I wonder if our home instances will get stables with PoF. Couple that with all the cats and we could be well on our way to our own private zoos.

Well we did get a menagerie in the first game for ranger pets. The place was a pretty large island where each of the 30 or so pets got their own habitat.
Pre-nerf? Were they nerfed? Last time I flew by one of these fuckers I got smashed midday and plummeted to the lowest layer of the jungle
First HoT beta was pure nightmare. Mordrem sharpshooters were nerfed real hard like 2-3 times since then. Back then veteran sharpshooter was able to oneshot anyone with <14k hp.
The expansions confuse me with this game. I'm 22 levels away from level 80 but I'm wondering if its worth purchasing thorns or should I just get to 80, do base game content then just buy path of fire?
Should buy HoT, Imo, mostly to have gliding for the moments you'll really need it, the other masteries are handy but only in the HoT zones.
Speaking about that, I bought the expansion bundle and I'm really, really enjoying HoT, it makes me even more excited for PoF.

Will do then.. the masteries being tied to zones is a weird thing, it's why I was questioning the upgrades. It is only 12 pound on cdkeys atm so I'll buy it tomorrow.
so revenant legends actually talk to the rev now(like how it was intended at HoT launch) and there's a bunch of lines that they can say, but so far i've just been threatened by Mallyx about 13 times and Jalis hasn't said a single word to me
I've only heard one line each from Shiro and Glint. It's cool, but variety would be nice.
Yeah, whatever Demon is, he keeps threatening me and my Sylvari just keeps laughing in his metaphysical face.
I actually used a level 40 scroll and tomes to boost a character so now I have my Ele all set up for Weaver. All I need is the hat to come out and her to be able to hold a sword, which'll be Caudecus's Sword. Inspiriation is really obvious but I'm still really pleased with how the outfit looks.

There should never be a time when you are NOT Red Mage.
Holosmith looks much better than Scrapper. Wish I could use a hammer with it.
a really, really nice hat
I can't find this hat in the Wiki, where did you find that?
I'm toying around with Deadeye this beta. I can't foresee Deadeye becoming meta in PvP due to the massive amount of mobility you lose (and thief's role has always been to decap), but it's actually a very formidable dueler. I've found spots in maps where Death's Retreat allows you to Shadowstep up and away, and the additional mobility with Shadowstep and Shadow Flare allows you to keep distance whilst your malice builds up on your target. In addition, since steal traits carry over, you essentially have a 1500 range interrupt. When fighting mesmers, once thing to note is your mark instantly resets upon the death of a target, so there's no major harm in marking the mesmer clone, as mark will instantly refresh when they shatter/die.
It's really fucking fun.
I wonder why they decided to make this Elite Spec weekend PvP and WvW only when the one for HoT had all open world. Im more interested in open world and I'd like to get a good assessment of stuff.

I'm literally never going to touch the PvP so this weekend is not bringing me in at all. If I weren't invested in the game already, this would absolutely not be a selling point for me as a potential player. I played a weekend of PvP in the original Guild Wars during its first year. I don't care about PvP at all in MMOs and I hate the focus many put on it.
Firebrand has awful healing. Tome of Resolve has a huge cool-down, even when traited, and the skills themselves dish out pretty lackluster heals. Pretty disappointed, and hoping they improve this in future.
edit: im dumb I found out how to increase healing effectiveness massively. The long CD though is still really, really lame.
edit: firebrand fukin rools im way too impulsive in voicing my opinion
Trying out builds would be far easier if i could save the ones that work

What was the mistake you were making? I've been looking to make a healing support Guardian build for a while and Firebrand's tomes seemed interesting for that

Yeah, I really wish they implemented saving templates like in GW1.

