- no mana cost on rf totems
- rf totems are immune to fire damage, so no spell totem HP loss while RF
- ultra-tanky with free RF totems

can't see why you'd want to do both self cast + totem rf?
like you need to be scaling totem damage, totem life etc for your totems in addition to health, fire res, life regen for yourself. there's not much synergy there

Because RF is a great way to increase the damage of your spells since the % More Spell Damage is multiplicative and not additive like Increased Spell Damage. And with all the regen from items and on the tree with rotf it's easy to sustain, which is why a lot of builds are running RF these days.
As a Marauder you get a ton of life and strength, which means you'll be sitting on a nice pool of life and you'll also probably want to rock Iron Will and possibly a Doon.
But an RF totem build would be based entirely around using RF totems, you'd have AB so it's not like you would be doing damage yourself.
Spell damage also doesn't apply to RF, so you running RF wouldn't increase your totem's RF damage.
Oh right, forgot that RF is degen and isn't just fire damage. Guess you'll just have to scale it with DoT nodes, Inc. Burning damage and Totem nodes.
Empire's Grasp + Shockwave Totem + RF Totem could be pretty fun. Obviously taking Ngamahu and Tukohama.

I can't ascertain the price for botb thanks to jews and poe.trade. What would a 35%-40% 5l or 5/6s no link go for? Or should I wait for the talisman league to end granted they're less expensive in standard league?

There's a 37% 5l Belly on poe.trade right now for 1ex in TSC, in Standard they're ~2 ex.

Talisman wasn't the best league, but I felt the quality of the league was great with the new Rigwald boss etc. I'm glad they're sticking with mirrored leagues for HC/SC instead of splitting content up.

It's only cosmetic, and it's still alpha so it will probably be back to a wheel shape by release. There are the exact same amount of life nodes(7 Small and 1 large) and they all give the same values, GGG probably didn't care enough to change it for an alpha build.
