Just some basic stuff that's good to know about Path of Exile, is that ideally you'll want between 200%-280% increased life from the passive skilltree alone. You don't need to spec into a lot of damage, you get enough damage from your items. The further you progress into the game, the stronger the monsters will get. If you barely have any life they WILL one-shot you.
Another thing to take into consideration is that you planned a full 120 points build, this is extremely unrealistic since this requires your character to be Lv100. Only 7 people in the history of Path of Exile have reached Lv 100 with only 1 of them reaching it in Hardcore.

It gives 228% increased life, your attacks can never miss, all your evasion gets converted into extra armor, you spend life instead of mana for your skill (get a Life on Hit / Life Leech gem and you don't have to worry about dying) and you can never get stunned.
I usually want to prevent people from investing a lot of time leveling up and then hitting a giant rock wall with their build once they enter Merciless and get shit on so hard by the mobs, but last week I saw a video from Kripp saying it's ok for new players to make their own build and experience what they did wrong themselves so they can improve and know what mistakes they made when they reroll a new character.
I guess he's right in some way, but I'd just hate it when new players give up on the game because they can't progress to the end-game content anymore (which is extremely fun once you get there with a solid build).

I don't know which gems to use though, right now I'm using cleave for aoe dmg, whirling blade for jumping fast on enemies (and it also deals dmg to foes you jump through, I use it a lot that way), and dual strike for single target damage.

You will have a lot of Dex so these are the gems I suggest.
Dual Strike with Multistrike, Faster Attacks and Blood Magic gems linked together in a 4L, when you get a 5L you can add something like Melee Phys Dmg.
For AoE I would go for either Etheral Knives or Reave, link them up with Blood Magic, Faster Attacks and Melee Phys Dmg.

Make a thread on the forums where you can list what items you're selling. If you format it right, shop indexers such as poe.xyz (which a lot of people use nowadays) can help people find your items.

most low end uniques are common enough that they won't sell, or if they do sell, you can't expect more than alch or chaos each. Some of the BiS and build enabling ones at the higher levels are worth mad amounts of exalted though. Always keep your trade chat open, switch servers now and then so that you can tap different markets, and if possible, keep your nose to the grindstone on the trade forums. I've made a fortune in barter goods this way all the way from the OB's beginning to release.

Make a new Shadow, you get Dual Strike as a reward for killing Hillock. It literally takes 2 minutes to get one.

They ran to their death in the middle of very large pack of multiple projectile+extra damage voidbearers that were also augmented by 2 damage increase auras just to get a chance at picking it up.
PK'd 2 people during a bandit quest when they voted to kill NORMAL Oak after I had already selected help. One of them apparently reported me.
