Doesn't sound all that dissimilar to the Baal boss fight in LoD - maybe a little harder than that once the balancing is tweaked. But lag will be a killer, no questions asked.
I'm sure they wont go legacy, GGG likes playing around with different things when it comes to new leagues.
Yeah, just like Kaom's, Shav's and Soul Taker didn't go legacy on release, right? [editline]1st March 2014[/editline]
The new end-game boss fight sounds like a bit of a grindfeast. You first have to go through areas in the game to have a chance of finding a super-difficult area and at the end of that, there is a chance to find one of four map pieces that can get you to her, which you get the usual 6 portals to. Imagine the group board being full of "LF Atziri" whereas only a few players actually have the map fragments, and those people may want to do it with friends or only accept people with some kind of ridiculous build to ensure success. I guess this is an attempt to make more people play together, but it doesn't sound that interesting for a more casual player like myself. I'll try going through the game to find those corrupted areas when the new expansion is out, but most likely sell any map fragments I come across unless they are easier than I expect to find.
It'll be the hardest boss fight so far, so obviously you'll have to grind some stuff before being able to play it. Just like Lv 78 maps sell for multiple exalts.
Yeah, just like Kaom's, Shav's and Soul Taker didn't go legacy on release, right?
Except Legacy Kaom's / Shav's and Soul Taker were horribly unbalanced. The new versions are far more balanced. I can see why IIQ gem might go legacy, 43% IIQ is huge compared to the 67% from IIR gem. They should just tweak it and not make it legacy, just half the IIQ amount you get from a 20/20.
But if they're going to tweak the IIQ gem, all existing IIQ gems will keep their stats aka become legacy
They should tweak all IIQ gems, existing ones aswell to have lower IIQ. Legacy items are bad imo. But I'm not gonna complain more. At the end of the day, if they make IIQ Legacy I will make some nice currency of it.
I agree on the fact that Legacy items are probably the worst choice GGG has made for this game, but they don't want to "ruin" items that players might have been saving up a lot of currency for.
Yeah, if they would have switched all existing Kaom's from 1K HP to 500 it would have been quite bad. But when it comes to a gem, especially something quite minor as a IIQ it doesn't make a huge differance. People are still going to use it because it's one of the best and only ways to increase your IQ. Current IQ levels are way to high, so many high level uniques are coming in to the game decreasing the value of these items in general. There's plenty of items that needs to be nerfed before IIQ aswell, Lioneye's Glare and Voltaxic Rift. You will rarely find a bow better then these. If you do the prices are outrageous. GGG should focus on the still OP items before going after gems.
Lioneye's Glare is an OK bow, but a good rare Harbringer bow is like ten times better. Both Lioneye's & Voltaxic are pretty balanced. There's nothing wrong with high end-game uniques. Voltaxic has a really low Phys Damage base so that evens out the rest.

