I managed to play Descent before it was over. I got the unique bow that reflects your arrows towards you, it was pretty useful, and accidentally picked a belt that increased the effect of potions, which ended up being pretty useful too. I managed to get to the first boss, but I desync'd and it killed me almost instantly..
But atleast I leveled up to 8 literally a second before dying, so I got the archivent. c:
Descent is realy fun, I wish I had been able to try it earlier. I like the whole "each floor with it's own rules".
Just ran into a pack with the wealth modifier for the first time. Just, wow. So many rares.

Just a little bit more...
I want the stash tab bundle, but I would have to buy $15 of in game currency.
Hope the regular stash tab bundle goes on sale soon

There is several races, they are only available for a limited time. You can see what will be coming up next in the official website http://www.pathofexile.com/
I thought decent was its own league?
I thought decent was its own league?
Descent is a race. It, much like the others, uses a separate league for your character.
You can only play with your characters until the race is over, or until your character dies.
i still think there should be a permanent descent league that's separate from everything else solely to play around in
because it's the most fun out of all of the races
I want a permanent cutthroat league. :(
Info about the the 1.0.3. update https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/667938
With 1.0.2 live on the realm, the team are currently working on two goals: a 1.0.2b update patch that improves some areas of 1.0.2 and the 1.0.3 Content Update that we're estimating will be deployed on December 11 (NZ time). Today's news post covers some of the content we're expecting to release in 1.0.3.
Note that these are not patch notes! They're just the list of features and content on our whiteboard and there will be many other improvements and changes. Not everything in this list will necessarily make it in.
*New Skill: Barrage - a bow/wand skill.
*New Uniques: There are several new Unique items, and we're hoping at least one of them will be another Map.
*New Achievements: There are two coming in 1.0.3.
*Vendor Recipes: We've added a few more recipes. Some of these are very appropriate for racers.
*New microtransactions: We have three in the works. I'm hoping the Storm Call one will be ready in time :)
*Updated combat impact sounds!
*Passive skills to support degeneration and chaos damage skills.
We'll update with more information and screenshots of the new content as it's available! By the way, I'm sorry that the current Build of the Week is slightly delayed. It was moved to a secondary priority after the big 1.0.2/Supporter Pack push last week. I'll resume working on it shortly.
Storm Call cosmetics? Can't wait. Hope not just color change.
Played my first descent race today.
That was way more fun than I thought it would be.
I missed the race today, shit.

what is this?
what is this?
Season 5 race reward progression.
I just had my first ever hardcore character die, in the Nemesis league. Was playing a witch, using zombies mainly as bait while I pelted enemies with spells, and focusing more on a variety of spell types instead of just one. Died against Merveil, she just one-shotted the zombies, and I couldn't stay still for long enough to get much damage done. Actually the farthest I've ever gotten. Didn't get any screenshots, the key wasn't working for some reason. Still, being in hardcore was probably the only "attachment" I had to the character, so after dumping off the uniques, skill gems, and currency items she had on her, I decided to delete her. Anyone got any recommendations for another character to try?
From the forums:
Thanks very much for the generous Supporter Pack purchases so far. Coincidentally launching the packs over Thanksgiving weekend resulted in crazy sales (4848 packs in less than four days!), which really helps the budget that we can put towards future content and expansions. We're expecting to deploy the 1.0.2b patch later today, to address various bugs that needed fixing in 1.0.2.
I'm out of the office at the moment but Carl reports that we're looking good for 1.0.2b deployment today. If the QA departments runs into any last-minute difficult issues then it'll probably be moved to tomorrow.
There's also discussion of 1.0.2c patch later this week to fix further problems, before the big 1.0.3 deployment next week. I'm really keen to see what you guys think of Barrage - it's really making me want to start a new Ranger.
And 1.0.2b changelog:
Version 1.0.2b
-Fixed a bug where Storm Call would not work with trigger support gems.
-The Righteous Fire aura is now correctly tagged as area damage.
-Changed the target selection of triggered spells when the trigger cause has died.
-Fixed a bug where area damage bonuses would not benefit Viper Strike when supported by Melee Splash.
-The Melee Splash damage penalty is no longer specifically attack damage.
-Fixed an instance crash related to Headhunter interacting with some Nemesis mods.
-Fixed a bug introduced in 1.0.2 where the skill tooltip damage per second stats displayed incorrect values for Dual Strike, Double Strike and Cleave.
-Fixed the skill tooltip damage per second display for Cyclone.
-Fixed various issues with unreachable areas in Maps.
-Fixed an issue where the effects of some Nemesis mods would outlast the death of suicide exploding monsters.
Jesus christ, they sold 4848 Support Packs in four days? And each Supporter Pack is minimum of $50.. So glad that GGG is doing this well.

They're actually temporarily removing the option to purchase a Unique item design for $1K because so many people are buying it that they can't keep up with designing the actual items.

fuck, and I was planning on purchasing one very soon to help contribute a bit more up GGG's way :(
I probably would've bought the Eternal Supporter Pack if I wasn't saving up so I can purchase a house of my own. I got an Exalted Pack though, to show my support.
GGG really deserves all the money they get.

Man I wish I had that problem.

Bought the Warrior pack, probably going to upgrade to Champion later on.
Oh man beat piety on hardcore and was super pumped then died to the unique mob in the gardens. I killed it and the ice spears on death just took me down from full health.
Well that was the furthest i've gotten on hardcore but I thought I could at least get to cruel difficulty.
Can I get some tips for descent champions?
Can I get some tips for descent champions?
Descent champions or decent?
If the latter, I would look up a build cuz everyone is going to know how to play better than you until you play the game alot.
Think I want to try making a Fire-based Witch with focus on Detonate Dead, don't see it used much even though Corpse Explosion in Diablo II was one of the best skills.
The fire damage and radius of DD can be ramped up, yeah it doesn't scale with extra players but I usually play solo anyway. With all the fire-damage nodes, Fire Penetration, Elemental Weakness, Flammability, and the Searing Touch staff, Detonate Dead has the potential to do at least 100% of enemy life as fire damage (accounting for lowered fire resistances and etc from above gems) which would instakill most of the surrounding enemies (which likely have the same life as the corpse) unless they have fire/elemental resistance of course.
Not sure how effective it would be in practice but trying out unique builds is what this game is about anyway.
Detonate Dead Fire Witch is an already existing build concept and has been around for a while now. You just don't see it that often because Witch is like the weakest class atm, everything a Witch does a Scion can do it better imo.
