I'm now gonna try and get enough gold for a mount before trying to explore the maps any further. Although, I'm tempted to do Crystal Oasis completion multiple times so I get the chest keys and pray to RNG for some gold drop.
How much of a pain in the ass is it to micro attunement changing with Weaver?
bought PoF and added it to the wrong account because i'm super dumb. made a ticket 4am this morning.. turns out people are currently waiting around 8 days for a response.. just want to play PoF:(
Yeah, I think it was confirmed.
Thanks, I didn't see it anywhere.
Be sure to have 1500 legendary insights or you'll never be allowed to play.
Probably, but I have a guild that basically allows anyone in as long as you're running the right build and competent at playing it.
Tried out mirage in Spvp. I'll have to fight some vanilla mesmers/chronomancers and play vanilla and chrono more to compare, but its surprisingly adept at dueling most classes (currently running a modified shatter/stun build). Like spellbreaker though, it definitely feels more designed for pvp in mind.
Man, I'm loving Firebrand and I'm not even using Viper gear. Still running Zerk and Flame Legion runes. I just melt things with quickness up.
The raptor mount has been so much fun to use, and it's nice how smoothly it responds to the keyboard and mouse.
I think the jackal is my favorite for general mobility
i almost never use the raptor anymore, the jackal has faster run speed, is better at dodging and can make most of the short jumps without issue
Chaining together jumps gets you pretty much as far but without the height gain and comes with the added benefit of being able to shoot in another direction mid air so you can make corners and the like. [editline]30th September 2017[/editline] Or hop backwards mid air in case you need to nope out of a jump :v:
I use the raptor on very flat areas where the double dash is still faster and over larger chasms. I use it about equally with my sandy doggo
How much of a pain in the ass is it to micro attunement changing with Weaver?
Not so bad I'd say. With condi build I more or less remember what skills are better to use for damage, it's a good idea to spend some time hitting the golem in Fractal lobby to memorise what attunement combo does what and how much damage you can squeeze out of it. If you are used to playing normal Ele switching elements frequently Weaver won't be too difficult to get used to. Love that your F1 is now a 5-skill-set which instantly recharges when you kill and enemy with the right trait, so you can spam even more flames.
I'm done with Anet twisted balancing. Holosmith is literally Reaper v2.0 - no viable dps, no identity and hyped back and forth with "unique theme". Somehow our gimped Scrapper feels much better at damage and sustain. Also godlike hammer as an ultimate tool to melt faces up close.

Both are weird at least for my taste. I still prefer Daredevil over Deadeye, but sitting back and firing off heavy shots and sitting up firing down on enemies is great especially if I'm playing with my group. Normally in our group I'm basically the heavy hitter and always the closest and have to be constantly active to dodge and move around. So it's nice getting to relax and not be a lunatic from time to time. With Holosmith I love the abilities but it's so damn precarious, although I've gotten in to a good rhythm between swapping in and out of the forge. Once I got the talent that heals you for losing heat, its actually a fair bit easier to stay alive.
I feel like I've heard the opposite, where Holosmith is actually apparently really good, while Deadeye just doesn't have a spot anywhere.
Deadeye in the same spot - too low damage for his lack of mobility with rifle. As for Holo, exceed skills should have an additional effect for 100+ heat. Also more damage for sword so it can compete with bomb AA.
This game looks kinda fun. Gonna get a free account and try it out. Is there anything I should know before I start?
I feel like I've heard the opposite, where Holosmith is actually apparently really good, while Deadeye just doesn't have a spot anywhere.
Until the benchmarks are out I can't say that Holosmith is any decent. Because from what I tested myself, Holosmith and Deadeye feel underwhelming in terms of damage. While Deadeye has the steal skill that gives quickness, increases damage done to target and recharges on kill, the rifle is ass. Unfortunately, because I was so looking forward to using my rifle, because I really like pistols and rifles and not enough classes can use them(even less use them for decent PvE DPS compared to other weapon combos).
This game looks kinda fun. Gonna get a free account and try it out. Is there anything I should know before I start?
