identical, but marked to work for the quest. Why did they do it this way? Todd only knows.
I've been saving footage of glitches and memorable moments to compile into a video when I beat the game.
So far I've gotten like 55gb of clips. Fuck.

You can also still access the E3 version of Bleak Falls Barrow separately via console commands, they never removed the map from the game.

You think? For me it was the Krogans and Salarians. They just sound strange.
So there's two quests for me that bugged out for me in this game.
Reformation [sp]requires me to talk to an unmarked NPC on Voeld and I have no idea who it is[/sp]
Contagion [sp]just flat out stopped after I tracked down the sick woman across the Nexus. Like it told me to go to Operations, I went there, and the quest disappeared from my logs altogether[/sp]
For Contagion [sp]there's a customs desk near the observation deck. If you exit the Tempest, it's straight from there.[/sp]
I feel happy knowing that the only actual glitches I've gotten in the game have been either the enemies spawn in the rocks a few times. Sometimes them REMAINING INVISIBLE (Kett only) after the Destined smoke grenade finishes.

This Thursday, we’ll release a new patch that addresses technical fixes (crashes, improved performance), but also adds a number of improvements we’ve heard you ask for, such as:
Allowing you to skip ahead when travelling between planets in the galaxy map
Increasing the inventory limits
Improving the appearance of eyes for humans and asari characters
Decreasing the cost of remnant decryption keys and making them more accessible at merchants
Improving localized voice over lip sync
Fixing Ryder’s movements when running in a zig zag pattern
Improving matchmaking and latency in multiplayer
Over the next two months we’ll be rolling out additional patches which will go even deeper and look to improve several areas of the game:
More options and variety in the character creator
Improvements to hair and general appearance for characters
Ongoing improvements to cinematic scenes and animations
Improvements to male romance options for Scott Ryder
Adjustments to conversations with Hainly Abrams

Mostly things that should have been there on release...

Better late than never, honestly. All of these are good changes, and I'm glad they're not just letting the game's faults stay there. Although, this and FFXV are setting REALLY bad precedents for the industry of "release sub-par, fix later."
Either way.
I just did the [sp]Turain Ark quest. It was really interesting. Avitus is a really cool character, I hope we get to see him develop more in sequels or DLC.[/sp] Also, Liam is growing on me. The way he sends you emails with a shitload of songs and pictures afterwards to help you work through stuff is adorable.
I did [sp]Cora's sidequest/Asari Ark quest[/sp] this morning, and I think that maybe [sp]Cora studied with Asari Commandos. I'm not entirely sure, but she dropped some subtle hints occasionally[/sp].

Yeah I don't think Liam's as bad as people make him out to be.

But have you read the manuals ???
Just finished the main quest. Here are my thoughts, spoilered in case you don't care.
[sp]Andromeda is a...strange game. I did enjoy it, though. But it was certainly a strange one.
It was buggy, had terrible animations, and some pretty bad loading times. But at the same time, I still found myself immersed in an enjoyable, interesting, and beautiful world with some seriously loveable characters.
Sure, the writing was eclectic, with shit like Hainly Abrams, but then there was also the comical romp of Liam's loyalty mission. While the Kett = Angara plot twist was heavily telegraphed, there were still some awesome twists, like in Ryder Family Secrets.
The environment design and lighting were absolutely fantastic. Some of the most fun I had was just adventuring on planets, either on-foot or with the Nomad.
Maybe I'm just easily amused, but half the time I found the shitty facial animations' narmy enough that they didn't bother me.
The gameplay was a hell of a lot of fun, and Ryder's versatility adds a lot. Just makes me wish we had an Armax Arena or something to experiment in.
Personally, I would've liked to see a bit more of the Trilogy's grim brutality. A central theme was sacrifice, and the inability to save everyone. Regardless of your decisions, Shepard would wind up making several hard sacrifices and likely wind up doing some pretty awful things.
As cool as the Angara are, there were a lot more interesting angles they could've done for First Contact. How about stumbling upon a sapient race that's still in the "Caveman" state of society, and being forced to choose between ignoring them and losing a habitable world, trying to settle on their planet and risk fucking up their evolution, or just straight-up wiping them out for the sake of your own people?
At times, it felt a bit like a Bethesda joint. Although that being said, I enjoy Bethesda's games in spite of their flaws, as I do this.
It wasn't everything I hoped for, and while I'm not sure it was the Mass Effect I know and love, I still thought it was a great game, I still had a great time, and I still want to play it again.[/sp]
I think the game handles the [sp]reapers[/sp] pretty well too.
[sp]It's nice that most people just flat out don't know about it, with Suvi making mentions of the Geth studying something in dark space without knowing what, and with Alec discovering more and more about shit that went down in secret. It's nice that it takes a lot of effort and time to actually even hear someone call the reapers by name.[/sp]

Legitimately surprised but happy they're actually going through with improving the game's technical problems post-release.
hopefully they put map markers on the additional tasks, even if it's just for really large search areas.
I'm so excited they're going to tackle weapon and enemy balance. Multiplayer currently feels like dogshit unless you're playing melee vanguard/lugging a Vanquisher around
Call me pessimistic but I won't be satisfied until I see video before/after comparisons on that lip sync change.
Foster Addison is my most relived character from Mass Effect: Andromeda this far.
If we are even willing to put aside her, shall we say, limited animation department (something I find unacepptable in what is supposed to be a major character of the story), she's clearly a woman utterly incompetent at her job who also makes no secret about trying to manipulate you to have her way. And, at least at the stage I am in the main questline, it seems like nothing I do is going to change that
Addison gets better. She doesn't become good, but she gets better.
I just really want to see new/better faces, I have 400 hours in New Vegas, I can look past bad animation but its extra distracting if every single character outside of the ship has the same face, you go to an area thats heavily populated by 1 type of species and its just a clone army painted different colours
So I just wish I could have facial hair that is a different color than whatever fucking eclectic color I put in Scott's hair.
[Sp]Is Shepard even mentioned anywhere in the game? I know you can select whether they are a man or woman but I never heard anyone acknowledge them [/sp]
Fiends in multiplayer are so unbelievably unfun.

[sp]Shepard is mentioned in Alec Ryder's memories. The gender choice just determines whether people say he or she.[/sp]

FTFY.
They're a tank with more health than pretty much anything else and they only have 4 attacks. 2 of which are part of a combo (charge and smash) and one is a dumb instakill.
I though it was universally agreed that the instakill attacks in ME3 are bullshit. Why bring them back? Just make them do a lot of damage or something.
