How does one join the guild? Or is it at max capacity? And if so, can anybody check if someone's not been active for awhile to lend me a spot in? I'd love some friendly chats with ya'll.
Pretty sure there's room in the guild for people to join, just post the ingame name of one of your characters and I'll send you an invite.
are those personal effects a one-time-use sort of thing? or can they be transfered between items/characters? I want to get that adventurer's pack thing
You can use them on any character on any league except race leagues I think.
I just got back into playing path of exiles. Would like some opinions on some builds for a dual sword Duelist. This one is the current one I'm using. You're going to want something tanky and I would suggest IR. Acrobatics can be good for certain builds, especially if you're ranged and can kite well. The second(and first) builds are lacking life big time, you have 98% on your second build and 116% on the first one. You will run in to huge problems at higher level maps, I wouldn't suggest going below 150%(200% if Nemesis/HC) I would also recommend going RT if you're not going crit. It's going to boost your DPS substantially and lets you forget about accuracy. I decided to draft up an example build, taking your builds as a foundation and making some changes to it to make it better. Increased life, IR/US/RT all included. do some shrines only appear at high levels? I've got like 5 more for the challenge that just don't appear
So I played for a few hours with a friend of mine and it was quite great. This is a pretty high quality game for a free to play game. Anyway we're at act 2 and it gets a bit boring and repetitive. The graphics do look nice though, the dungeons look really amazing and detailed. Although I dislike the lack of customization and I'm playing as the templar and he looks like a complete dork due to the lack of trousers. There isn't that much variety in weapons and armor which is a bit disapointing. The system with the skill gems is pretty unique and nice but overall it feels a bit shallow and far to easy. We wrecked through everything without much problems. I dislike the classes a bit because you can really mix a lot of skill points together and create a character that is a jack of all trades. I don't really know what to level up because there is so much stuff and it's hard to get a feel for the classes. I get magic spells, melee attacks and summoning casts and I can still use despite not being a pure mage class. The transparency between the classes doesn't feel to intuitive. Still figuring everything out. Sometimes I really don't know what skill I should upgrade or what my class is supposed to be. Neat game though.

We wrecked through everything without much problems.
There isn't a huge variety in armour(Looks wise) Path of Exile follows a "tier" system in armour, you have an EV Armour for level 4, and for level 68 etc. You have AR(Armour) Armour, EV(Evasion) Armour, ES(Energy Shield) Armour, AR/ES Armour, EV/ES Armour. Almost every tier looks different then the next, but you're going to find the same looking chest piece over and over again, just like any ARPG like this. The versatility is in the stats, each item can have six explicit stat rolls(If you get Life and Fire Resistance that's two explicit rolls) and have one implicit set roll(Rings generally have a Resistance/Phys Damage roll) This opens the game up a ton in terms of gear customization, and it's so satisfying when you find(or buy) that perfect item with the stats you really want. Afterall it's a F2P game, so if you want cosmetics you should try the microtransactions out. The game is split in to three difficulties(Normal, Cruel, Merciless) and each currently has three acts. Normal difficulty is there to help players learn the game, very easy and just a pushover until you reach the last boss, so judging the difficulty of the game in the first 20-25 levels is very unfair. Most people hit a wall, new people generally hit it in act 3 or early Cruel, or you're like me and don't hit a wall until you're level 80 and spent over a hundred hours on the character. The real hard part starts in Merciless, unless you follow a pre-determined build or have experience in PoE you will most likely not reach that stage on your first character.
I dislike the classes a bit because you can really mix a lot of skill points together and create a character that is a jack of all trades. Still figuring everything out. Sometimes I really don't know what skill I should upgrade or what my class is supposed to be. Neat game though.
You can make a jack-of-all-trades, if you don't want to progress past Cruel. You're going to have to specialize to get anywhere in the game, plan your builds out.. You're even going to have to choose what weapon you want to use, my first character used a two-handed sword and if I would switch to a two-handed axe or mace I would get destroyed. When you choose passive skill points there are a few important things to follow. 1. Don't choose Strength/Dexterity/Intelligence nodes just to boost those stats, use them as a path to reach more important passive nodes such as Life, Melee Physical Damage, Spell Damage etc. 2. Life is usually the most important passive, you want to get all the life in the beginning of a skill tree and work towards more, try choose a route that goes past other important passive nodes. Only exception to this is if you use Energy Shield instead of Life, but forget about Energy Shield when you're starting out. The transparency between classes isn't obvious to the average joe, but you're going to have a bad time if you choose to become a Ranger and want to become a spell caster. Generally every class has some special passives around their starting point. Witch has Spell and Energy Shield oriented passives. Ranger has a lot of Projectile Damage, Bow Damage and Attack Speed passives. Duelist has a lot of melee focused passives. Shadow is very crit, dagger and claw focused. Marauder has a ton of life/melee passives. The Templar has the best Aura passive cluster very close to his start, he also a lot of shield passives. You can also wander down to Marauder if you want to focus on melee or up to the Witch pretty well. Templar is considered the weakest class at the moment, just because every other class has a lot of strong passives. Scion is just thrown in the middle of the skill tree. She is the most versatile class, able to be adapted to almost any sort of playstyle, but she might not show the same results. Classes can obviously migrate around the passive tree. For example: My new character is a Witch, because I use Energy Shield instead of life, I also focus on Critical Strikes and Daggers for my attacks so I wandered down to the Shadow tree for the passives. This game is very open-ended and complex, I suggest reading up some guides about passives and looking at other builds and look for common patterns. I hope this post helped.
is it possible to do a CI build that works during leveling and doesn't need a massive respec? I'd imagine not, since life nodes are so important before the switch, and useless after
The game is too shallow, but you're still figuring everything out and the tree has too many options? What? You're just countering your own arguments.
You're probably right, that sounds rather dumb of me. I've played a bit more and I still can't get a feeling for the classes. It's really hard to explain, I've played through the game just skilling some stuff up that sounded good. Got equipement that just have higher stats than the previous one. There hasn't been much strategy yet. But this is pretty much the case in all arpgs due to the easy difficulty. Perhaps if it would be harder, it would be more wise to actually strategize.

