Lets hope they will make Engie shield not garbage BEFORE PoF release. Wish I could use hammer with Holosmith.
Wish I could use hammer with Holosmith.
in the least, it looks like it's one of the new photon weapons, they use the same leap>blast attack twice in the class trailer here's all the skills/tooltips we know at the moment, my best guess is when in photon mode, each skill produces a certain weapon to attack with. Not quite like having scrapper's electrified rocket hammer but I'm not sure we'll miss it
I really wanted to love engineer, but practically everything cool about it wasn't viable when last I played. I never would have thought that a profession with so many cool gadgets would end up with all of them being nigh unusable. I still have fond memories of cleaning up an entire SPvP session using my self made turret build less than a month after launch, exploring the map with a custom flamethrower build, and being a mobile artillery platform in WvW using the mortar kit. About a year after release, everything felt optimized and minmaxed to hell and back. Turrets and kits were nerfed awhile ago, and scrapper seemed uninteresting compared to some of the other elite specs. Holosmith didn't have my jaw drop, but it looked polished enough to work well. I really miss the times when you could use whatever cool build you wanted and get away with it since the game was still quite new, but hopefully going forward each profession is given a good variety of useful abilities that don't end up chained together in a wild rotation. [editline]2nd August 2017[/editline] I am planning to return to the game shortly before the new expansion hits, but I have no idea what to play. I have my level 80 engineer from the earliest days, but I certainly want to give the other professions a go. I will be upfront in saying that I never really experienced the Heart of Thorns content, and that I have never made a mesmer character.
Lets hope they will make Engie shield not garbage BEFORE PoF release. Wish I could use hammer with Holosmith.
Most likely will as we get sword. Pointless being a power spec if we use a condi offhand.
Passive agressive roo?
No, I would really buy one, instantly the moment it's introduced.
From how holosmith/heat is going to work I'm expecting some crafty A.E.D. builds during the beta and once the expansion comes out.

Chronomancer feels a lot more fun and useful across the board and is considered a straight upgrade to the class You'll also maybe want to check out revenant. Some people swear by it like none other, but others (like myself) just can't get into it at all. I've gotten two characters to 80 and 40 respectively and deleted both because it's just nothing I enjoy about the game. Much like mesmer though, it seems to shine in its HoT elite spec as if that's the actual class and they made the base class lackluster just so it looked like they weren't treating it special over the other base classes

I just played what I thought was coolest and went about exploring every nook and cranny in the world. I dislike the minmaxing mindset in GW2 since it is not only required to do any group content whatsoever, it forces you to skip over awesome looking and sounding picks and abilities while shoehorning you into a rotation that seems opposite of how something seems intended to be played. And if you refuse to use the "meta," you're severely limited in what content you can do. When a meta rated guide tells me to take the flamethrower kit to only end up using it to access incendiary ammo, and builds actually using the kit end up towards the bottom of the barrel in performance, I end up having my enthusiasm vanish, and spend thinking about what other profession I would like to pick instead. This goes for turret engineer, minion focused necromancer, dual pistol thief, etc. The coolest looking playstyle unfortunately seems the most lackluster in performance more often than not. I completely understand that this attitude is the norm in MMO's, but in GW2, which sold itself by divorcing from the traditional power creep and predefined roles, it seems really unintuitive and lessens the enjoyment I get from playing. After some thought, I will probably opt to try deadeye thief, as a stealth sniper playstyle is something that I have been looking out for. Nonetheless, sincere thanks for offering your input.
To be honest you can do literally whatever you want outside of raid groups if you think it's fun. Most junk you don't even feel the difference in dps unless your gear set is all defensive/healing stats Knowing something's potential dps means nothing if you're not having fun nor care to keep up with wild rotation dances and might upkeep. Just do what works for you yo

Raids is all boss-encounter stuff though so a lot of the action-combat stuff doesn't really come into play, so the meta is naturally stricter (not to mention you make it more difficult for 9 other people).
Just watched more content from the various streams. As a Guardian main, I'm not entirely sold on the Firebrand yet. The tuning seems a bit weird. But man, the Weaver looks insane. The skill rotations are going to be nuts!
SNIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.... that old [but new] thread smell. It's been a while since I've been in GW2 and still only have the base game. I am updating overnight and thinking of starting fresh, but is it worth it to grab the 1st expansion? (I already have an 80 elementalist named Fenralli for those who remember me from years past.) Also, whet else is new that I should be aware of?
never thought we'd see guardian tomes return tbh
As a part of pure condi spec. Even axe is filled with burn+bleed. Would be good if Firebrand works for power builds too.

But you don't need any of that for this new exapansion, which is WAYYY CHEAPER, I would get it because people still play those HOT maps.
People are going to be play HoT maps for a long time due to the legendaries and collections. Not to mention, you need to play in Heart of Maguuma maps to unlock gliding, which is a mastery I literally couldn't live without at this point.
Hot is more than worth the price, can nab it for an extra 20 bucks if you're buying the new xpac
If you preorder Path of Fire now, do you automatic get the character slot and booster?
If you preorder Path of Fire now, do you automatic get the character slot and booster?
Yeah, but if you get the ultimate, you've gotta wait 72 hours for gems.
Stopped playing before HoT came out, just bought HoT and the new expansion. I had a level 80 thief and a warrior in late 50s but am switching to mesmer. Should I just boost to 80 so I can finish HoT and the living stories that I missed before I quit? Or has the living stories changed the world? (Last time i played Lions Arch was currently destroyed)

If you've only played thief and warrior, you'll probably find mesmer to be weird and wholly different. A lot of classes play like that, sometimes feeling like they're from an entirely different game than the others. Wait until something really clicks, try it out a bit using the 80 booster's trial system, and only then, secure your choice
use level 80 boost on slow-levelling professions like guardian and mesmer
I still have my 80 boost from HoT... I always want to actually level my alts.
I still have my 80 boost from HoT... I always want to actually level my alts.
there comes a time you have experienced lv 1-79 just a few too many times [t]https://my.mixtape.moe/jxadfi.png[/t] not including the good handful of 40-80's I've deleted
I have 17 level 80 characters and I only leveled 1 with tomes. I HAVE A DISEASE. I AM SICK.
So it seems they are gonna add gliders to WvW, and went through the effort of creating a WvW ability to put points into without having to get the PvE mastery, but people without HoT still won't be able to use them so that's one more straight upgrade that HoT players get in competitive gamemodes. Being honest I'm not too excited that Firebrand is condi, and quickly skimming through other elite specs it looked like most of them are mainly for condi. I gotta hope most of these will still be great for powerbuilds.
I haven't seen the damage numbers but maybe it does have enough damage output to be at least somewhat competitive. I know I would sometimes use warrior sword in my warrior kill shot build because it had a lunge, and finisher, and its basic attacks still hit pretty hard (and fast) despite it being designed primarily with conditions. We also don't know what new stat sets will come out with PoF. They might be expanding hybrid stat builds.
I bought the ultimate edition of PoF 84 hours ago and still haven't gotten my 4,000 gems. Am I suppose to use the serial code they sent to my email somewhere? It's not valid in the gemstore.

But to be fair it hasn't been 72 hours for me yet but it's getting close. If it takes longer than a week I'd recommend emailing support like I will be doing.
Hi guys! I'm going to start playing this again. How do I train my Exalted mastery? I have it activated but I have no idea how to train it.
