Whirling blades and cyclone are amazing crowd control. Even better when doing whirling blades regens both your mana and health with each hit (The HP gain is so much that my build entirely centers around the regen it gives me :v). It also stuns enemies so I can basically just keep passing through a large group without fear of attack to regen my health (28 hp gain per successful hit)

That kind of build is extremely strange to play, because finding out if you are loosing more health than you are getting is extremely unreliable.

Or have such good gear that it doesn't matter anyway :P
Picking Whirling Blades as your damage ability is a really strange choice, it's more of a movement orientated ability like Leap Slam or Lightning Warp. also 200 fusings in and I've not even seen a 5 link yet :/
Its effective for me though because I have a stun and a life steal gem connected to the whirling blades gem so I pretty much keep doing it without worrying about death. For tougher enemies I just spam double strike or viper strike. I also have frenzy charge and flash so I can clear a room in a few seconds.
How does critical strikes with spell work? I know there's three different crit modifiers, Spell Crit, Crit and Crit Multiplier. I know that Spell Crit and Crit modifies the chance of you critting and multiplier determines the amount of damage your crit does. I got one question and I can't find the answer. Does normal crit chance increase the chance of me criting with a spell? or is it only spell crit which increases that chance. Example: I have X spell which has a 5% base crit and I have a Dagger. Let's say the dagger has 75% Increased Crit Chance and 75% Increased Crit Chance with Spells. Would that mean that X spell has 12.5% crit chance or only 8.75%? Really want to know this stuff before I go off and blow a ton of Ex.

In your example, your spells would only benefit from the 75% Increased Crit Chance with Spells. there's a unique however that combines both modifiers into a single one for Attacks: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Crown_of_Eyes [editline]28th February 2014[/editline] More info on the Critical Strike mechanic: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Critical_Strike

Thanks for clearing that up anyway.

In the photos, you can see Jonathan and Michael (our American PR guy) demonstrating the game to the press. Tomorrow there will be plenty of news coverage about Sacrifice of the Vaal on the web, including an article from us. So I've finally beat the game once, and I still can't select the new class, even though I saved her from her cage in the 3rd act...
normal critical strike chance/damage nodes also work for spells
the nodes do, but a Critical Strike Chance rolled on gear only affects Attacks and not Spells. Spells need a Critical Strike Chance for Spells to be rolled on your item to gain increased crit chance from that. For example: Power Siphon is an Attack so it benefits from the normal Critical Strike Chance and its base crit is inherited from the Wand you have equipped. Freezing Pulse is a Spell and it benefits from Critical Strike Chance for Spells on gear (normal crit chance in the tree does work). The base crit chance for Freezing Pulse is 6%.
You just made him 75 Ex and he gave you 5 Chaos? He's cheap.
More like 100-110 exalts And it's the first guy to actually give a tip, most people don't give jack shit. Still a bit sad that neither of those items dropped for myself, I would've liked a 3rd Shavronne's :v:
You just made him 75 Ex and he gave you 5 Chaos? He's cheap.
in for a chaos, in for an exalt :v: Back in the beginning days of OB, I used to make a goddamn bundle buying cheap Q. skill gems from the newbies and then reselling them for several gcp and exalted :v:
Got some Ex. to spare so I'm deciding on making a spellcaster. Looking to buy some CI / Spell crit gear. If anyone here has anything to sell(Standard) My buying thread
More like 100-110 exalts And it's the first guy to actually give a tip, most people don't give jack shit. Damn im so hyped for this expansion.
Jesus christ gem prices are messed up. Sold 4 Increased Item Quantity gems, level 1 for 17 Chaos each.. I bought my 20/20 IIQ gem for 1.5 Ex two months ago :v:

People are trying to buy them before they actually go Legacy to try & make a profit.

I'm sure they wont go legacy, GGG likes playing around with different things when it comes to new leagues.
The new end-game boss fight sounds like a bit of a grindfeast. You first have to go through areas in the game to have a chance of finding a super-difficult area and at the end of that, there is a chance to find one of four map pieces that can get you to her, which you get the usual 6 portals to. Imagine the group board being full of "LF Atziri" whereas only a few players actually have the map fragments, and those people may want to do it with friends or only accept people with some kind of ridiculous build to ensure success. I guess this is an attempt to make more people play together, but it doesn't sound that interesting for a more casual player like myself. I'll try going through the game to find those corrupted areas when the new expansion is out, but most likely sell any map fragments I come across unless they are easier than I expect to find.