1: take your time. This game isn't a rush to endgame content. They scale you to around the level of content nearby, so you can't totally walk past stuff if you outlevel it, and will still have fun doing stuff and killing things if you're way over the zone level. I managed to earn enough xp to accidentally hit lv 80 before getting past a lv 45-55 zone once 2: The hearts on your map are the equivalent of quests in other games, just show up in the general area and you'll see a description of what the person needs doing at the top right. If you see an orange circle or other indicator on the map, drop what you're doing and go do that. It's a dynamic event, they give lots of experience and rewards compared to just completing the stuff that's always on the map. 4: some classes feel confusing or underpowered until at least lv20, some til 40+. If you go to the PVP zone, you have a lot of stuff unlocked and can test it out a bit better. It takes a long time to really get the feel for how traits and weapons really work together but you can always dig around this site for builds and explanations people use in different situations. 5: achievements are fun and lead you to interesting places. Jumping puzzles are fun to hunt down and complete. 6: as a free account, you have 3 bag slots instead of 5 to begin with (but can craft/buy bigger bags to make up for it), you can't access the trading post to buy and sell things from other players, and you can't speak in mapchat, nor send direct messages to other players unless they're a mutual friend (the restrictions suck but they prevent spammers from bombarding the game for free) for quick reference, here's how I'd rank the classes in beginner friendliness- easy warrior; can't go wrong, access to most weapon types and plays in a handful of fun ways guardian; magic warrior. pretty easy to get into it thief; lots of damage, weapon selections can make you a ninja or a pirate ranger; lots of weapons, pets do half the work and keep enemies off you necro; high health, can spawn a bunch of minions, deals damage. medium engineer; few weapons, feels awful to start with because you can't swap between weapons in a fight. At like lv 15 or 20 you can enable weapon kits in your skills, they're super fun and replace your main weapons on command. unlock flamethrower immediately and the world opens up elementalist; few weapons, but each weapon set gives you 20 skills instead of 5. You manually swap between fire/water/air(electric)/and earth. People say it's like playing a piano but it's what I started off with not hard but ehhhhh [del]revenant[/del]; you need the HoT expansion for him anyways. Odd playstyle that mirrors how elementalist changes weapons, but with skills. some love, some hate. mesmer; this is the one that feels like a wet napkin til like lv 45, and it requires you to know a lot about conditions and boons to appreciate what you're doing. Also feels more effective against players than NPCs your ultimate goal is to conquer the fashion wars. Find cool clothes you want for your character, figure out how to unlock them, and then realize there's something better and work toward that. Titles are also high fashion.
Thanks for the tips! I've started playing and overall it seems like an alright game. My only real complaint is player speed. I chose a big bulky beef boy and his slow speed is really starting to get on my nerves. Especially going across an arctic tundra.

Which class did you choose?

I know the potion can boost your speed, but it's also never guaranteed to be the speed boost since there are three random possibilities.
This game looks kinda fun. Gonna get a free account and try it out. Is there anything I should know before I start?
If you get PoF or the HoT expansion - PLEASE for the love of god don't use the instant level 80 booster straight away. Your path to level 80 is a fancy tutorial on how the game's (and class) mechanics work etc and skipping right to 80 - you miss out on quite a hefty chunk. Still, it's a pretty nice MMO to dive into. I've been playing it off and on since 2013 and never really had a problem with it. There's plenty of friendly players out there who will help you if you get stuck on something (such as friendly Mesmers who will create portals to difficult areas etc for players to use). Gimped from the start with a "class crisis" (do we do weapon swaps or cooldowns or both?!), weird nerfs for PvP but ended up being pushed for PvE as well (Staff + Sword 2 nerfs - although they were undone the week before PoF launched) and relegated to 1 build at the time (DPS) which required Glint to actually function properly. In saying that though - I'm definitely having fun with Condi Rev now. It's so refreshing to be able to play around with different builds (Kalla and Jalis/Mallyx without having to swap weapons for break bars and damage (the Condi damage just bypasses the break bar completely)) instead of being forced into 1 because that's the only one which worked. Although I've found I seldom use the shortbow on my Renegade (I was looking forward to a ranged-condi weapon as well). I just use Axe + Mace 95% of the time as the Shortbow is pretty crap in comparison. In terms of content - anyone know if the Renegade would be viable in a T4 Fractal or raid setting? I play T3 raids occasionally (need to put my Agony resistance back on my armour after stat changing it into Vipers though) but I've never really played in Raids (especially due to the "Rev = shit DPS = kick" attitude of many commanders). Just want to get an idea whether I should invest my time in learning Raids on my (condi) Renegade or not.
