Is the guild still active?
people tend to perk up if you post in gchat
So I just got to more or less the exact same spot as the last time I did Night of Fires on another character ([sp]killing the big dude in the middle of the camp[/sp]) around launch, and I lost connection to the server again. I fucking hate you ANet. edit: apparently PoF disconnects are very common, especially during story missions which generally have a specific disconnect spot (like the one I just described). ANet is naturally silent about it.

[editline]16th October 2017[/editline] getting trick or treat bags will be crazy combined with the movement speed and initiation attack from mounts
Is PoF more enjoyable than HoT? I'm thinkin bout buyin this shit and getting into GW2 again
if i could replay HoT i would start with path of fire, then play heart of thorns with the mounts walking and gliding around the HoT jungle, right as soon as you start, is a pain in the ass. this is probably very intentional since they want you to get the masteries such as better gliding, jumping mushrooms and speed shrooms, but they dont make you go nearly as fast as mounts can as soon as i get the griffon mount collection completed, im going straight back into the jungle so i can do this shit: https://giant.gfycat.com/ThreadbareLividDwarfrabbit.webm [editline]17th October 2017[/editline] of course i understand playing it in that order wouldn't make story sense but for the sake of convenience i would go with that order, atleast to unlock the base raptor mount the story of pof takes you through a somewhat straightforward path, only really relying on the first 3 mounts, once the story completes you can go and earn the rest of the mounts and the maps become alot more open and you get rewarded very often for going out of your way, from chests and piles of sand/bones you interact with that give unidentified gear and other loot, using the sand portals you see around the map with the jackals usually takes you to some very fantastical scenic routes with big chests or mastery points usually hidden behind them another bonus is that it speeds up map and character completion by ALOT, leveling up the mounts so that they are twice as effective really pays off, since you can take advantage of that extra distance from the springer or the raptor to make getting vistas and other more annoying map completion targets a breeze. i cant even begin to imagine how crazy map completion is with the griffon. skimmer is super fun to ride, bloodtide coast can be completed incredibly quickly if you have binds set up to swap between all your mounts, going seamlessly from water to land and back is great also breaking the older maps is fun [t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/261265744291954688/361334778806665217/Gw2-64_2017-09-23_22-14-29.jpg[/t]
Is PoF more enjoyable than HoT? I'm thinkin bout buyin this shit and getting into GW2 again
The story telling is MUCH better than HoT. Replayability however... not so much. HoT has much better metas, with PoF only really having Bounties but once you complete the list - there's no incentive to come back. The rewards don't change, and nothing is introduced (mechanic or participation reward) if you start a bounty train unlike HoT maps where your participation awards you more loot (like the night events in VB). Mounts are a god send though. I recently started a new character (Thief Sylvari (first Sylvari I've ever made in fact!)) and Mounts are making core Tyria map completion an utter breeze. I just hop on the Griffon (or ride the Jackal), fly around the map border unlocking all the WPs and most of the POIs/Vistas and move onto another map in ~5 - 10 minutes per map.
