any idea on how to improve said survivability? i think im doing fine... ofc things can always be improved
More life on gear, possibly switch one doryani to a defensive shield, better flasks and maybe grab the endurance charges right next to you on the tree.

Seems to be purely for cast on damage taken builds, which is kinda lame.
Would be alright if they made it work while moving. Chill enemy on hit sounds great for Hypothermia though.

25% of your mana for a 4.20 seconds buff?
Are they trying to kill AA?
That duration is the duration of the frozen ground it leaves.
Oh that makes sense, so the buff is a permanent cast then much like an the Heralds?
I hope something similar is done to Righteous Fire so it doesn't require a Rise of the Pheonix. Maybe a health reservation of 25%-40%.

You can craft a "take reduced damage from damage over time effects" on a shield and it will be as good as rise of the phoenix.

The reduced fire damage says "when hit," which would not apply the damage reduction to degeneration effect of something like Righteous Fire, if I'm understanding PoE's mechanics correctly. Still though, this seems absurdly strong. With just AA and Fortify, you can easily get a flat 30%+ reduction to both physical and fire damag. Once you factor in resistances and armor? You could become practically immune to both.

How? This is a useful and powerful defensive option for practically any build.
[editline]5th June 2015[/editline]
Hell, combine it with a Mind Over Matter and a good mana pool with plenty of regen. Fortify, (20% less), Arctic Armor (10%+ less) and MoM (30% less), and you've got a character that takes at least 50% percent less damage from all sources, with an additional 10% or more less damage from physical and fire.
My first character after the wipe is definitely going to be a Templar.

A cloak of flame would make you even more tanky.
As for the righteous fire without ROTP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLwzTZxIrk8

Ye, I know about Leo's mod! I just meant that Arctic Armor probably isn't going to help with Righteous Fire because of its wording specifying damage reduction from hits.
Totally forgot about Cloak of Flame, though. So you could potentially mitigate as much as 80%of your physical damage, 60% of your fire damage, and 50% of all other damage with nothing but a keystone, a cheap unique, and a couple gems. That's before your regular elemental resistances, block chance, armor, etc. That seems crazy.
(Unless I have completely most misunderstood how this shit works!)
[editline]5th June 2015[/editline]
On a related not, Leo is a huge bitch to level, and it's annoying that there are PvE build-enabling modifers locked to a PvP specific Master.

It's going to be a lot harder to support MoM in 2.0 with the changes to EB. You're going to have to invest a lot in to mana nodes/mana on items. A large chunk of your mana is going to be reserved for various buffs leaving only a small buffer.

you're right here, but the main issue is that AA has always been a caster defence, now it favours melee more than anything
and as you showed, melee has some great defensive options already
honestly, they should have made this a new skill

I don't think the new EB is any worse in this situation, you just have to look at recharging your ES somehow, say zealot's oath, instead of stacking mana, and probably using blood magic for your attacks
a little harder, but you can reserve your entire mana pool as an upside

Oh man nice! I dont get mine until this weekend.
Divination cards are in the beta.
Vaal pact is between ranger and shadow now, removed the 40% less leeched, reduced life leech sources by about 5 times, leech can stack.
Increased damage effectiveness of a lot of skills.
Wands and such can have added damage to spells on them now.

You guys probably have some knowledge about the game. My level 79 groundslam Marauder only has 14.9k DPS on groundslam (W/ Hatred and Herald of Ash on) and 4.4k health. I feel like he should be better, but I'm not sure what to do with him?

Work on upgrading some of your gear. Gloves should be upgrade to a good AR pair with life/res/ias. Boots should be upgraded to a good AR pair, optimal would be life, tri res, ms. But duo res would do fine. Belt should be upgraded to a Rustic Sash with duo/tri res, life and possibly #AR or %Ele dmg.
You could link Leap Slam with curse on hit and put something like temp chains, enfeeble, warlords mark or something similair. Will help you with tougher packs, and will curse everything you leap in to. Work on getting a 5L as it's invaluable, I'd recommend a chest since you'll want to upgrade from the Marohi sooner rather than later. Jewelry needs some work too, life/leech/res/#phys would be good to have, maybe % fire because of HoS/Hatred. Upgrade from the Astral plate when you feel comfortable with the rest of your gear. Good upgrades could be something like Kaom's Heart, Daresso's Defiance, Belly of the Beast, Carcass Jack or a good rare chest. Just pick whichever appeals to you the most, Belly of the Beast is rather cheap and % Life scales incredibly well now.
If you want to increase your offense, a good way is to maintain Onslaught. Allowing you to chain multiple packs at a time. Easiest ways to do this is either with a Death's Rush ring or Daresso's Defiance. Giving you 20% IAS/CS/MS.
Thanks, that's all good to know and I'll keep an eye out for equipment with those stats. What about my helmet? I didn't see you mention anything specific about it, same with my passive tree (anything that really needs changing it that?)
I'm also somewhat new when it comes to the terminology, but what does AR mean? Armor?
[editline]17th June 2015[/editline]
Also what in particular might be a decent upgrade to the Marohi? It's the only item I've ever bought from another player (a week back when I came back to the game) for cheap, but I don't know what a better item for groundslam would be?

AR = Armor
EV= Evasion
ES = Energy Shield
IAS/CS = Increased Attack Speed/Cast Speed
MS = Movement Speed.
Your build is looking solid, I'd recommend going for the Endurance Chargers and Diamond Skin node, 45% Total Res in one node isn't bad at all. For the helmet you have a few options, either go for a good rare helmet with your standard Life/tri res and good AR. Or you could go for something like Alpha's Howl to increase the levels of your auras by two or possibly a Bringer of Rain which will give you a 7L single target attack.
Alpha's Howl will pull your defences down, since you're using Unwavering Stance without Iron Reflexes, which will nullify the EV. Bringer of Rain is a decent option, they're also pretty cheap if you go for a non-legacy version. It will give you decent life(120-160 is the roll, I believe.) It will also give you Faster Attacks, Melee Phys. Damage and Blind, on top of the 4L in the helmet. Downside is that it costs you a lot of possible sockets, and because it has no res, you might lack a bit of resistances forcing you to pick it up on more offensive items(such as jewelry.)
But really, I would aim for a good rare helmet over any other for now. It's the most reliable option.
Also what in particular might be a decent upgrade to the Marohi? It's the only item I've ever bought from another player (a week back when I came back to the game) for cheap, but I don't know what a better item for groundslam would be?
There's no unique two handed mace that's better than a Marohi, but a good rare would be better. You don't seem to be built around stun, so if you switched all you'd lose is the built in increased AoE but you'd want a 5L anyway and you could put that in yourself.
