IF you get your hands on a 6 Link, you can drop the Blood Magic and Resolute Technique Keystone and swap over to this tree, note that it does require some additional levels so alternatively you could spec out of some extra damage nodes so you can get the reduced mana reservation nodes. These should let you run 2 60% auras of your mana while using the Blood Magic gem to cast your skills. Skills: Single Target 4 Link: Frenzy / Life Leech / Weapon Elemental Damage / Faster Attacks (or Blood Magic if you dropped the Blood Magic Keystone) 5 Link: Frenzy / Life Leech / Weapon Elemental Damage / Faster Attacks / Added Fire Damage (or Blood Magic if you dropped the Blood Magic Keystone) 6 Link: Frenzy / Life Leech / Weapon Elemental Damage / Faster Attacks / Added Fire Damage / Blood Magic These are your main 2 attack skills that you'll be using. Other skills you want to use are Enduring Cry for survivability. Warlord's Mark is also a pretty neat curse to use for leveling, end game you can consider using something like temp chains or Enfeeble to reduce risks of dying.
Thanks for the hints. Currently using a hybrid between split arrows and rain of arrows. Split arrows was replaced by a lighting arrow gem with a lesser projectiles gem.
Also guys, a small thing that could make your life a lot easier. Go to Options > UI and Check "Show Life/Mana Levels", "Show Mini Life bar on Allies / Enemies" The latter will make it look something like this, so you can see when mobs are close to dying
don't forget to toggle minimap in that menu as well, so you don't have to hit [TAB] every time you want to see the map
Welp, I just died in 1 hit to Vaal Oversoul. Didn't know he could 1 shot you with 1 attack(the smash?).
Whats up with Righteous Fire? It seems so pointless

It used to be very strong but they nerfed it so hard in the 1.0.0 patch that you actually can't use it anymore, maybe in 1 very specific build but I doubt it's even worth it.
Oh wow, are all unique/legendary (orange) weapons looks like shit? I mean, they don't even use "unique" skin. Got an insane greataxe yesterday but it looks like a normal lvl1 axe only holden by two hands.

Arts are sure cool, but they still look like a normal weapons on character. I think i saw in the trailer something about combining gems to make unique skills... I'm level 18 and i've yet to see this. well i've got a gem that adds %22 extra fire damage for 30% more mana but it doesn't make anything look different.

GGG is trying to create special 3D art for every unique, but obviously it's a lot of work.

Righteous Fire is still pretty good. You can use it with an extremely high energy shield and very high life regen. The new unique belt would probably help tons with it now too.
So I've decided to try Path of Exile and read through the official materials on the site. Is there anything else I should know? Would Templar be a good starting class?
So I've decided to try Path of Exile and read through the official materials on the site. Is there anything else I should know? Would Templar be a good starting class?
I had more close calls on Templar, unlike Ranger. So I'd say start as Ranger.
Templar is the best. You get to bash fuckers as an old man, what more could you ask for?
So I've decided to try Path of Exile and read through the official materials on the site. Is there anything else I should know? Templar can definitely be good if you want to use minions (Necromancer) or other spells, but if you want ranged attacks go for ranger or duelist. Ranger for more "pure" survival through damage, Duelist for a somewhat tankier guy who can still use a bow really well.
So I've decided to try Path of Exile and read through the official materials on the site. Is there anything else I should know? Would Templar be a good starting class?
Go templar, invest in 2-handed weaponry and health regen - win the game.
Melee playstyles tend to be more risky, so go for something ranged.
Can you be more specific, please? I'd like to get (back) into PoE and am eager to get useful information before choosing a class.
Templar has the most chivalrous ass armour compared to other melee classes.
holy shit, my nemesis elemental templar just died to a hexfont rare caster in the chamber of sins with allies have energy shield, i did basically no damage to any of the mobs since they had tons of elemental resistance and just melted to lightning damage. rip in peace pringles_guy
Finally able to crack at this game since the beta. I remember when everyone was going for LMP + Lightning arrows that shit was so OD
Can you be more specific, please? I'd like to get (back) into PoE and am eager to get useful information before choosing a class.
Ranged classes are out of reach from the melee units, and at long range you can easily dodge spells and arrows too. If you go melee you usually need to invest quite heavily into health, which means less damage, which means enemies take longer to kill, which means they have more time to attack you. To counter this melee spells are usually stronger though. But ranged classes/necromancers are better if you haven't played all that much in higher difficulties, melee classes feel really damn strong early on, but when you go to harder difficulties things start to get much harder very fast and you tend to die faster than you'd expect. Rangers often rely on avoiding the damage altogether by being too far to attack, or by manually dodging the enemies' attacks. This means even in late game you're as survivable as you were in early game.
So I've decided to try Path of Exile and read through the official materials on the site. Is there anything else I should know? Would Templar be a good starting class?
Templar is probably the safest class for beginners, the Templar starting area has tons of health, resistances and defensive nodes.
Oh, i recently obtained two unique items. That same limbspitter axe (with delightfully stupid amounts of damage, though more of my abilities are mace-centric) and a ring which i may have possibly borrowed from the fp guild chest... (i put some good stuff in to compensate) Seriously though; Since i got that axe i've just been jumping around like the hulk. It's got twice over twice the damage of the mallet i was using previously but i've lost my mallet specific aoe. Coupled with a bit of mana leech i rarely need to do anything else. (double strike and bear trap for bosses, but that's not realy bad either.) Marauder is pretty safe. Grab life leech and a load of aoe abilities; you've won the game. The only downside is that you look realy awkward as a dark, naked, muscular man with poorly fitting armour.