I'd play them in order BECAUSE the mounts break shit. Sure HoT was designed to take you a while to earn all the masteries and really get your bearings trudging through the jungle, but mounts trivialize it to shit and you don't get much out of it without going through what everyone else did in learning how to glide and manage endurance, where you can climb for better vantage points or access to the canopy, how to traverse complicated maps, and so on I could understand if you've played through HoT before that you're tired of that schlog but that's part of its experience, so much of it would be confusingly trivial if you could just run through on a raptor, let alone just jumping up/across huge gaps meant for leyline gliding, something that most players didn't have for til way after they'd completed story and started looking for other things to do in the zones my biggest disappointment in PoF is the lack of overarching metas. There's no reason to be in any place at any time, no big events that pull people together. Treasure hunt SOUNDED cool, but players get different locations to search and you're just porting around the map at random, nothing coordinated or even party-oriented. Mount races emptied out fast. It feels extremely casually oriented and the few harder things are ignored because they take so much effort for very little reward. Masteries took me all of a few days to complete, the griffon took another day (and a little gold), and then... there's some supply run adventures I guess? I'm bewildered by the number of threads on the reddit exclaiming how much they enjoy the new casino meta event, that it's nice not to have to fight big bosses and just relax and get COOL REWARDS for your time (wow, kites are OK but jesus dude). Bosses that require teamwork and treading lightly would have been so welcome, but we seemingly got a few dozen DPS-Check bounties that reward ye olde 2 blues and a green, with occasional hard-to-see mechanics that look like they'd be fun, but not when the mechanic is denoted by a buff icon that keeps shuffling around as the 30 other players apply condis and debuffs all over the place. Also good luck dealing with the legendary choya with a large group because the game lags out and you're pinballed for 10 seconds by a sea of those small knockback circles. I like that the challenge factor was raised a bit in the open world by adding more veterans, mobility traps, and hazards, but it feels like that's the ONLY challenge at times, and it's nullified a bit by maxing out jackal's masteries, making every mount action a dodge. For how much people complained about HoT, and how much I enjoyed PoF's story and generally interesting new stuff, it really feels like the cost of the expansion reflects equally against HoT's. I'm enjoying it, but I'm disappointed that for how much they say they were focusing on content instead of new mechanics as they did with HoT, it feels like beyond the story, they focused largely on adding a handful of mechanics and just gave us broad maps to satisfy the twerps who complained infinitely about the HoT's maps being 'small' (while referring to their footprint on the world map, which kinda disregards how stacked up they all are), without actually filling them with the exciting kinds of content that actually gave HoT's maps replayability/longevity. People say it's making us feel like exploring again but I don't feel the same wanderlust even vanilla gave me in these new maps.
I feel like part of why they didn't add map wide metas in PoF maps is then they'd just replace HoT maps outright. As it is now the maps from the two expansions give you two different experiences, and honestly that's a really good thing in a game where the expansions additional max level content rather than new content with a new level cap. It doesn't make PoF feel like a straight upgrade to HoT, unlike wow where each new expansion is and you'll never return to the previous one outside of leveling an alt.
adding, because it's also my biggest gripe because it's fun but it's trashed by the way it's employed. Talara, dear god I hope you still browse the thread because I'm not throwing this on the gw forums or reddit I mentioned mount races emptied out fast, and there's a few contributing factors. They're too spaced out to plan on doing it, you have to be in the right place at the right time to just notice the announcement and it's clear nobody's paying attention to timers to rush to the event. There's no real way to let parties/guilds decide when they want to go do some races, It'd be so much better if you could trigger normal mount races like a guild activity or even just an adventure like the griffon races. Races overall need a different starting mechanic, both for the open world mount race and for timed adventures. Open world races have that starting box, and despite the box vanishing and an announcement saying Go!, you can't leave the box until the first race gate things turn green, else it disqualifies you and you have to turn around and talk to the race organizer to start the race. This is problematic because there's times where the event lags a second or two before enabling the gate. I'd propose a fence (invisible or decorative, whatever floats your boat) at the front of the starting box in the final seconds, and only drop that fence AFTER the first race gate has properly triggered. This would let players press against the front of the box and be ready to move all at the same time instead of second-guessing if they can move yet [t]http://fruitandflower.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Kentucky-Derby-at-the-gates.jpg[/t] The most fun I'm having is fighting with karl on griffon race times, and I'm already wary of the fact there's only so many times you can squeeze out a few milliseconds on these things, part of which may be muddied by the fact the timer starts with clicking a start button on a window (thank god I found out 'enter' triggers it, but still I have to get a running start and hope to hit enter before I leave the trigger bounds). Griffon races are pretty good as-is (save for the one in elon where you have to climb super high to touch a checkpoint and it almost never works), but I'd love for a retooling of adventures so you can trigger the event at the same time as party members, and see your most recent finish time (instead of just your daily+alltime bests) so you know if a certain tweak to your path was better or worse and learn to squeeze out more time. HoT and central tyria absolutely need griffon race points, even open world race events, on so many maps. It'd promote more OG exploration and add a ton of longevity to mounted content by giving people longer term achievement goals and plenty of great content touring past areas your average player wouldn't know existed even after doing world completion PS: retool metrica province so you can dive the whole distance off goemm's lab with the griffon. Add a griffon race to the end of that puzzle, make it challenging, go back through his lab and divebomb through the inquest lab on the ground
There's new armor with this years Mad King. Once again though, its not automatically in the wardrobe preview. Start grinding out that candy corn. [editline]17th October 2017[/editline] Nevermind its under lunatic, not mad king in the wardrobe.
