haste wouldnt really benefit CA (they renamed it caustic arrow because they hate us) that much aside from movement speed so unless u really need that you'd be better served by some other aura - a purity to get yourself ele weak capped if u arent already, grace, iunno what else. AA, just for the chilled ground, since you wont be standing still much? up 2 u. obv if u want to run haste go for it but its not optimal

I'd really like to see them make more alternate skill effects instead of armor sets. Armor effects make your character look nice (or ridiculous, aka: anybody who glows brighter than my Christmas tree), but they can completely change the way an ability feels to use.
Like, the main reason I haven't played a summoner is because I hate the way the zombies look/move/sound. That Statues skin for the skeletons is rad-- pop a similar one out there for zombies (mummies ain't cutting it). An alternate affect for Raging Spirits that lets you summon the ribbons from Solaris temple, or maybe glowing wisps instead of skulls. Neat.
I reckon armor sets are probably easier to develop than alternate skill effects, but skill effects are just cooler.
I think armour sets are pretty hard to make actually, they've gotta sort of have different meshes for each character's body shape
I think really it's just that armour sets sell better. skill effects only interest people who actually use the skill so they might not be as popular
At least we're finally getting an ice-themed armour set. I had a lot of cool arctic effects that just couldn't fit with any of the existing armour sets
New Features:
You can now Ctrl-Click talismans into stone circles from your inventory and back again.
Talismans now display their tier as part of their item information.
Stone Circles now display some brief instructions on their use.
Added Talisman-to-Maker: Talismans generated by Stone Circles now allocate to the player who activated the Stone Circle, if an item allocation mode is active.
The spawn chances of Stone Circles have been increased. They have a 100% chance to spawn in the Western Forest, the Hedge Maze, and the Dried Lake. The Ledge has a 100% chance to spawn one in Cruel and Merciless. The Imperial Gardens have a 60% chance, the Hedge Maze has a 100% chance, Kaom's Dream and Stronghold have a 35% chance. The Belly of the Beast areas now have a 20% chance in Normal, up to 30% in Merciless. The Dread Thicket is now always 50%. All non-unique maps now have a 35% chance to spawn a Stone Circle as well.
Fixed a bug where the Volley Fire Jewel would incorrectly add extra projectiles when it chained or forked.
Christ, the update is 1.2 gigs. Why is it so big :v:
Apparently there was some kind of error in pushing the file that caused it to unnecessarily redownload a lot of existing assets. Wilson posted about it on Reddit.
[editline]17th December 2015[/editline]
Oh, updated the post too.
So this patch was a gigabyte larger than it needed to be :(
This was due to a mistake in the build process which exported a lot of art unnecessarily. We have found out why this occurred and will be making sure that it won't happen again. We're very sorry about this :(
Can I have an invitation to the guild please? IGN is Delja
Invited.
In 300+ hours of playing, the most valuable drop I've gotten was an Exalted Orb (and it's the only one I've ever found)
found a Belly of the Beast in Talisman HC today which should go for 2 EX, pretty happy about that :)

My best item (playing on/off since beta/release) has been a unique heavy belt that has semi-decent rolls on it.
Still not worth more than 1-2c though :v:

