I guess I have a reason to not just watch beta streams all day and keep progressing. It may not allow trading, but I do hope it at least allows parties. I'd be down for helping out any online members of the guild get a beta key if the same courtesy was extended to me.

I feel oddly happy just stockpiling chaos orbs. I'm not at a point where I can seriously use them for crafting though I have rerolled stuff a couple times just to see the result, and I rarely buy anything (mostly gems, and even then I've only bought maybe 4), but I get to clear out all the other crafting types I don't use and slowly build up chaos. Maybe it's because I've only ever had 2 drop for me and I so often see trades listed in chaos that it might as well be the gold equivalent for me, which I like to hoard in other games.

While I know Chris was honest about the future plans for Path of Exile, saying he was unsure about where it could possibly go after the end of this upcoming act, I wonder if they'll go on for a while by adding skill gems and endgame content.
Personally if they continue on beyond Act 4, they'd have to send us out somewhere else entirely. Wraeclast might have become too big for the Exile, thus an investigation into the nature of the Beast and where it came from could suffice for future content.

There will be 35 keys given away to random players above 70.
I think if you get 70 in both you will double your chances.
Well, that seems more reasonable. I bet I could reach 70 in that time if I played nonstop for as long as I could for the event. Most of my slow progression is down to me playing in half hour sprints with couple hour breaks more than anything. Though I may come up against a wall in Merciless. On my witch I had only died 10 times before hitting Merciless and most of those were in normal when I was still undergeared, the other few were me getting oneshot by strongboxes in cruel (and dominus) because I figured fuck it, it's standard, I'll just come back in through the portal.
Edit: I may end up losing a day though because there's a party planned that happens to start right when the event does.
I'm going to try a crit ball lightning build for the race. Hopefully the skill works fine without slower projectiles.
Ball lightning is great and works fine without slower projectiles. (Although the new slower proj will probably change that) I've done ball lightning a couple times and I don't think it needs crit, it doesn't even need AoE really.
I'm going to do fire trap proliferation because I might as well do it before the prolif nerfs. I'd do explosive arrow but fuck doing that self found.

Now that the leagues have merged I can test it using my character from the one month, with the alright wands I got my ball lightning DPS is 3848 with a 20% lvl 17 BL, lvl 18 faster casting and lightning penetration, and lvl17 spell echo and added chaos.
With a 5L 149% Pledge of Hands, my DPS is... 3898. Woop-de-fuckin' do. My mana is doubled sure, but I'm not using a CoD. I lose out on some cast speed and 2% lightning damage leech.
My spell damage/cast speed/lightning leech wands cost me like 30c in total, whereas a 5L Pledge is currently 9 ex on standard. v:v:v
Reason I wanted to test it was because I've seen a lot of people recommend Pledge of BL builds and I had my doubts.

I haven't used ball lightning. But what are you support gems are you using in your PoH? Also, PoH really shines when using a CoD. That 100% mana is in-valuable.
PoH should boost your damage by just that Spell Echo alone, unless you were running some double wand build.
I started playing again and have a level 25 duelist, what kind of build should I have for him? I have no clue, I went for Facebreaker because it looks cool but I'm not sure what i really want.

Facebreaker is viable for any class. I think your best bet is to check the Path of Exile forum, there are a ton of leveling/just-starting-out builds which transition pretty well over to mapping.

Oh right. I put my spell echo into the Pledge, woops :v: Put a lvl16 added lightning in there, got to 4.4k. I know it's good for CoD, I used it on the original build it was on. But I think it's a bit overrated and costs too much for how good it actually is, for 9 ex I could probably get two godlike wands and make my DPS skyrocket.

Facebreakers are really good, gear can be a bit expensive though.
All the shit I'm seeing about the changes being made for 2.0 have me stoked. First thing I'm doing is making a Poison Arrow build. One of my favorite minor changes is that Slower Projectiles has had its damage modifier changed from "increased" to "more!" That will make a huge difference in a lot of builds. Puncture, Poison Arrow, and ball lightning will benefit a lot. The new Fire Nova skill looks like a blast, too.
