Fairly new player here, only been playing for 2 weeks or so. Any recommendations on a fun build?
I'd recommend just try out a bunch of skills and see which ones you enjoy and find a build on the forums(or make your own) with that specific skill as a focus. In the current meta stuff like CoC Discharge and Poison + Bino's are popular choices, but you'd probably be better off waiting a week and see what the new expansion will spawn with the new ascendancy classes and the glove/boots/helmet enchants. This league I've had a lot of fun on my Voltaxic Rift LA Ranger, 1h+Aegis Aurora Ice Crash Marauder, Low Life Summoner w/ 7 auras and MF Caustic Arrow Ranger.
Alright, saw all that expansion crap. Rolled a ranger as my first to mess around with, got to level 40 and decided I didn't like what I had done with her. Right now using a level 50 cyclone marauder.
cyclone/sweep/groundslam marauder definitely three of the safest builds out there for new players. but safest doesn't mean the most fun.

But survivability is questionable in my experience

bladefall builds got hit fairly hard if some of the changes made were anything to go by on kripp's stream [editline]25th February 2016[/editline]
Flicker strike seems fun as fuck just for the hilarity of clearing packs on packs. Well, the Scion's Ascendancy class is what a lot of people said it would be, although it's not quite as absurd? :v: All the Scion Ascendancy nodes
Holy shit, can't wait for next week!
Another unique I guess this is worth mentioning too
whoa, that elegant ringmail is pretty good for a build that uses iron will, no?
i've decided to be a shitter and just start as a 2h cycloner for ascendancy. still debating on whether i should use marauder (berserker) or duelist (champion)
definitely gonna try a crit incinerate assassin even if it's shit
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go crit SWT, but I have no idea what Ascendancy class to go. I guess Assassin is an easy choice but I don't know if SWT needs THAT much crit. :v:
So then are leagues ending with the patch?
I think I'm going to end up doing nearly the exact same duel wield cleaver as I did in talisman with some slight tweaks for the gladiator class it's just so cheap, strong, and fun to play
I'm definitely remaking my Low Life aurabot Summoner for next league, with the new Necromancer tree it's going to be insanely good.
So then are leagues ending with the patch?
Leagues end on the 3rd iirc, patch and new league lanches on the 4th. I kinda want to try this, is it easy to get working on linux?
I kinda want to try this, is it easy to get working on linux?
Should work fine, got a friend who played the game on Linux with Wine. Tutorial right here.
When Ascendancy is gonna be released, I'm planning to do an Ice Crash build with Increased AoE and Freeze Chance. Would this be best done with Templar, or potentially with Scion or Witch? If Templar, which of the ascendancy classes would be best for it? Maybe Inquisitor?

I like tanky so I'd probably lean towards Guardian, but that's personal preference. You can easily get enough damage with Ice Crash on 1h+shield to be solid in SC and great for HC.
Since I have a preference for 2H mauls I think I'll go Inquisitor then. Do you think Cast on Melee Kill or Cast on Damage Taken or similar support gems would proc the effect on the passive, or does the spell need to be manually casted?

using frost bomb to buff your ice crash would synergise really well with that node

Path of Flasks :v:
Jesus... Basalt Flask... It's like a wet dream. Also 2 uses, 5s each with +20 charges. :excited: [editline]28th February 2016[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/vaa6Grm.png[/t] Also just got this in TSC. :v: Traded my +1 Prism Guardian I posted a while back for it. Wish I had gotten one earlier so I could have played around with it. Only four days left... :frown:
I did some theorycrafting last night and figured that assuming the alchemist passive wheel is unchanged numerically, Using taste of hate together with a alchemist's basalt flask and fortify on at the same time would essentially give you a total of 91% physical damage reduction, if only for a few seconds. Tanky flask based builds just got tankier. You dont even need pathfinder to get those numbers. edit: sulphur flask would numerically be a bigger straight up damage booster than any other flask we've currently seen, other than vinktar p2l itself with a strong phys or phys spell build. This would also synergize very well with righteous fire thanks to the healing consecrated ground gives. This means that atziris promise will either need a buff or will get dumpstered for any build that uses life primarily, though i'm unsure if consecrated ground works for ES regen if ZO is taken. Assuming it does, it would work even better synergistically.