Better rare bows are few and far between and for double or triple the price. When you have uniques like the Lioneye's Glare, Voltaxic Rift, Bino's Kitchen Knife, Kaom's Primacy and to a certain extent Marohi Erqi which are cheaper and better then the equivelant rare, something's wrong. I hope they change some weapons around to be more like Kaom's Heart, it's a very good item but a lot more niche with the 20-40% fire damage bonus. I'm not talking about nerfing them in to the ground, but remove some damage and maybe crit from the Bino's and it would go a long way to improving the state of unique weapons. This is just my opinion and feel free to disagree, I'm not going to argue over this topic anymore.
Im leveling a dual dagger Shadow, I just got him to level 31 and now I can use my Cast on Crit. I do Spectral Throw + LMP + CoC + Fireball I have 48% Crit Chance at the moment, so my screen is filled with fire. This is awesome.
What builds are you guys going for with this new league?
What builds are you guys going for with this new league?
Im going to try the dual spell totem build for witch, using raging spirits, for Ambush. If I make an Invasion character, itll be something super tanky with low damage, just to survive.
Rolling a Templar with Detonate Dead + Desecrate + Searing Bond on Invasion. I have all the gems planned out, just waiting for the tree changes now. My friend, with whom I'll be playing once the patch rolls out, is rolling a Ranger with Poison Arrow and Desecrate.
Crit Spectral Throw CI Shadow
I'm going Incinerate-Iron Will-Righteous fire-Arctic Armor Mara. Easy to level with incinerate and at lvl 65ish I can into RF (if I make it that far lol). It's like an artificial sun going supernova sometimes. Also kinda immune to reflect because of AA mitigation.
Am I the only one planning on not starting over in the new league? Doesn't really appeal to me.
I usually just play until my character dies and then I head back to my main characters.
I usually just play until my character dies and then I head back to my main characters.
I'm a SC only type of players, HC has never really appealed to me. Man, just blew my last Ex on a 6l EV/ES chest. Feel naked without a nice pile of Ex in my stash... Atleast I managed to get some nice gear for my new character and I'm happy I'm not going to just sit around in A1N trading all day. Legacy Bringer of Rain & Legacy Aegis, dear god I was thinking about buying both those items last week because of their chance of getting a legacy version. Damn, really should've done that.
Awww yisss! My buddy got an Aegis Aurora drop at Domminus and he gave it to me for my Bday! Also what happened to the divine orb? I wanted to get one for chaos but it got more expensive than exalts. It was like 10-12 chaos for a divine, now it's 22-24 :( I gues my harbi bow crafting got a lot more expensive...:suicide:

If I would have waited or postponed less then 24 hours I would have been able to sell it for three times that price. :suicide: Atleast I got Maligaros and some IIQ gems I plan to get to 20/20 and hold on to for a while. I really like the Rainbowstride changes, I need the resistances from them but I don't want to shell out 15 Exalts for a Legacy pair. I'll definitely trade some ES/Mana for the Resistances, allows me to focus jewelry on more offensive affixes.
I am ready for tomorrows patch. Stacked up on some IIQ and Prismatic Rings.
A few extra changes were added to the patch notes + info about the patch deployment schedule: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/811604
SotV Deployment Timeline and Updated Patch Notes We're deploying Sacrifice of the Vaal tomorrow! The countdown on the site and game client indicates the time that the game servers will be up (which is 15 hours from the time of this post). We're taking the game servers down one hour beforehand. The website will be down for about 15 minutes at the start of that downtime, and available with the new passive tree for the 45 minutes after that. Players will also be able to patch during that hour. We have also made some additional changes to the update that are listed after the cut. Added the following patch notes: -Increased the damage of Fireball at low and high levels. -Increased the damage of the following skills at low levels: Spark, Cold Snap, Ice Spear and to a lesser extent, Freezing Pulse and Storm Call. -Monster Unrighteous Fire now deals a controlled value of fire damage, rather than being based on maximum life. -Improvements have been made to early cast speed passives in the Witch and Shadow sections and to early attack speed and life passives in the Shadow section. We're investigating more detailed revamps of the caster classes (Witch, Templar and Shadow) in the future. -Adjusted the PVP scaling of Righteous Fire and Searing Bond. These have only been conservatively adjusted. A more thorough adjustment to PVP scaling of skills will be ongoing throughout 1.1.x.

I am ready for tomorrows patch. Stacked up on some IIQ and Prismatic Rings.
Prismatic Rings aren't going anywhere, you just can't get them as drops from mobs. Just use the vendor recipe :v:
Prismatic Rings aren't going anywhere, you just can't get them as drops from mobs. Just use the vendor recipe :v:
Well shit. At least I still have my IIQ gems.
Well shit. At least I still have my IIQ gems.
IIQ gems will shoot up in price over the next few months. Try level them to 20/20.
Offline skill tree calculator for 1.1: https://mega.co.nz/#!4FoEWQqY!1Q8fNIFushgE4s_5TMQsxODPxoJ3WsiYjMKhKiS0Rrw Some changes are really cool, but others will screw up builds big time.
Started leveling a CI Vaal Pact ST Crit build a few days ago. I'm not sure if my build will be viable post 1.10 with Vaal Pact and Leech nerf.
The mini-expantion is coming out today right? Can't wait to try it out!
Haven't been happier owning a bringer of rain than right now gonna start replaying this when the patch hits
