story spoilers on fourth part/instance/chapter thing [sp]Didn't expect Rytlock to give his story that early on at all. The story seems a lot more mature and much more well paced that HoT's and I am loving it.[/sp]
I have mixed feelings about PoF, mainly because of the maps - I don't have a big incentive to revisit Crystal Oasis or Desert Highlands, other than bounties which don't give that great of loot. They basically become slightly altered champ trains, but the bosses themselves are cool. My friend said that Elon Riverlands does have a meta closer to the southern border so I'll check that out, and I hope that other two maps have some good metas there, because meta(or lack thereof) will make or break this whole xpack for me. The maps look awesome however, even on lowest settings I love the environments we visit, it all looks and feels so fucing awesome. Much better than the packed in jungle we had before. Yeah the elite specs might be awesome and mounts might feel great, but if I don't have an awesome meta I can do over and over again, I will feel very disappointed with PoF. That said, Firebrand feels great(unsure about Fire manhtra yet, Im power build so it was weak) but axe feels like a huge dps boost compared to other guard weapons. And the supporting aspect feels just so great to pull off. Trying out Deadeye now, getting HPs for it. Skimmer and the bunny feel alright, unfortunately if you want to travel fast around the map you're stuck with Raptor(when you upgrade it, it jumps real good), maybe Jackal will be better idk.
I did a 25 minute instance just for it to bug and halt progress at the end. Yeah, nope staying away from the story mode for a while. Not gonna pull the same shit I had to with the Mordremoth battle on HoT launch where I had to restart the instance 5 or 6 times.

the basic mechanic is your special skill turns on the holo mode, gives you some high power skills, which build the heat meter with use. You want to get your heat above 50%, but not let it reach 100 (or 150 if you have the extra meter trait) or you'll set yourself on fire and lose a big portion of your health and can't turn holo back on til it totally cools.
Above 50% heat, and your utilities and sword skills will gain a perk, from higher damage, granting boons, firing faster/more projectiles, etc. So, get your heat high, then let it cool off and use those skills til it drops below 50. BE CAREFUL THOUGH, if you enable holo mode, it takes a few seconds before you can disable it. Make sure there's enough room on the heat meter to generate heat and disable it again before it overloads on you, I've died a few times to that
for sword, pay attention to:
3: leap to foe, gain quickness. [I]double quickness duration with heat[/I]. Use it to increase your DPS in a fight, not just to close gaps
in holo mode pay attention to:
2: leap at foe from a distance, leaving a little launchpad where you lept from, [I]which grants swiftness to allies who touch it[/I]
3: swings a mace in a circle, putting charges that pulse and grant you 2 might per target (I think) each pulse. The charge explodes (explosion combo field) and deal out a bunch of condis if they reach 5 pulses. good start to engagements with multiple targets
5: always critical AOE that kicks people into the air. great damage/CC/interrupt when you're getting mobbed

Finished the story, massive spoilers.
[sp]I really enjoyed the part when Balth straight up kills you and you have to chill in the Domain of the Lost for a bit. The whole afterlife/dreamworld thing has been done a lot in GW2 but this time I think they really nailed the tone for it. All the confused, lost souls wandering around in that twisted landscape. The Commander's VA did a terrific job in this section too. Easily the highlight of the whole story for me.
The finale was really cool too. Kralk is fucking massive, Mordremoth ain't shit compared to him and Primordus.[/sp] :v:

Well I gambled all those ectos from salvaging in the casino, was up almost 300 at one point but then I lost them all and about 30g

Keep the mystic coins. You acquire them very slowly and need a lot of them for the high tier crafts like the specialization skins or legendaries

I still can't even start the first instance, just get infinite loading.
After 2 hours of 40s+ lagspikes EU servers have finally died.
Now I can hope Anet will notice something is not okay.

We lasted more than 24 hours before it crashed, but man did the servers shit themselves for long until they finally gave up just now.
Mirage is far better than I originally thought, I had enough points before starting the expansion to fill it out and still have 100 left over.
I gave it a try in some HoT zones until Anet sorted their stuff out and found it's incredibly mobile, with the right setup you can just walk through anything spewing damage.
Shame the servers are still all over the place

I like PoF missions, especially the one that [sp]played like Overlord[/sp]. That was a nice surprise.
It's a bug. An awesome bug, but a bug nonetheless.
Got round to playing the expansion on the weekend.
Solid stuff.
Riding a raptor was more rewarding than I thought it would be especially with that nutty ass canyon jump.
New mobs (especially the duos/trios of roaming hydras) are a real challenge.
And the maps are beautiful and vast

I recommend going there with a bobblehead laboratory. It's a life changing experience.
