it's funny because of all the constant crying about "power creep" (like that matters in a singleplayer game) and then they finally make some changes and it just results in even more crying
I don't really understand all the crying. CoC was gutted for the most part but it's still going to be strong with Discharge, it's just not going to be the server crashing performance hog nightmare that it was. CoC was just kind of dominating the game for so long and I'm glad that it's mostly gone.
I also don't get the people who are quitting the game because of these changes, a guy who played Jugg Mjölner(Playstyle which arguably took the largest hit) gave me a 6L Kingsguard for free earlier today because he was quitting the game. Things get buffed, things get nerfed and heavy meta shifts happen pretty much every patch/expansion, it's to be expected and it makes the game interesting and fun.
Quitting the game before you even get to experience the changes is a bit silly.
There's a lot of people like that though. Last time I looked at the PoE steam reviews most of the negative ones either complained about desync/trading or that their build got nerfed because "GGG hates fun"
generally those people will start playing again within a week anyway
anyone in the US playing at release and want to group for leveling?

It happens with every single major patch or balance change lol, people always whine about their opieop faceroll builds or broken interactions getting nerfed because shit happens thanks to balancing, I'll admit that GGG isnt the best at balancing their game but they do identify and deal with problematic stuff over a relatively short timeframe.
The biggest complaints come from the people who can't understand how the game mechanics work and shifts around with every major patch or expansion, and pick a broken FOTM build to use because they keep getting stomped in A2 cruel because they cant build a character for shit. The people who make the broken FOTM builds won't really give a damn that they got nerfed, they'll just experiment to find out another new broken build that these people who're complaining now, will soon gravitate to.
And in any case, most of these whiners are probably going to come back after a while to get in on the new meta anyway

So with 3 gems socketed you can get max 6 casts per second, which is not too bad.

i've never played a mjolner discharge build but wont that make it hard to generate charges?
i've never played a mjolner discharge build but wont that make it hard to generate charges?
Assuming you're using Romira's Banquet it shouldn't be hard. Molten Strike/Cyclone is pretty solid for generating a ton of charges. The new Mjölner has 100% proc chance with a 100ms internal CD per spell meaning you can proc each spell 10x a second(Assuming your attack, aps, moon and the stars all align)
I played Mjölner in Talisman, Prophecy and also had a decked out Mjölner character in Standard and I'm pretty happy about the changes to Mjölner and can't wait to play around with it in 2.4. Mjölner is probably the new CoC.
Mjölner is probably the new CoC.
it was always pretty dumb that CoC was better than something as rare as mjolner anyway, so that's a welcome change imo

Uhmmm what??
That sounds stupidly overpowered unless there are some other changes im not aware of?
Oh ok wasnt aware of the internal cd on procs...

I hope it will become a chase unique again, much like Shavronne's Wrappings / Cospri's Will etc. and not just "neat, 70c!".

Holy shit. There are so many people complaining that this is "disrespectful' and "insulting" to legacy mjolner owners. It's GLORIOUS :v:
they wouldn't have been happy unless legacy mjolners were all buffed to 200% chance of casting spells lol
I guess you guys didn't check the new 'ice' mjolner out, Cospri Malice:

Back to shield charge coc assassin, oooh laaaah laaaah :D

Rayamn must be crying today. I think he owned like 10-20 legacy Mjölners and one with +2 Weapon Range corruption. Easily over 1K Exalted orbs lost.

those people are literally only crying because they thought their items would become even more valuable by being 'double legacy'
i had a legacy mjolner and i give zero shits about this
thank god the game isn't updated based around the standard playerbase
So what are you guys planning on going for Atlas/Essence? I was planning on going ice trap but I respecced a character in standard and put on some pretty average gear and it felt... underwhelming. Certainly didn't feel like it could do T16 maps even with good gear.
So instead I think I'll go super meta BV pathfinder like a boring person.
i was planning on making ca like usual but i'll probably start off as ed/contagion this time.
Berserker warchief totems (two of them) with facebreaker + Abyssus and the new steel rings.
I'm aiming for 20/20 gems as soon as possible, if I can't level them fast enough, I'll spend currency to buy them at level 70+.
Totally not wasting time with low tier maps, going to buy a t8+ (probably Reef, so I can RNG the Mao Kun, my favorite unique map) and progress from that point.
Second character might be a lightning warp miner or a crit blast rain trapper with Chin Sol.
I made a Low Life Blade Vortex Occultist in Standard and it's working out great, going to be my main build this league. My plan is to go Blade Vortex CI Occultist and transition in to a LL build when I get the dosh for gear(Shavronne's Wrapping, Skyforth, Heretic's Veil and maybe dual Void Battery)
Hopefully Skyforths will hover around 20-25 Ex, considering the new Stun Threshold ring is a thing, freeing up amulet/boot slot and probably being a budget go-to option for most players.
I would go Pathfinder but that playstyle doesn't appeal to me at all.

With this we can see that about 99% of the facepunch guild has been offline for 500+ days
I'm going BV pathfinder or assassin, still yet to decide on which though.

You can see the last online date now? Time for a purge boys!
I just tried a Flame totem build this week and it works pretty well. I'm still too squishy tho.
I feel like I'm gonna go for a Ice Nova build tonight.
It's been several leagues since I last did a necromancer build, has there been any new cheap-ish uniques or spells that would make it worth trying again? Last time I did a necrobuild was when flesh offering, bone offering and the corpse summon spell were relatively new.

My god, finally. It was kind of annoying seeing like 80+ people who haven't been online since 1.0.

There have been some new uniques such as Cloak of Tawm'r Isley and we're getting minion speed affix on rings in Essence league. Other than that Summoners haven't changed much. We did however get a huge buff in Ascendancy with the Necromancer ascendancy class and even larger buff in 2.3 when it got buffed significantly.
Classic Summoners are in a pretty good position, they're not top tier in clear speed or boss killing but they're strong. I played a Low Life Classic Summoner in Prophecy and I cleared Tier 14 maps decently fast and managed to kill Atziri.
Necromancer tree alone makes it worth trying a Summoner again if you haven't played one since pre-Ascendancy since they feel so much better now.
