Why are updated to this game so painfully slow compared to WoW and FF14

Everyone is busy working on the next expansion thats why

Living world updates are every 2 - 3 months. They're pushing that a bit recently and as Nanamil said, they're working on the next expac too.

I'll take a regular 2-3 month schedule over the mess that the update schedule was before and right after HoT.

we had a delay with the last episode too, but it sounds like they're putting some extra elbow grease that should lay some ground for future episodes to chug along regularly again. I'll take it

Just got back into the game 2 days ago after the Bless fiasco and not sure whether I should get PoF or the HoT + PoF pack..

IMO you'd be missing out on so much fantastic end-game stuff if you skipped out on HoT. Hell, the HoT maps I've found are still more populated than PoF ones because of the meta events. I'd personally recommend getting both, if you can afford them.

Yeah grab them both. Weirdly enough I feel like the content (not story duh) of PoF segues much better into HoT's content. Specifically with difficulty, PoF will help you prepare for HoT better than vanilla. You will miss out on the original experience if you hop into the jungle with mounts, though.

yeah, the biggest part of the HoT experience was going into the jungle unprepared and falling victim to pocket raptors, and slowly (SLOWLY at launch) gaining new abilities (especially gliding masteries) and learning to generally overcome the super imposing mobs and locations. Some mounts can negate the fear factor of wading through dangerous areas, but there's a lot of things gated within HoT masteries that we kinda take for granted and completely forget about now, that'd still wreck up most people when they attempt to zoop around, even on a griffon
