Yep, just as I feared; Snow levels. My eyes hurt from all the white.
Disappointing to say the least, if they spent development money on a console port when there are so many long standing issues to fix on the real game.
Really, who wants to play a game like this with a controller...
I don't see the issue with the controller, the only thing they're changing is the flask slots, and some way to use ground targeted spells like storm call (probably some kind of autoaim)
I think these days porting to consoles is much smoother than it used to be, and it's another way to bring in more players and revenue which means more content
I wonder if they'll add an auction house to the xbox version? using xyz or trade chat would be abysmal on console and it would be a great test bed to see how it affects the economy before adding it to PC
Chris answered a few questions on how the versions will differ
PCI: As far as technical improvements are concerned in future updates, do you see the limitations of the Xbox version having any impact on the PC experience at all?
Chris Wilson: Absolutely. They have and will continue to result in performance improvements that affect the PC version as well.
I am absolutely awful at this game, and I believe it's due to my total ignorance of nearly every mechanic. Is there anywhere I can go to learn how to be less bad? I've been looking for what equate to a "PoE 101" style guide.
Furthermore, is there anything that explains the more in-depth strategies and concepts as well?
We console now bois
I hope, really hope, this doesn't backfire on GGG. I'm not even sure if this was a good idea, considering the huge backlash they've suffered thanks to it. The game has enough issues that still need fixing as is.

You could try looking in the gameplay section of the forum, or the class/build section for your chosen character.

I've been reading the class building section, and it's given me moderate success in my current build, but I still feel clueless. I don't really like the idea of just blindly following a guide that I don't understand.

or

Take your pick, both videos 100% predict the shitstorm GGG is in right now...
But jokes aside, when you read shit like this, you give up on any hope for any balanced future leagues:
"This has been in progress in at least planning form since 2014, so if you're happy with Forsaken Masters, The Awakening, Ascendancy and Atlas of Worlds then I suspect you'll be happy with our future expansions also. Those expansions were also developed with a console version in mind. There's no difference to how we're developing them." (Sauce)
Without minimizing any accomplishment GGG managed to get in 2016, still:
- actual performance improvements is nowhere to be seen (DX11 issues everywhere)
- balancing is still a dream for PC, let alone for xbone
- attaching aoe to any new skill, just to please the console gameplay
- minimizing any chance of actual improvements like the UI work applied in the console version, it being ported to PC (countless UI problems on PC, not being fixed since open beta)
- major blow dealt to the big supporters of the game
- shit network infrastructure: SoftLayer is a giant camel dung, it's like GGG rented the 'basic' package for the major metropolitan EU nodes, and left it as is.
- and now you know where your supporter money went: imagine me grinning and laughing maniacally right now, while GGG is rolling in your hard earned 'dough'.
Ye, ignore the last one, that was my first impression when reading about the special team hired to port the console version, while in the same time (in 2014) Chris strongly defended the strong network infrastructure that is capable of handling the giant playerbase, no matter the league start, and while Chris also bitching about being understaffed and whatnot.
Now, if Chris had the balls to actually mention the development time being split between projects (he didn't, check this post from January 2015: "Almost all of our development resources are on the Act Four expansion, and it's going to be completely awesome."), that would have totally been different. Instead he blamed the lack of pvp interest to the increasing negativity displayed by the community, also mentioning that "Players worry that we're diverting a lot of resources away from core content or that we don't understand what our players want us to deliver."
Take it as you will, but the current trend is in a down-spiral... I'm still confident that by 2020 we'll have a 90% optimized game, shitty game engine 'n' all. But I also hope I can find another similar game to play...

Are you for real
I wanna try a build that focuses on freezing enemies, especially with Cold Snap. Can it be used in a Cast on Crit build with things such as Quill Rain bow + Barrage + Cast on Crit + Cold Snap + Power Charge on Crit + Ice Spear + Ice Bite (and Elemental Profileration + Power Charge based items) to basically permafreeze enemies, while still dealing decent enough damage that leveling and clearing maps isn't terribly slow?
FUCK me I spent like 20 fusings trying to get a 4link on my leveling bow and I still didn't get 4link.. having no vorici really cripples me

I have a few bows, if you want the gear let me know when you're playing.

I wanted to do a perma freeze build but it ended up being an ice shot crit ranger which did freeze enemies instantly and one-shotted most mobs soooo the perma freeze wasn't that useful. I do like how shattering enemies negates certain effects like necrovigil and the quill spray on death from those quill monsters.

