That's basically what happened for me. I stopped somewhere in Act II on my Level 21 Witch cause I just didn't care. I'm not sure if playing with a friend would help but I guess I'd need some sort of push or incentive to make me want to bother going through the whole game.
I like to think that acts will make leveling a bit more enjoyable. I always get bored on act 1 merciless.

Decided to go with Firetrap because it's a very satisfying skill and also because I have an imba rolled Searing Touch 6L. Been gathering some gear over the past month or so(I posted my Sunblast Belt here) since I have been very casual when it comes to PoE. I have never really played a trap build before so I am interested in some feedback from people who have. I'm currently around level 50 with 600-950 Damage from trap explosion and around 700 DPS from degen. This is not taking the fire pen in to consideration. I'm not sure if I should stick with my Sunblast or go for the new Atziri belt. The Atziri belt has 20-30% Fire Damage but also 1% Life Leech for Fire Damage. It would eliminate almost any need of HP Regen/HP Pots.

I saw Occultist's Vestment in the dark orange/brownish text and I almost screamed(I only had around 5-10 Ex at this point) and then when I saw it was an Infernal Mantle... I'm curious to see what sort of damage I can get with a 21/20 Fire trap. Not including the +2 from staff and +1 from Empower.

Unless you're going to have very high block Cybil's Paw isn't really worth it, and in my opinion even with high block there are better choices. Cybil's Paw is cheap alternative for people with high block, getting 90% Spell Damage, Cast Speed and a nice chunk of mana for a few Chaos is always nice. But yeah, just go on poe.xyz and find a nice Spell Damage wand.
I'm getting errors, like the game unable to load effects or music or the map alltogether, when I enter a new area, what should I do?

Those strongboxes do give you a ridiculously good loot, though. I am flooding over with armourer's scraps and blacksmith's whetstones.

It is also a lvl 1 gem, rewarded from killing Hillock. I made a new character, and found a rare two handed axe that is really fucking monstrous at level 4. Two shotted Hailrake, I think this axe doesn't need to be replaced until level 10-20.

I was in Act 2, in The Old Fields killing some stone titans, there was Gneiss, the big unique titan, and right next to it was a rare stone titan with an aura. After killing those two I walked five steps and found another rare stone titan, after I killed it I heard stomping behind me, I walked there and saw yet [I]another[/I] rare stone titan and killed it. Has anyone played a molten strike build? if so would you really recommend it for the 2 week race? Tempted to roll that over traps.
possibly, but there are better builds for it than the one in the build of the week
