if your max mana is 1000, and you reserve 60% of your mana, you will only have a maximum useable amount of mana of 400.
but how is it reserved? what causes it, what's it for?

a buff reserves 40-60% of your maximum mana in order to keep it running

Mana reservation is the mana cost for auras. Instead of costing a flat amount per cast or draining mana every second, they remove a chunk of your maximum mana until you turn the aura off.

The old button unlogged you. The new one sends you to the character selection screen.

Still, the -10% EXP is still a huge deal on high levels, can cost quite a few exalts to gain that EXP in maps.

Look at the chat, some of his gems just leveled up moments ago and he possibly had some other gems that he couldn't level at the time (char level too low)