I think the video ZiggyD made is the most rational response to the entire situation regarding the Xbox one release. Saying that the Xbox one version will have no impact at all on the PC version is pretty naive. If they can't get the targetting system working well for skills such as Tornado Shot, Storm call, Blink Arrow, Lightning Warp etc. we will probably not see new gems of that style ever again. The first question they'll ask when they want to add a new system will be "is this feasible on console?" There's also the big talking point regarding only having 4 potions on the Xbox one version, this seems to be a major balance concern, as losing 1 flask slot is pretty huge. How will they balance this?
Only time will tell how the Xbox one version will impact the PC version. I honestly think that the Xbox one release is a good thing and will be a net gain for Path of Exile in general.
Though I'm curious about one thing, will we be able to use our PC accounts on the Xbox one version, with our MTX? I know they're two different realms, but they're both under GGG's banner, unlike the Garena versions of the game.

Since they're seperate realms I don't think it's unreasonable to say they could balance each individually
I remember one big game that released on PC and console that occasionally did balance updates purely for console sometimes (I THINK it was overwatch?)
I mean the game is already differently balanced for console (4 active skill slots and 4 flask slots) so I don't see it being strange if skills and items might have different stats on the console.

Oh, man! I've been asking for this for such a long time.
Guess I'm going SSF in 2.6!
Say what people will, GGG has always done their best to listen to community concerns.
I wish the game got an ingame auction/trades house, I don't like using third party programs or having people send me messages to trade. Instead I'd just prefer to open up an auctionhouse window in the game, put an item on sale for a specific price, and have it stay there until someone buys it. It would make trading a lot less of a hassle.
Some might say it would reduce the player-to-player contact, but honestly, who enjoys haggling with random strangers?

I enjoy the current trading system and I think it is how it should be. Though there are a lot of things they could do to improve the system.
- Make XYZ item search and item listing core part of the game with an in-game UI, and not some shoddy 3rd party tool.
- Improve the API. Make it update in real-time or with a short delay, de-list people who are offline or AFK from showing up in trade searches.
- Allow any character class to buy any gem from the vendors.
- Cross-instance trading.
- Give EVERYONE a free premium tab for trading, try to get rid of the godawful forum trading.
I think that adding an auction house or any sort of instant buy/sell system would be a huge mistake. Suddenly we would be in a Diablo 3 situation where anything that isn't top tier is practically worthless and wouldn't sell. People who currently price fix would suddenly turn to flipping and item sniping, buying up small item markets(such as certain div cards) to drive the prices up. Bots would now flood the AH with items, making the normal, casual player almost unable to compete on the market place. Oh yeah, we would also have to deal with AH/flipping bots.
AH has already been proven to not function well in these types of games. The only reason why AH works decently well in games such as World of Warcraft(and let's not ignore the fact that AH in WoW also have major issues) is because almost all BIS items or gear worth using are BOP boss drops.
Chinese server just went OB today and there can be another realm reset, so likely this is a beta test for the functionality. The post also calls for suggestions to improve the system, so we might see more improvements coming.
> Only players with lvl>=70 can access the bazaar(AH).
> Special "Bazaar Stash Tab" to place items. These stash tabs have size similar to inventory.
> Can place item notes like public stash tabs as "expected price".
> Players reaching lv70 for the first time receives one for free and there are other promotional events giving out these.(Chinese POE runs a lot of these events.)
> In-game search function for bazaar items. Currently only supports searching by item type.
> Buyers can bid certain amount of currency and send the offer to the seller.
> Seller, if in game, will receive notification on the bid. He can decide to accept or to decline the offer.
> If accepted, both player will receive the item/currency in the "completed offer list"(see transaction pic).

I don't mind haggling with randoms over the price of let's say an 800es 6 linked vaal regalia, but what I can't stand is having to spend 30 minutes of my time to whisper 20 different people to convert some currency...

My first Atziri kill! After failing the first try around two weeks ago I decided to play it safe and leveled to 90 before trying again. Proceeded to kill her several times in a row without dying. The extra damage and life gained from the levels and gear certainly helped, but the biggest thing I learned was the importance of +cast speed. Dodging the the Flameblasts and Thunder Calls is a lot easier when your Firestorm doesn't lock you up in place for so long.
I also managed to get all the Pale Court fragments and snagged myself a Reach of the Council. Anyone got suggestions for builds using that bow that can kill Shaper and friends?