If you actually plan to play though the entire game, and see the real, fun endgame I strongly advice you to look up an already worked out build someone with experience made and stick to that. I'd like to see you post your opinion when you played through Merciless.
Got some news about future content:
We've deployed 1.0.5b and have posted its patch notes here. A copy of the community interview that occurred on the weekend has been posted by its hosts and can be heard here. It's over an hour long and covers a lot of topics! We've recently finished some technology that will allow us to make serverside updates to Path of Exile without needing downtime. It's likely to be in the 1.0.6 or 1.1.0 patch (after being sufficiently tested). Once this is deployed, we'll be able to hotfix server problems (like bugs or balance issues) in a non-disruptive way. This will probably mean that we deploy small updates more regularly and will be extremely valuable after large patches where it's extremely important to be able to deploy minor fixes quickly and without rebooting all the servers. I also wanted to clarify that Act 4 is not part of March's 1.1.0 content update. There is a pile of new content, including some new game areas, but an entire Act takes way more than four months to create. While most of the community understand that Acts can take over a year to produce (depending on how much funding we have available), I've been seeing posts where people were confused about the word "expansion" that I used to describe the March update. While we think of it as an expansion because it contains so many different things, it doesn't have the new character class or new act that people seem to expect from the word. Because of this, we've moved away from using that language. What's something called that's a lot larger than a regular content update but smaller than the gigantic update that will introduce Act 4? A mini-expansion? Either way, the March update has its own name and you'll find out information starting in early February :)
And 1.0.5b patchnotes:
Version 1.0.5b -Added support for the Fracturing mod in races. -The Cast On Death Support Gem no longer supports minion skills. -Trigger Support Gems no longer support Trapped or Remote Mined skills. -Storm Call and Ethereal Knives have been added to the provisions chest in the Endless Ledge. -Flameblast has been added as a chest reward for Witches in Descent: Champions. -Fixed an issue where portals were not closed when logging out of a character via the character selection screen. -Fixed an issue where degeneration damage of other players would not display correctly. -Fixed an issue where Auras and Tempest Shield could be applied without the reservation succeeding. -Fixed a bug where the Raise the Bar achievement could be completed incorrectly by using resistance flasks multiple times.
Wait, there's cast on death support gem and it's not supposed to support minions? I can't think of any builds that could go with it.
Wait, there's cast on death support gem and it's not supposed to support minions? I can't think of any builds that could go with it.
The only "use" it has is for casual standard league players You link it with a portal gem and whenever you die you can just continue, but i don't see the fun in that at all
Only way to play is a hardcore league. Me and my friends now play nemesis all the time. Before the release all we did was hardcore. Normal is boring.
I usually don't generally play hardcore in games because I am a casual scum. Admittedly, I don't do trading so most of my gear is self-found, which makes getting good equipment a challenge in and of itself.
Wings of entropy is a two handed axe, and it counts as dual weilding, does this mean it benefits from both two handed and dual weilding nodes? or just from dual weilding?
Wings of entropy is a two handed axe, and it counts as dual weilding, does this mean it benefits from both two handed and dual weilding nodes? or just from dual weilding?
Just dual wielding, I'm pretty sure you can't benefit from both.

surely grab that big block of life nodes?
Anyone got a spare ethereal knives gem or multitraps?
Anyone got a spare ethereal knives gem or multitraps?
What league? I have like 4 tabs worth of gems on standard.
I just remembered, is there space in the guild?
Is it possible to get the berek rings (respite, pass and grip) by using orbs of chance or is it drop only?
What league? Some new info about the upcoming summoner skills:
The Four 1.0.6 Summoner Skills As you may know, next week's 1.0.6 content update is summoner-themed and includes four new active skill gems. While we'll be showing them in the patch video next Monday, they're ready enough for us to announce what they specifically do. Today's news post consists of the current skill descriptions as seen on the gems themselves. Summon Raging Spirit: Summons a short-lived flaming skull that rushes at nearby enemies and attacks them rapidly. Enemies cannot directly engage these spirits and can pass through them. Desecrate: Desecrates the ground, summoning corpses and dealing chaos damage to all enemies in the area. Flesh Offering: Consumes a corpse, temporarily empowering your minions with swiftness (attack, cast and movement speed). The skill consumes other nearby corpses, increasing the duration for each corpse consumed. Bone Offering: Consumes a corpse, temporarily granting all of your minions the power to block both attacks and spells. The skill consumes other nearby corpses, increasing the duration for each corpse consumed.
those summoning skills are a pretty good idea of mixing up the genre staples of the necromantic powers.
Can someone explain why the fuck PoE is not available in Russia anymore? I can't even install it.
