The nicest of dudes, that Flashcat.
Heyo, quick question! I am working on an searing bond build (I put poison arrow on Hiatus for a lil' bit after realizing that a core piece of equipment for it costs about a bajillion exalts) with Elemental Equilibrium to further reduce resistances to fire. I was also hoping to use Flame Trap's burning ground damage as extra DPS against bosses and such, since the passive and gem setup I've got laid out could create patches of burning ground that easily deal 5000+ DPS, on top of my Searing Bond totem burn damages. However, the initial blast of Fire Trap would proc fire resistance, which is no bueno.
What I'd like to know is: will adding an Added Cold or Added Lightning damage support gem to Fire Trap help with that? Would it trigger, dealing fire damage and proccing elemental equilibrium and triggering a resistance to fire, and THEN calculate the added lightning damage and change the resistance buff to lightning instead of fire, so that my burning ground and searing bond burn damage can stack up?
Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words :v:
Also I don't think it would work. You can, however, throw a Fire Trap and then cast something cheap like a lv1 Ice Nova to increase the burn damage of Searing Bond or the Fire Trap DoT.
When is Elemental Equilibrium useful/What builds make the best use of it? If you use a spell that does fire + cold damage, it just grants +25% to fire and cold resist and -50% to lightning, meaning if you want to make it useful you need to alternate spells which seems either expensive on your item sockets or just really slow to use.
Cast on Crit comes to mind when thinking of working builds, since you can combo Arc + Arctic Breath + Fireball and since they all are different spells/different damage sources, when one spell hits the other two get beefed up.
Also if your attack/spell deals all 3 elemental damage types, does that mean that Elemental Equilibrium just adds +25% resist to all elements?

It's mainly used for Searing Bond and Righteous Fire.
Both those skills are a degen effect, the player doesn't actually deal damage to the mobs it's the skill itself, meaning you won't get hurt by reflect too.
They also don't change the resist around for Elemental Equilibrium, if that makes sense.
If I were to cast Ice Nova, it would reduce the enemies Fire Resist with Elemental Equilibrium so my Righteous Fire burn damage would deal more damage, but the RF damage itself won't proc Elemental Equilibrium to make the enemy resistant to Fire damage. You only need to cast Ice Nova once to make your enemy weak to Fire / Lightning damage when you use Searing Bond / Righteous Fire.

Directly from the wiki:
f you hit an enemy with two different elements at the same time it will give -50% Resistance to third element and +25% to both elements used. A hit carrying all three elements types will give +25% to all elemental Resistances.[1]
Searing Bond is pretty cool! It's very hands off, does amazing damage with even dead basic beginner gear, is great with an increased item rarity support gem so you can get more magic find, etc. It's a bit hilarious with Elreon quests, too. I'd highly recommend a searing bond build for anybody who is flat broke or new to the game.
I find snoozing bond rather boring to play, I leveled up a marauder with it in Invasion league and yeah it was easy and had no specific gear requirements, just stack life and resists.
In the end I just abbandoned the character because I couldn't stand the playstyle anymore.
It's not terribly engaging, you're right about that, but I'm still having a pleasant time with it. I'm considering not going the elemental equilibrium route and using fire traps for extra damage, just so that I have a bit more interactivity, but I dunno! Either way, Searing Bond is an excellent skill for people with low or no funds. It's a safe pick to get to the end game and has a fast clear speed, so you can grind maps for more dosh.
Absolutely, no doubt about that! It's still a great skill to level a character with and then respec into something else once you're high enough level to set up your real build.
I just can't see myself doing maps with Searing Bond, or any totem based build for that matter. I much prefer a build with more interaction instead of putting down a totem and waiting around a corner. Strangly enough I'm a big fan of Righteous Fire but at least there I'm cycloning through packs while evaporating them, so I'm actually doing something.
I get what you mean, definitely. I gotta admit, I was having more fun with firestorm and flameblast while leveling up to get searing bond, even though they took a lot longer! I may reroll eventually, but I'm still having a good time with this for now.
When I wanted to levelup a marauder I just grab facebreakers and punch faces
is this a low roll for facebreakers

Yes, max is 800% unless you have a pair from before the nerf, then max is 1000%
Specifically the roll is from 600-800%

Puncture is awesome.
Im loving this new expansion, the missions are hard and the reworked boss fights are awesome
I have a question, It is possible to link Vaal haste + Generosity + Spell totem to prevent the generosity downside? If the totem cast the aura it should affect you
I just alched this quiver... exactly the stats I need (almost perfect, could have had the other crit stat).

Thats fucking nuts. Storm Call does some big DPS but its hard to land all your shots on a target. With an AOE that big it may be really viable.

yeah, unfortunately to get that much aoe you need to construct your entire build (gear and skills) around increased aoe, but maybe it's possible to strike a balance
Are there any conversion trap builds? I don't rememebr seeing one.
I Guess minion nodes not affecting converted mobs makes it a poor choice
I chance orbed this... damn that troll flat phys roll! So close to being amazing.

as far as I know you can't use Vaal skills on a totem
Wow apparently there is an exile with a lil deer as pet. I couldn't catch his name, he died in like a quarter of a second :D.

Do minions get the " Reflects 1–1000 Physical Damage to Attackers on Block" from the thousand teeth if I have necromantic aegis?
Presumably, yes.
Man, I've used like 500 alts trying to get a good harbinger bow craft base lol.
Do minions get the " Reflects 1–1000 Physical Damage to Attackers on Block" from the thousand teeth if I have necromantic aegis?
It should. But the common consensus among Summoners is that necromantic aegis is not worth it. As a Summoner a shield is a large part of your defense and is very vital for your survival on higher end maps.
For the first time I managed to get a character to merciless without getting murdered once. Promptly after I got to ledge I went to a corrupted zone there and got one shot by the boss, then died another three times in the next few minutes. No deaths in 22 hours, then 4 in 10 minutes, sigh.

Such is life in Wraeclast. You're going to die fairly often on Merciless especially if you're leveling from scratch or haven't got good enough gear and resists.
