New helmet with Soul Taker and a rapidly attacking, high cost skill?
Has some pretty insane potential if it doesn't have an internal cd.

That helmet seems like it would be pretty easy to abuse with quill rain and explosive arrow.

I bet that Essence league will bring the fastest/easiest leveling experience to date. Pretty much a guranteed Chaos orb every zone... You'll be decked out in decent rares by the time you hit Merveil.

Dunno if rushers/racers will bother nuking essence mobs, although saving up some boots bases and getting a guaranteed movement speed roll is not such a bad thing while leveling.
And mentioning rushers: I don't think they'd bother with essence mobs, since there's a great unknown potential of RIPs. Can't compare a first essence 'run' with consequent ones, if you get Peperoniz at your first pack :D
I'm not excited for essence mobs until late in Cruel or in the starting zones of merciless act 1. Farming some Ledge for those mobs = easiest return-in in merciless = faster resist cap, if you manage to get the guaranteed roll + some additional resists.
Or run a cheesy totem build and hide behind your 'gems' power :D
And Dried Lake will still be a shit-show in terms of spawns: essences everywhere...
I like the way they're doing Essence "boxes", how you can see what mobs they are and how you have to click on it multiple times.

The challenges seem pretty easy. Clear twinned/unid rare map challenges only require you to clear 10 of 15 tiers (They don't even include T16 :v: ) this time, so that's nice. The only two I can see myself skipping is endgame grind and redeem divination cards... maybe the last challenge they add will be something super difficult.
Also "The Cursed King" is the name of the Rigwald's Curse divination card so I guess Rigwald is back.

Dat portal looks like shit tho... the minimum amount of effort involved in its visuals, compared with the Perandus 'rich particle' one.
And that back attachment, I can't comment further...
These rewards took the least effort to be created, it's shameful.
Yeah, they aren't that good looking. Portal looks alright but the back attachment looks awful.
The back attachment could look pretty good with arctic armour, the portal effect is decent but nothing mindblowing. I was hoping for an armour set considering we have had misc. rewards the past two leagues(three with Essence league) and I was hoping for an armour set, maybe for 2.5..
At least the challenges are easy, easier than Prophecy from glancing over it.
this is the first portal effect I actually want to work towards, can't stand the over the top portals like perandus that cause a massive mess around the map device

We all knew Reach would go legacy, but I expected them to just gut poison and make it useless in a way to balance both Voidheart and double dipping.
I'm kind of glad that they nerfed Earthquake and buffed other melee skills. Hopefully the buff to Ice crash together with the nerf to Earthquake will make it actually feel viable and not just "Why am I playing Ice Crash when I can play Earthquake?"
Also the changes to Blade Vortex seem like a semi-buff? Reducing the amount of maximum stacks but increasing it's overall damage substantially, making clearing faster but boss killing slower.
Overall the changes seem great, especially buffing the skill damage of a lot of skills, should make the game more diverse.

Perandus is a Zana mod now, so that's neat. You can also chance Voll's devo again but not Headhunter.
They pretty made CoC only really usable with discharge, 100% trigger is good and all but limiting it to max 2 casts per second absolutely gimps a lot of skills.

Discharge now also deals 35% less damage when triggered instead of self-cast
I like these changes, don't think it'll fix melee but most of the meta builds like CoC Discharge, Voidheart Earthquake, and LA/Frostwall are dead or severely nerfed. looking forward to the new builds people come up with for Essence league

With those new cold rings it should be pretty good. No need for LMP so you can socket whatever you want in to replace it.

it's funny because of all the constant crying about "power creep" (like that matters in a singleplayer game) and then they finally make some changes and it just results in even more crying
I find the CoC change interesting because you can slot for elemental equilibrium. Have one skill be ice spear and another one fireball, and they will continually cast one after another.
