Managed to get high life added to both items which would have been semi-useless without.
I've got a couple of questions about CWDT, as I'm wondering about the possibility of a build utilizing it as my main attack trigger.
First: does CWDT only trigger for the amount of received damage, or the total amount of incoming damage? For example, if I take a hit that would have dealt 100 damage, but my armor reduces it to 50 damage, do I get 100 damage towards my CWDT trigger, or 50?
Second: Does CWDT work with all damage, regardless of source, or does it have to be an attack from an enemy?
What I'm considering is whether or not it would be possible to make a Righteous Fire build that rapidly triggers a high-level CWDT gem linked with Arc (an auto-targeting spell), or possibly discharge or other AOE abilities. With high resistances and high life regen, Righteous Fire could be sustained indefinitely. Depending on whether resistances count towards the CWDT trigger or not, it could easily reach the cap of 4 spell-casts per second. With Spell Echo on Arc, that's 8 arcs per second. Multiple CWDT gems could be employed to cast other spells and abilities. As an added bonus, Righteous Fire boosts spell damage by quite a bit!
The hopeful end-result is a character that can be completely mobile while constantly spamming spells triggered by his CWDT gems and Righteous Fire.
Course, this is all moot if RF doesn't trigger CWDT. So, help???

It triggers on the damage you take and not the damage you mitigate. I have a hard time imagining a viable build that uses CWDT as a main ability.

What's the point with cast on death?
Does it cast a spell when YOU die or when a monster die?
Because casting a fireball that might not kill the monster when I die seems pointless. I just don't see anything being cast on death be usefull, maybe except Town Portal

Casts a spell when [I]you[/I] die, and no, it doesn't work on pets/zombies/summons. Seems mostly worthless, although you can use it as a big "Fuck you" spell in PvP.
It's pretty good for troll builds. You can also use it to nuke difficult bosses in suicide runs. Clear the little guys with your main, switch characters, and kamikaze that sucker. Maybe slap on a load of item rarity/quantity gear, since defenses mean nil when your entire purpose is to die.

Would the gem be balanced if it worked on dying minions, but with reduced damage? Something like -90% damage at level 1, and -3% damage reduction per level (so it is -90%, -87%, -84%, etc.) or -2% damage reduction per level? Keep the increased damage on self to allow suicide builds to work.
The only reason I haven't made a summoner build yet is that the zombies run like disabled children.

cast on death + portal is the only use i have ever had of it
... and then its still a waste of 2 sockets
Hell Town Portal in itself is useless, I find TP scrolls up the butt making the gem completely useless.

Sockets are so much more valuable than an inventory space. Especially wit the addition of checkpoint spawning there's very little use of it.
Is it just me, or do both 74+ maps and alchemy orbs seem really scarce in the new leagues?
today I spent some chaos rolling a cartographer's box to expand my map pool.
I rolled the +1 Rare item and Mirrored mods on it, yet the only thing the box dropped was a rare 68 map...
Just a single 68 map, I'm so confused shouldn't it be at least mirrored by the mirrored mod

It would seem that mirrored mod doesn't affect +#magic/rare/unique items.

Give it time, it might increase if people find more crappy uniques and selling fodder for the vendor recipes. In any case people will be more inclined to alch their good white items in the hope of getting a decent rare, especially in a closed environment like the leagues.