There's a shit-ton more you can do in PvE for healing effectiveness, but both honor + virtues is an excellent trait-line. Be sure to grant aegis for big heals, use Bow of Truth for a great healing AoE, and grant quickness to boost your healing effectiveness. It's also good to pop Page 5 on Tome of Resolve which will increase your healing effectiveness by 33%. Make sure to also trait for resolve's passive to apply to your allies, and to trait for passives working during cool-down.
I really did not expect Holosmith to be so goooood.
Finally as an engi main I can actually be popular :v:. But seriously holy fucking hell the forge is waaaay overtuned (I imagine on purpose).
The animations and flow of the spec though are on point too.
I have some 'first impressions' of mine on what each elite spec feels like, without going into matches and just bashing golems, because I just don't really care for PvP.
Firebrand feels dope, loving it, probably will main it over Dragonhunter in PvE because longbow is meh for PvE unfortunately(even though it feels good to shoot from distance, the damage is just isn't there) and axing seems cool enough. Unsure about its damage for power build tho, hoping it will be on same level as sword at least. Tomes are awesome, and Mantras are okay.
Spellbreaker feels like a slightly different dagger/dagger thief, dunno seems ok, doesn't really stand out to me.
Renegade feels good, I like the shortbow skills, F2-4 skills are also neat and I really REALLY like how different Renegade feels from Herald - no more watching my mana go down like mad because Im shitting out protection and healing for allies. Really looking forward to it in PvE. Love that shortbow is medium range unlike Ranger shortbow.
Speaking of, Soulbeast - seems to be a great damage-oriented spec. Definitely my go-to for condi build, screw Druid. Shame I cant poop on people as a Raven, but I can dash into people with claws, which is neat, and stances only support that.
Deadeye, fuck am I hyped to use it in PvE. I seriously love the idea of having these huge maps in PoF and being able to sit aside and shoot the enemies while my allies do close-range fighting. Feels like a different profession, yet still feels like a Thief.
Holosmith feels great, will take some time getting used to, but I like what it has to offer so far. Looks like it will be better for PvE than Scrapper, thank fuck for that, Im looking forward to trying it out. The skills at least have got me very excited to learn all of them and the Forge.
Mirage Im confused about, because Mesmer(incl Chronomancer ofc) is my least played profession play-time wise and I just dont understand most of it still, and Mirage confuses me even more. Or maybe im dumb. Axe is cool tho. And dodging is different.
Scourge feels like a good support, I like it. I adore supportive classes and this one just feels great that it can give out shields(altho Weaver can too), didnt really see the sand zombies I was thinking of though, maybe I was imagining things, but I like this alternative to Death Shroud.
And last but sure as fuck not least - Weaver. This one is hard. All these weapon and element combos that produce different skills feels so great, but it will take a whole bunch of time getting used to it feels like, and in the battle it feels like it will be so cool to use it but you gotta be careful with what elements you mix to get maximum results. I will probably keep Tempest for large group events because doot-doot healing and support is fun.
I'm now a lot more excited for the xpack. I hope to get some money for at least normal edition. Huge maps, mounts, premise for a good story and some very exciting elite specs all makes me really excited for it.
Im excited about Soulbeast because it has really good synergy with all the builds my other rangers use, power and condi.
Also as a warrior main, Im not sure how I feel about Spellbreaker. It seems like it'll be a good WvW spec and maybe PvP too (I know my PvP warrior builds are super dependant on Berserker) But I dont see it getting much use in PvE at all. Most NPCs dont have boons so a lot of the boonstripping skills are kinda moot, unless they really change that in PoF. I still feel like Berserker will be better for PvE though.
Holosmith is a beast, so much that I wouldn't be surprised if what we get on release is a bit neutered compared to the current state. It looks and feels amazing, finally a kickass PVE option.

Not just PvE Roo, believe me. This spec is what I've been waiting for since old SD engineer.
WvW here I come.
Seems like scourge and holosmith might be the most powerful ones so far. At least the ones with the least effort needed to be powerful.
Holosmith seems cool, and Weaver is fun. Glad I've got an Engi and Ele at 80 just waiting. Engi needs more hero points though since the ones he had were going in to Scrapper.
Just tried Mirage, I really like it. Looking forward to it.
Turns out I like spell breaker a lot.

Turns out the dagger range sucks ass. You can't do the stun combo unless you're literally inside an enemy, and that never happens unless they're afk or braindead.