spooky mounts are 1,600 gems for all 5 mounts and have 4 dye slots, the eye and general glow are dye able i broke one of my own tenants to get rid of excess gems on my account and got 6 keys, very lucky that i was able to get the fallen balthazar outfit/helmet set and the spooky mount minis guaranteed bags this time are much better, they have junk items in them that sell for 1-5g a piece that remind me alot of ecto gambling, in addition to the chance of the rare infusions and weapons and junk http://dulfy.net/2017/10/17/gw2-gemstore-update-spooky-mount-skins-and-fallen-balthazar/
The Raptor and Skimmer skins are cool. The Jackal and Griffon ones I'm uncertain on, and the Springer one is terrible.
Cherish this moment, it starts with some simple and mostly inoffensive Skeleton Paint without sound effects and huge particles. Coming up next month on the Gem Store, though: - Super Adventure Rainbow Raptor - Dynamics Exosuit Springer - Molten Alliance Firestorm Skimmer - Toxic Hybrid Jackal (with grunts every 3 seconds) - Raven Spirit Griffon

Not happy we have to buy all 4 skins for this first round and hope that's optional later on. The new skeleskins are cool and grant us fullbody color control (compared to only having an accent color on static textures by default), but moving forward these better be actual model changes instead of fun texture patterns. 200% sure we'll see branded griffon sooner or later, maybe that new cheetah pet as a jackal, and dear lord give us anything that isn't that goofy rabbit because there's approximately zero dyes that look good on its mohawk and backstripes I mostly feel the skeleton skins are worth their value because while some are probably calling them lazy paintjobs, but they're basically literal paintjobs [t]https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/da/0f/60/da0f608b4f4cfdc607839d93c3552ca8.jpg[/t] speaking of the new cheetah pet [t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/114815730981142529/369930527257395200/9c129ac2-d814-4212-8bd8-baf3911c16fa.jpg[/t] [editline]17th October 2017[/editline] oh shit, they finally followed up on the mad memories back book!
It saddens me how people are using the Spooky mount skins to continue being eyesores instead of going for something more stylish.
[t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/106905348778004480/370003877535416320/gw506.jpg[/t] Mount skins were a mistake.
mount skins saved GW2 [t]https://i.imgur.com/ptnYAct.png[/t] they do look pretty snazzy when you tone them down. Not a fan of the eye glow though, it's super desaturated even with the most vibrant dyes, save for some of the odd flat tones like rosewood [t]https://i.imgur.com/JWCDKtw.png[/t] [editline]e[/editline] [t]https://i.imgur.com/JQCLRkP.png[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/SsohRgV.png[/t]

Haven't played so much, and I think all these currencies are making me confused
Haven't played so much, and I think all these currencies are making me confused
Most new maps have their own vendors with their own currencies For Heart of Thorns maps:
verdant brink = airship gears Auric basin = aurilium Tangled depths = leyline crystals Dragon's stand = crystaline ore & all other HoT currencies (also a craft mat)
For the living story s3 maps, unbound magic is shared across all of them to buy all sorts of goodies from ascended mats to trinkets you can put any stats on. You'll want to make sure you know what you want from these vendors before burning the consumable resources into UB. These vendors are most useful for buying magic packets for rng chances ascended craft mats (elonian leather, deldrimor steel, etc) or trinkets, as well as other odds and ends like infinite tonics and minis. Its also worth mentioning that bitterfrost is the best of he zones for farming UB, as there are tons of berry nodes that can be farmed once a day per character. Also keep in mind that you cant equip the same ascended trinket twice on the same character, so youll have to farm at least two maps if you acquire ascended trinkets this way.
