Haven't play in two months, still want to make that trap focused scion
Here's the tree I'm following

Suggestion for gear other than sunblast and deerskin boots?
Also, are fishing rods regular weapons?

Searing Touch could be nice, allows for 6L and gives insane fire damage for Fire Trap. You should also switch the 10+30% EV nodes for the 8+12% Life Nodes north of Golem's Blood, health is a lot more important then AR/EV nodes.
Life > EV.

Its free because it is better than Diablo 3.
On a more serious note, they make their money from microtransactions that are purely aesthetic besides more stash pages.

They live off selling cosmetic stuff, no P2W bullshit. And since you only see other people in towns (or if you are in a party, other party members) it doesn't realy affect, harm nor annoy anyone.
They also have support packs, that not only come with ingame cometics but they also come with extra goodies, from the soundtrack to shirts and hoodies. http://www.pathofexile.com/purchase
in other words, it's probably the most awesome f2p system ever
Thanks guys

even if going iron reflexes?
Shit I already put points in some evasion nodes
I'm about to do scepter of god
how do you get the scion? is it straight-forward, or possible to miss it?
Played the game for the first time as a duelist but I feel like taking another class, the templar guy with the beard looks neat.
I'm trying to get better at races, any recommended streams or recordings from races? I feel that I need to learn a lot about races and how to play them.

It's hard to miss, she's sitting on a cage hanging from the ceiling, right before the room with dominus
can someone explain to me the usefulness of iron reflexes? seems odd to me
can someone explain to me the usefulness of iron reflexes? seems odd to me
A simple idea of the concept behind iron reflexes - you're trading away all your evasion (chance to not get hit) for armor (mitigation of damage) instead.
Evasion means that sooner or later, you will get hit, no matter how good you are at escaping from attacks. Without mitigation, this means you'll suffer the full brunt of an attack, and with no mitigation (and a life pool that isn't big enough) - you'll be hurting, or dead.
Those with armor however, can attempt to tank their way through the hits instead - they take smaller amounts of damage more consistently, due to their evasion rating not being so high, but the hits will not hurt as hard since they're built towards mitigation instead.
The main advantage of IR is that you can use dex gear to provide damage mitigation at the cost of not being able to dodge attacks. It's a very specific build-based thing and depends on your playstyle - do you want to be in the thick of it, or hope that you can dodge often enough that something doesn't hit you too hard and you pay the price for it as a result?

FTFY.
I'm about to do scepter of god.
When I went through it, I found the enemies to be rather easy to defeat using my ice-necromancer-witch, but the bosses were quite a spike in difficulty. The boss that spams lightning traps was hard to get to because the entire room got filled with electric projectiles and I didn't ever manage to kill Dominus and his chaps.

Not to mention that the converted Evasion scales with all the armor nodes.
If you, for example have 3k Armor and 4k Evasion and spec into Iron Reflexes, you'll have around 6k armor give or take (you don't receive evasion bonusses from DEX anymore so you won't get the full 4k Evasion converted).
If you then for example have 50% Increased Armor in the tree, you'll have a total of 9k Armor whereas you'd only have 4.5k Armor with the same 50% Armor if you don't have Iron Reflexes.
Add Grace to that, an additional big boost of flat Evasion that'll get converted to Armor which also gets boosted by the % Armor nodes.
Also you say IR is a very specific build-based thing, but almost every Melee build that isn't Acrobatics based will run Iron Reflexes.

btw I started playing again after a small break and found a Tabula Rasa at lv 2 in Mud Flats :v:

Even if you go IR, it's not worth going for those extra EV nodes unless you're at level 99 and have nothing else to put it in.

Almost every build, melee or not is going to benefit from IR. Especially if you want to be the king of facetanking.
I just found out the 6L Voltaxic Rift I bought for around 50 Exalts before I took my break is now being sold for around 100 Exalts
Thinking about selling it, that way I'll have plentiful resources to fund my new character.
How do i play this singleplayer? or atleast turn off the chatbox?
How do i play this singleplayer? or atleast turn off the chatbox?
Hit enter, at the top of the chatbox there are checkboxes that you can disable or use to filter out certain chat channels.
[editline]15th January 2014[/editline]
Also it's always singleplayer but you have to option to party up with someone and kinda make it multiplayer.
It's perfectly possible to shut everyone out, disable the entire chat and don't trade at all with other players. Only problem is that you won't get the best gear if you're not going to trade.
How do i play this singleplayer? or atleast turn off the chatbox?
There should be an option to toggle allchat off in the chat window itself (which you open by pressing enter), and I also belive it's in the options menu.

Decided to go Crown of Eyes, boosting my weapon damage by 44% + 18% for 6 Power Charges. Considering using Bino's Kitchen Knife since it has very nice base crit, decent phys but has
On killing a Poisoned enemy, nearby enemies are Poisoned
On killing a Poisoned enemy, nearby allies Regenerate Life
Which synergizes well with Adder's Touch. Going to crit a ton for a lot of damage, once I get in to the early 80's I'll be able to blast through almost any map with no problems. I'm lacking life(210%) but everything on the screen will die.
I also want to 4L a CoC, any suggestions?

Swapped out two 15% Crit Chance nodes for the two 25% Crit Chance nodes in the Ranger starting Area, and another 20% Crit Chance node for the 30% Crit Multiplier node in the same node circle.
Alternatively you could keep the 20% Crit Chance node if you don't like the 30% Multiplier, but I'd certainly swap out the 15% Crit nodes for the 25% Crit nodes.

what kind of skills do you use?
what kind of skills do you use?
CI Witch, Crit Spectral Throw. Crown of Eye's for the bonus damage from Power Charges / Passive Tree / Rathpith. Rathpith for the huge bonus damage and whenever I need to tank a lot of casters, might go Aegis Aurora or a decent Archon Kite for switch. Maligaro's Virtuosity for Crit/IAS. Rainbowstride's as my main boots, switch out to Lioneye's Paws(Depending on instance/map) Bino's Kitchen Knife(Find me another dagger with 230+ pDPS and 10% crit for 20 Ex) as my weapon.
Planning on getting an Auxium in the future, pretty pricey build. Going to be left with a small amount of currency when I'm done.

The 2nd one sounds awesome
are those personal effects a one-time-use sort of thing? or can they be transfered between items/characters?
I want to get that adventurer's pack thing
How does one join the guild?
Or is it at max capacity?
And if so, can anybody check if someone's not been active for awhile to lend me a spot in? I'd love some friendly chats with ya'll.