When I was looking through the minis collection I found a mini I never seen before, a Mini Eye of Janthir. When I found out it sells in the trading post for only 20 gold, I had to get, it's a floating Quadrilateral with a weird eye in it for god sake. :pyramid:

I chose a big bulky beef boy and his slow speed is really starting to get on my nerves. Especially going across an arctic tundra.
I should also have rated the races, haha. Sounds like you went with Norn, they're bottom tier for feeling so incredibly slow due to your size/camera position vs the environment. Plus the norn starting zone was massive for the sake of feeling massive, but it just makes you feel smaller by comparison, then slower because you're going so slow compared to everything around you. it's a poison, but once you pass lv 10 you're out of that zone and onto better things, trudge through it All races move the same speeds and jump the same heights, but the change in your own perspective makes a world of difference. -Asura of course feel like you're sprinting full blast, and their starting zone is a dense swampy jungle area, decently spaced and paced so they always were my favorites. -human have some sluggishly large lands too, big open farmlands/wetlands and samey enemies, 99% bandits or centaurs. sylvari are identical to humans in how you perceive the motion, but their zone is also a dense jungle and paced better overall. Very bright and cartoony feeling zone charr can feel sluggish but have some fun animation for non-combat running that makes it look a bit faster. Their starting zone is probably the slowest next to norn, but with a dry grasslands with ancient busted up castle architecture and steampunk tech aesthetic going on, so it's fun. lessons I've learned are not to level classes that are supposed to feel fast on max size norn and charr. My charr thief was the most painful thing, and only felt 'normal' after I got the signet that added 25% speed. for engie, you'll be looking for a few things: 'inventions' trait line has 'mecha legs', which adds that 25% speedboost. The best thing though is in the 'tools' traitline, there's 'streamlined kits'. When you turn on a weapon kit (medkit/flamethrower/grenades/bombkit/elixir gun/mortar), it grants you 20 seconds of 33% swiftness. It has a 20 second cooldown, so the instant that swiftness ends, you can turn the kit off and on again to get it back. Infinite full swiftness! Between this, the rocket boots gadget, rifle skill #5, and a buttload of toolbelt skills and other junk at your disposal, engineer is pretty much the most consistently mobile class. The only other thing that really matches up is thief has a bunch of teleports and it can get super far in short bursts
I just wanna say thank you to everyone in the thread who has given me advice! Later on tonight when I get to play again I am definitely looking into those abilities. This game seems complex to me, but I can definitely see the fun in it.
if you need help ingame drop your username.1234 or a character name here, and add 'dai' to friends ingame, I can add you to the guild and you'll have access to a few of us, it's rare to have lowbies to play with and level our own low characters so people tend to jump at the chance. FP Guild chat is generally quiet til someone speaks up, as it's basically a glorified friends list
decided to try out spellbreaker some more, its actually pretty fun and feels great in solo pve, can even take down some champs on my own without too much trouble which is something i've only been able to consistently do with my rev in the past shame it feels like it completely falls apart as soon as other people join in though
Yeah, you kinda need to be dancing with your enemy to use the counter + dagger skills effectively, I'm enjoying it tho since I mostly play solo. On the other hand, Firebrand is raising to the top of my favorites in this expansion. You can pretty much melt anything with that easy acess to constant quickness, it can mantain 11 stacks of burning with ease.