So I guess instead of balancing Taste of Hate GGG is just adding more OP flasks like it to the game :v:
I could use some help next time any of ya'll are on, if you're high level. I haven't played since the Awakening Beta, just jumping into Talisman, so I'm a bit out of date and seriously struggling with Act 4 Merciless. I could use some help with defensive set-ups for gems, and maybe some gear I could buy from you?
I'm a Caustic Arrow Shadow, Level 72. 3.2k health, 4.6k CA damage + 7.5k single target degen with Essence Drain. My damage is okay, but seems like it has fallen off sharply in effectiveness. PA builds I'm seeing around are boasting 15-20k+ damage for the degen field, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I don't have Empower or Drillneck (who the hell can afford them, when an Exalted Orb now costs 60 goddamn Chaos?), but surely those can't make THAT much of a difference in the damage potential? A few thousand DPS, maybe, but 10k? Gotta be something else I'm fucking up on.
Anyway, I could use a hand for sure. Maybe even just somebody to run some maps with? Leech exp off you until I'm tough enough to start grinding my own shit?
how's your bow? +level of gems is huge for caustic arrow so you want at least a +2 for mapping as far as I know
Haven't played a facebreakers build since the infernal blow nerfm other than cyclone and ice crash, what other skills do people use nowdays for facebreakers?
how's your bow? +level of gems is huge for caustic arrow so you want at least a +2 for mapping as far as I know
I do have a +2 bow, but it's only four sockets. I can't afford a 5-socket bow with +2 yet. Right now my biggest problem is survivability. Even with 3.3k health, I'm being insta-killed by many different mobs in Act 4 Merci. I'm experimenting with different CWDT setups right now, but am not finding any especially helpful, and I'm burning through my Chromatics to reroll my boots for different combinations haha. The tried and true CWDT - Immortal Call setup would probably be ideal for preventing these huge spikes of damage, but I just don't have enough strength to use the gem right now. Would be it worth spending a skill point on a +30 strength node so that I could you think?
I grabbed 150% health from the tree, which seems like it should be plenty. Hell, I couldn't get more out of this area of the skill tree if I tried! I do have pretty shitty gear, and not much in the way of defenses like Evasion or Energy shield in my skill tree, which may be hurting me a bit more than I thought?
I don't expect to be tanky, but I feel like I should at least have a second or two to react to most threats. Instead, I'm getting vaporized in fractions of a second. Even with a build as mobile as Caustic Arrow (I basically never have to stand still), I'm seriously struggling with survivability right now. Can't imagine how stand-and-shoot casters and such do it.
are you res capped?
might be worth it to get iron reflexes if you're building evasion, but if you want to stick with just evasion you may want to grab acrobatics and phase acrobatics if you haven't already
[editline]20th December 2015[/editline]
also do you have the right flasks?
I am res capped, but Iron Reflexes is way too far out of the way, and since I haven't picked up any intentional ev% nodes anyway I don't think I'd get much out of it. My build paths from the Shadow area up through the witch area, primarily. Might be worth going for Acrobatics, but I'll have to make some big sacrifices elsewhere and I'm not sure where to start. My damage is already pretty low.
What do you mean by the right flasks? I have two health, a mana, a quartz, and a quicksilver.
What type of health flasks? By that point you'll want divine flasks, at least one having the "seething" (instant) mod, and probably one having "staunching" (bleed removal) mod and one having the "of heat" (remove freeze) mod.
There's also the question of what you're dying to in act 4 merciless. Are you farming dried lake? There's nothing too terribly dangerous in there, as long as you don't stand in Voll's ground slam attack. Besides dried lake there's not much to do in act 4 merciless except get the passive point.
[editline]20th December 2015[/editline]
You could always link your profile here and we could take a look at your gear/tree. Make sure your profile is public though.
I can link my profile when I get back to my desk, sure thing. I've got an instant and a staunching flask, so I should be good there. I didn't have any trouble with Dried lake, or even the mines, but the second I stepped into Kaom/Daresso, shit fell apartI figure if I can't even do those, maps are gonnagive me a real hard time. Here are my links:
Poison Arrow, Pierce, Rapid Decay, Void Manipulation
Essence Drain, Rapid Decay, Void Manipulation, Slower Projectiles (for single target)
Blasphemy, Temporal Chains, Enfeeble (for defense, slow enemies down azd reduce damage output)
Otherwise, I'm using Blink Arrow for utility. Phase Run with Faster Casting to get through big mobs, and a Chaos Golem with Minion Life. That's about it right now. Playing around with CWDT setups to see what works, and I still want to play with Abyssal Cry or Another for extra defense/damage by further debugging their movement speed and raising damage taken or causing them to explode.

I think your HP is fine for that build, but unfortunately this is how EV is atm, you get completely wrecked by the hits that get through. even though you have to make sacrifices, IMO acrobatics is to be considered 100% mandatory if you're going EV
as you said, the best thing about CA is that you can move around while enemies die to the dot. apply liberal use of flame dash or blink arrow to keep kiting enemies and stay out of harms way
another option is a defensive curse like enfeeble or temp chains. if you link it with blasphemy it will really help keep you out of harm
as zip said you definitely need an instant flask and get really quick at popping it when you take a big hit
[editline]21st December 2015[/editline]
whoops, should have refreshed
instead of pierce use conc effect if you're running a 4l for pa/ca
have you tried running any auras? grace/clarity/enlighten is the standard pa/ca aura setup, and you'll be able to replace the mana flask on your belt with another health flask or an ele res flask.

There isn't really a reason to merciless Kaom/Daresso except for eventually getting the "kill Malachai in merciless" challenge, but you can do that when you're higher level. They're just really difficult and have no reward.
I recommend doing maps, actually. Aside from certain map bosses it would be much easier than trying to do Kaom/Daresso, you'll get more XP and find better gear.
If your single target is lacking you could try Wither attached to a spell totem, I've heard that's very helpful for CA single target damage.
Can't run auras because of my curses (Blasphemy, Temp Chains, Enfeeble), and I can't afford an Empower or I'd use it on my Arrow. I was pretty torn between Pierce and another damage boost support, because on the one hand I get more damage, but on the other I can shoot my arrows through multiple enemies allowing me to fill the entire screen with poison clouds. Tough call for me. Massive full screen AOE, or higher damage in a smaller area.

Oh, really? I figured I was supposed to finish the campaign, and then start mapping. Well, I guess that would make sense then. Must just be undergeared for this shit.

I am about to have a friggen conniption over the "Porcupine Goliaths" on this map. Died twice so far to these fuckers. The charging bird monsters that explode into a shower of spikes that travel several screens away on death? God, I never realized how many bullshit enemies there were as a tanky Marauder character. I am getting fucking annihilated, haha. Minutes away from trashing this character and sticking to what I know. Squishy ain't no fun, yo.
Your gear and tree seem fine. Picking up Acrobatics and Phase Acrobatics would help a lot since you seem to be going evasion. Another thing that could help if self-casting enduring cry and having immortal call on CWDT.
Getting and running frenzy charges (Through things like blood rage, frenzy, or The Blood Dance boots if you feel like spending an exalt :v: ) would help your damage a lot.

hang on, since you went all the way down to the DoT cluster, why not grab iron reflexes instead of acrobatics? at the very least you could see if it's an improvement over evasion or refund it
I didn't realize I came that close to Iron Reflexes, thought it was way farther in to the duelist/marauder side of the tree. I can definitely give it a shot, but I haven't really built in any evasion. My tree only gives 34% increased evasion, which ain't shit yo. Grabbing that node doesn't seem like it'd do a whole heck of a lot for me. The Acrobatics thing, on the other hand, might be just what I need.
ehh, iron reflexes doesn't depend on evasion passive nodes.
