Does uhh.. does elemental support damage stack? Like if I have three, 25% fire damage gems connected to arrow rain, would it be +75%?
No.
An attack always deals Physical Damage, however the mobs can have a mod that for example adds Fire damage to their attacks. In this case you can lower the damage of that attack by having Armour and Fire resist. If a mob is a spellcaster, for example the Spark casting skelletons in Chamber of Sins Level 3, these do only Lightning damage. I've seen a guy claiming his character was bugged. He had the Chaos Innoculation Keystone (Max. life becomes 1, immune to Chaos Damage), and was getting shot by those Poison Arrow skelletons and still took damage. Poison Arrow is an attack so there's always Physical damage involved too. Being immune to the Chaos damage part of Poison Arrow doesn't make you immune to the Physical damage too, which is why he still took damage from the Physical damage portion.
What would you recommend for a CI witch, how should I spec to increase my survival? I'm also going to try being a minion master kind of build, but it that won't work I'll respec into more elemental damage build. Also, just to clarify, there is absolutely no way in the game for mobs to damage me if I have ES on, right? if I have 1 health and more than 2,000 ES, I don't need to worry about a mob somehow bypassing the shield and killing me on the spot, right?

Mobs can obviously still damage your Energy shield with all other Damage types. Keep in mind that Energy Shield only regens after you don't take damage for a while, but there are nodes to decrease that cooldown though. If you're going to go Energy Shield based, best is to carry a Ruby flask that dispels burning. If you're on fire, the burn prevents your energy shield from regening for as long as you're on fire. Also, 2000 ES is very low for a CI build, you should try aiming for at least 5000+ ES, which shouldn't be too hard to achieve. Your chestpiece and shield are your main sources of ES, so try to get a lot of ES on those. There are several nodes that increase the defenses from shields too, these boost your ES up by a lot, so you should get at least a few of them once you get a good ES Shield.
Just started my first Nemesis(Hardcore) character :v: I'm really curious about how far I will get, I managed to do Cruelty on my Spectral Throw Scion without dying, but I'm playing a completely different class and build from what I have played previously.
I lost my lv 36 Scion on Nemesis to one of those Rare Berserker Devourer worms. I was cursed with Temporal Chains and it chased me down, when I finally thought I outran it and survived with 160 HP I had the chance to quickly log out and be safe, but I thought "fuck that I'll have to run all the way back to where I was, let me just tp ou--" that's where the giant fucking worm popped out of the ground again and killed me rip, and lesson learned: dont fuck with the worms in Hedge Maze :v:

So I just found out that a refund point only refunds just 1 passive skill point, and not the whole skills you've invested.. HOLY SHIT! And I thought respecing wouldn't be THAT hard.
So I just found out that a refund point only refunds just 1 passive skill point, and not the whole skills you've invested.. HOLY SHIT! And I thought respecing wouldn't be THAT hard.
You get around 14 respec points from quest rewards iirc, the remaining ones you'll have to get with Orbs of Regret.
Well, I just died on Normal Nemesis because I walked into a room with a totem that lets allies not die paired with another totem that added attack speed for allies. And I JUST found a gauntlet with 3 linked red sockets. The sadness, it overwhelms me. I'm gonna play some other day. A.K.A tomorrow
Make a dominating blow build and get revenge by converting the totems. (It's so funny because it actually works on "cannot die" totems)
I had a bug when killing Dominus I nearly fucking died too but we killed him and then the quest bugged out Didn't let me complete it...
Seriously, that happened to me 6 fucking times on saturday, very annoying.
So I just found out that a refund point only refunds just 1 passive skill point, and not the whole skills you've invested.. HOLY SHIT!
I'll link you a guide for a better version of that build. I'm up to level 22 Nemesis and not been near death once, even with 1 unique and 2 rares fighting me at once. http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/73072
Thanks, I'm rolling with this now. Brutus went down after 8 Heavy Strikes like a little bitch. He couldn't do SHIT.
Pretty informative video for those that want to give Hardcore / Nemesis a try. ZiggyD makes some really good PoE videos, his channel is worth checking out.
I found facebreaker gloves this Is great since I wanted to make a Shadow next
MrFlashcat I am having a hard time surviving cruel act 3 with that rain of arrows build any suggestions? [editline]29th October 2013[/editline] Thinking of going Lightning arrow. [editline]29th October 2013[/editline] At the moment i am kind of a hybrid Rain Of/Lightning Arrows On Rain of Arrows+Life Leech+Weapon Elemental Damage+Concentrated Effect On Lightning Arrow+44% Increased Rarity+Chain+Lesser MP On Frenzy+Faster Attacks+Point Blank I am just having a hard time getting that rain of arrows down to heal would it make much of a difference if i used Lightning Arrow+Chain+Lesser MP+Leech Life+Weapon Ele Dmg In my head it seems like a win win because im using Lightning Arrow as main atm hopefully it will work.
I played a bit of this during the beta, never really played a game like that before so i felt pretty lost and wasn't too sure if i should keep playing with that character after they get killed in hardcore. I think after a few characters lost i ditched the game since i couldn't get further than where i got, i think the most far i got was the boss of the prison area who fucked me right royal. Played a bit of Torchlight 2 now and I'm more comfortable with this style of game now, I'm going to give this another shot, but I'm not sure if i should continue with a "dead" character or scrap them every time they get murdered for whatever reason.

Get used to the game before tackling it's most difficult part.

The further you get into the game, the more you'll have to grind exp in order to keep up in levels. Try to stay at least a couple levels ahead of the area level. Good zones to farm are Ledge, Fellshrine, Chamber of Sins lv 1, City of Sarn, Docks. You can create new instances of these zones by Control + Clicking the area and selecting New Instance, that way you can keep farming the same zone over and over again. The end of Cruel / start of Merciless is where a lot of players start hitting that brick wall and feel like they can't advance anymore. Around that part it's best to try and upgrade your gear, items you used 10-15 levels ago aren't going to last forever. How much HP do you have atm? What's your armor and resistances at?
I haven't played it in ages, don't remember when though. So i might just start from scratch with the Witch again, since that's what got me so far in the first place before whats-his-face ripped my face off. When i start again I'll keep going even after that first death and kick his face in when i get to him. I think he was Brutus or something? Edit: I just noticed that previous message was not for me, Whoops.

My ranger also took care of him pretty easily, just kited him with traps and a few burning arrows every now and then, he didn't have a chance. On that note, how many characters can one account have?

If you do well/get lucky, you'll be able to do the league's challenges and might end up finding unique loot from it. If not, then you'll simply drop in standard.
On that note, how many characters can one account have?
I don't think there is a limit, but I never tried it.

You can learn about builds that way without having to think too carefully, like you do in hardcore. Think of a really funny dicking-around type of a build, test if it works, and if you feel comfortable enough try to improve it in Hardcore.

The idle guy with poor equipment is the king of nigeria and he shocks people? As a maurader with a fair bit of dexterity with his strength, is an armour with very high armour rating better to use than an armour with a lower armour rating but with a bit of evade?
On that note, how many characters can one account have?
it should still be 24 unless they changed it

I found my comfort zone Heavy strike with blood magic, life steal and melee splash. I don't think i will put enough effort into getting good rares/uniques :v:

Wow a friend and I just got a Divine Orb at the Fetid Pool on our new characters :pwn:
