- The second tier of bows (Short Bow) has a lower attack speed and increased damage to compensate.
did... did quill rain just get nerfed? :(
Oh, cool! Thanks. Here's hoping for some Storm Call changes. It is very difficult to use effectively right now!
iirc ZiggyD played Storm call up to end-game in 1.1, you could check his videos out. Also what setup are you using(Gem and gear wise?) If you're starting from scratch try to get a good spelldamage wand, will help you significantly.
on that note, you can give a blue wand, a topaz ring and an alteration orb to a vendor for a +1 lightning gems wand which will give a nice damage boost

I'm still struggling to get through normal with it. The enemies in Act 3 are extremely difficult with Storm Call, because they are very mobile, and Storm Call has a long delay before it actually strikes. It's also mana hungry like you wouldn't believe. So my build really isn't anywhere yet. It may prove more useful once I've got some proper gear and more of my passives, but Storm Call as an actual ability is just a bit disappointing at the moment. The damage output falls off in *oomph* factor fairly quickly (and is also a bit unreliable, due to the wide random range for lightning damage), the mana costs are prohibitive, and the overall design of the spell leaves you vulnerable against anything that doesn't slowly shamble or hold still. I find myself using my unsupported arc and spark abilities more often, because they're just more reliable.
I think what would really improve the feel of this spell is changing it to a channeled ability. For example: holding down the cast button allows you to place Storm Call markers, and releasing the cast button brings a blast down on all placed markers, either instantly, or after a very short delay (less than .5 seconds). This would allow you to either quickly blast out a single burst of lightning, or to pile up the markers for much wider coverage or more strikes in a single area. Removing or dramatically reducing that delay is pretty necessary for making Storm Call a bit more than an interesting distraction, in my opinion! Failing that, then a notable damage buff and mana reduction would probably be appropriate.
I'd like to join the FP guild. My character's name is wetghgfesr (AKA I mashed my keyboard for a unique name)

They're tweaking mana costs for a lot of abilities in 1.2 for early/mid levels so it should help with Storm Call. What gems do you have linked with Storm Call?
i take it there's still no "transaction log" for the guild stash that allows you to see who recently put in or took out items?
or basic guild permissions
or the ability to lock out withdraw/deposits per guild stash tab
or these long since promised features...
[t]http://i.imgur.com/F35RpBn.png[/t]
i'm glad they're still adding updates to gameplay, but i'd prefer it if they'd touch up guilds one of these days!
it's just extremely low priority, hardly anyone cares about guilds
probably nobody cares about guilds because they're basically just a friendslist/chat atm
Ye, I don't really see the point of guilds in a game like this.

Check this out: an aura calculator! Updated for 1.2 already. Is cool.

I guess the link would help.

An actual transaction log for items to see who put stuff in and who took stuff out could be super long and it's hardly a priority.
What do you mean with basic guild permissions? As a Guild Leader I can set permissions on guild tabs, I can make it so only Officers can drop and collect items from a specific tab, or make it so members can drop stuff but only Officers can take something out.
I just haven't set any of that up because I don't see the point. The only reason there are some officers in the guild is so that whenever someone here wants to join the guild, they can also invite them, else everything would have to go through me.
I'd happily make the guild more in depth with specific stash tabs for mapping, but I'm pretty sure only 3 or so people (including myself) have ever reached and played the endgame mapping system, so it would never get used anyway.
A lot of people wanted to join the guild when PoE came out of beta, but they only played for like a week and never came back. Out of 69 current members there are maybe 2-3 people on at the same time...
Does Alpha Howl reduce the amount of reserved mana for ALL auras, or only auras specifically socketed in that item? I only ask because it doesn't specify, whereas the Prism Guardian shield states pretty clearly that it only reduces the mana reservation for auras socketed in the item.
It reduces it for all auras.
Neat
I totes forgot about facepunch for a while lol.
So anyway I've come up with a staff CI crit witch, the skills are undecided yet. If I'm correct this build might sustain Arctic armor aswell. Thinkin' about using the Pillar staff but I'll do some research on staves, never used any. The pillar has a base 6.5-ish crit chance so it might be usable. On the other hand I can craft a nice crit staff with the new crafting mechanics.
Da build, preliminary 1.2:

OPINIONS, CRITICS GO!
If you're not filthy rich I wouldn't recommend crafting a good staff, they're the most annoying item to craft with the a ton of possible afixes.
If you dont have hundrerds of exalts to spare id just try to buy a mediocre one.
Oh neat, ghostflame weapon is on sale today, just what I wanted!
Are the new skill gems anywhere or do we have to wait a couple more hours to find out?
NEvermind patch notes are out.
Woo, just managed to finish patching before the launch of the new update.
oh geez, is the website down?
oh geez, is the website down?
Looks like it couldn't handle this much traffic.
Edit: and it's back, but its still very slow.
Fun little bug, if you have a new supporter pack and you upgrade to another one you get a duplicate Hideout Banner :v:

New Merveil as a Summoner is fun.
Still looking for the Masters.
I'm gonna be on PoE for months with this update...
Ive found masters quite a bit. Random areas too. My Armor master is level 3 and I got a hideout!!
I found Elreon in the Mud Flats, good think I picked Reave (I'm a shadow) before it or I'd been screwed (Elreon's quest details, in case anyone wants to play without knowing anything beforehand)[sp](his quest is a defense mission. You must protect a relic for X minutes while Elreon claims it. Lots of mobs will spawn around it, and will try to destroy it. When the time is up, the relic will make holy explosion and kill all remaining mobs and the quest will be completed. I don't know if all of his missions are like this though, I only did one.)[/sp].
Also, I found this in the lower prison:

And I liked the new Brutus and Deep Dweller fights, much less annoying and more entertaining than the originals.

The mission I got was different [sp]I had to destroy three relics before time ran out while being attacked by endless streams of explosive bastards, those zombies that create slowing things when they die and gulls, it was in the zone after shipyard IIRC[/sp]
damn, it really did get nerfed, used to be 3.11 APS
