Has anyone played a molten strike build? if so would you really recommend it for the 2 week race? Tempted to roll that over traps.
Lesser/Greater Multiple Projectiles works well with it because an enemy can be affected by multiple moltem rocks so you don't actually lose out on overall damage. Concentrated Effect reduces the magma explosion AoE only slightly, but since it also reduces the scatter area an enemy is more likely to get hit by multiple balls, multiplying the damage even further.
apparently point blank works on the projectiles so that's a no-brainer
apparently point blank works on the projectiles so that's a no-brainer
Was about for other builds I could use, but after reading that I Am sold.
who else is doing the race currently? as a non-hardcore player, this is extremely fun
So after over 100 hours playing this game and 26 hours on this character I finally got a character to level 60. I also got my first map, along with 6 more in a cartographers strongbox. I also got my first exalted orb, followed by a second an hour later. Today was a good day.

I'm guessing that's roughly ~750 hours for me 4 Exalted and 1 Eternal And I culled a Shavronne's once with my MFer but sadly it didn't drop for me, I'm pretty sure I've never found a big end-game unique, at least nothing over 2 ex value.
Only good thing that has really happened to me was after about a week of playing PoE. Some guy offered to buy my entire Spectral Throw Scion gear set for 30 Exalted Orbs, obviously I agreed. I pieced together a better set for around 10 Ex, used the rest to just merch my way to 100 Ex :v:
I mainly got my wealth from buying a Kaoms for 24 Exalts back in the day, and selling it for 180 Exalts after it became legacy :v:
I have 2 perfect roll daggers for crit chance / spell damage. Ive had people value each at around 18 ex.
my first challenge :)
I have 2 perfect roll daggers for crit chance / spell damage. Ive had people value each at around 18 ex.
If they were perfect they would be hundreds of Ex, maybe even thousands.
If they were perfect they would be hundreds of Ex, maybe even thousands.
Oh, I was being scammed then. I have the highest crit chance+crit damage, and the highest magic damage that you can roll.
Oh, I was being scammed then. I have the highest crit chance+damage, and the highest magic damage that you can roll.
Got a pic of the exact item and its stats?
Got a pic of the exact item and its stats?
Sure thing. I was planning on reinstalling PoE this weekend so maybe tonight ill have it. I might have it in my puush so let me look.
Sure thing. I was planning on reinstalling PoE this weekend so maybe tonight ill have it. No need to be ingame to check your items.
Being interested in this game's lore, I got a bit annoyed how the library always gave you a random fragment of lore (especially considering this is the stuff that explains most of the history up until the main plot of the game), so I decided to read it all on the gamepedia wiki for this game. Turns out that wiki has an entire page for the entire history of the continent and some of the referenced important characters. I really love how the game has a huge backstory with different factions reminding of ancient cultures and how it delivers this plot through fragments of information, allowing for a lot of theorycrafting. It's funny how a game with complex RPG mechanics also appears to have some complex lore behind it as well.
Okay so I just found 2 uniques less than 30 seconds apart from each other, both in the same ~3 meter area First a staff from a chest, then a quiver from an Artisan's Strongbox enemy What are the odds [editline],[/editline] The staff doubled my damage output too, +25 STR from belt means 5% bonus weapon damage from the STR bonus, and 32% bonus damage from the staff itself, this weapon is pretty neat since it scales with your stats. +200 STR = +40% melee physical damage from STR bonus, and +320% melee physical damage from the staff itself. Really neat.
I have a feeling the strongboxes may be a bit overpowered. I mean I now have stacks of blacksmith's whetstones and armorer's scraps to the point where I don't even need to collect upgraded items and that just on one character on the start of cruel. They also tend to drop a bunch of items I am not even sure I should have that many of in that particular part of the game. The strongboxes may also be a bit overpowered in another way by the fact that they may instantly kill you once you open them, but I guess that's just happening because I've reached merciless.
Well that's their point, rare strongboxes have high rewards but potentially high risks too. A lot of the items in them are shit, though. You can also identify them to see the mods (and be more cautious that way), and if you see white Gemcutter's boxes, you can upgrade them to be rare:
Oh, you can use items on them? That makes things a lot easier!
Most of them aren't worth using items on, normal Artisan's Strongboxes can be turned into magic ones to get a bunch more whetstones & scraps, but the two boxes you wanna keep your eyes open for are the Ornate Strongboxes (random items, increased rarity) and Gemcutter's Strongboxes (skillgems) since those have the best potential for items when turned rare. Large strongboxes aren't good in my opinion since turning them rare will most likely get you a couple more rares, but also 20 more commons and trash magics which you don't want.
Oh, you can use items on them? That makes things a lot easier!
You can also use Vaal Orbs to make everything inside corrupted.
You can also use Vaal Orbs to make everything inside corrupted.
Sometimes only some items will be corrupted, sometimes all. Not guaranteed to get all of them.
You can also use Vaal Orbs to make everything inside corrupted.
Not even worth it, if you get a semi-decent item you can't even improve it and nobody will buy it.
I just that having power charge on critical hit linked to your main skill is a terrible idea. Right now I'm doing a crit glacial cascade build, have yet to spend any points in power charges, and I have glacial cascade linked to: mana leech, power charge on critical hit, faster casting, added lightning damage. [del]Is having PCoC on your main skill THAT bad?[/del] Linked PCoC and GMP to ice spear, far more reliable to get crits, I'm never going back :v:
I'm looking to get back in to Path of Exile again, as I miss all the crazy builds you see. I made a Crit ST CI Shadow build a few months ago, it was pretty good and worked well late game. The only thing about CI is that a lot of the ES gear is rather expensive and the uniques required to run maps are pretty pricey and ate away at the capital for this character. I've decided to go for a nice, life base approach to the build. At a first glance I think it's a pretty solid build, decent amount of life(Especially on SC) and I managed to get every major Dagger, Crit and Crit Multiplier nodes in my area of the tree.
I had a similar char in ambush, using dagger+shield I'm not convinced about the 15% crit chance nodes, so I only picked up bloodthirst and left the other three going down to the 15%s near conduit also seems wasteful, and you missed the 30% mental acuity in the shadow area I also went this way to IR: instead of getting the extra frenzy charge for a little survivability and extra ST range, but your route is probably better [editline]14th July 2014[/editline] also if you get mind drinker you'll never run out of mana

I decided to drop the 5x 15% Crit nodes in favor of some more Health, Extra Frenzy Charge and Mental Acuity. I'm not sure if I should drop some HP nodes in favor of getting some shield nodes, as I will most likely be rocking a tri res, high hp, ev shield.
