i really feel sorry for this game
it came out the same time as one of the most hyped games of the year, and reviewers are being super harsh on it.
it's honestly one of the best looking games I've ever played, the gameplay is incredibly solid (on par with just cause 2 when it comes to being fluid, no surprise with that one) and there's no end of stuff to do
it's also kinda therapeutic - its sometimes challenging, but never difficult. The game lets you play entirely at your own pace. Combat feels powerful, while being ridiculously simple, looting stuff is fun (although some camps make it frustratingly difficult to find that last insignia or scrap), just driving round the map is incredibly fun.
thats all it is, really. good, solid fun. and people seem to be dismissing it.
endgame chat:
[sp]That was kind of a let down - it felt forced and too quick, like they ran out of time and had to end it then.[/sp]
So GMG goofed and gave me a free Pre-Purchase copy of Mad Max. I bought a release copy on Monday for the 40% off and activated it then today got an email saying "Thank you for pre-purchasing Mad Max (NA) from Green Man Gaming." with a different code. :v:

It's also getting a ton of word-of-mouth, and if nothing else the PC version's getting a good deal of nice press.
(Similarly, it's one of like a baker's dozen games rated "Overwhelmingly Positive" on Steam.)

Make sure it's not the DLC code or anything.

Doesn't help that WB pretty much sent it out to die with minimal marketing and sharing the release date with MGS5.

How'd you get the screaming skull emblem?
god i wish this game could run on my comp
only makes me want to upgrade even more
Emphasis on the fact that the game is ridiculously well optimized and the UI is one of the best I've seen in a long time. Minimalist but informative.

Also, tried to do an actual movie-like poster using the in-game camera tool:

I don't really know. It just appeared and I started using it because it was free.
I installed The Ripper DLC on Steam but how do I actually use it in-game?

Check your garage, you should just have it.

How do I start the mission As the Wrench Turns?
I'm pretty damn far into the game but I haven't run into it. I'm sick of waiting forever for the car to be fixed

The Mad Max video game is, in it's very design, anti-fun:

It's an actually an interesting point. The gas system doesn't encourage you to drive around even though I think it's an interesting system. There does seem to be some conflict between the survival and the action aspects of the game. What does other people think?
So uh, regarding the Twelve:
[sp]I guess I failed to save it in a stronghold during the mission you get it - is there another location for it?[/sp]

sounds to me like they just didn't want the game to be a survival simulator
I'm honestly amazed i was able to get this game for 18 bucks.
It looks awesome so far, by what i have been reading on here. I can't wait to play it!

This is, hands down, the best hood ornament in the game:

I have started writing an essay as to why this author is wrong though I don't fully know why.
But to be totally honest, this writer has had the opposite experience I have. Being scarce on ammo has been half the fun. Knowing how easy it is to take down a convoy with just a shotgun, yeah, i'm glad ammo is sparse.

Literally all you have to do is aim at a tire on the main convoy vehicle and shoot. After that, just stand near the convoy truck to avoid the others running you over until they get out, then beat them all to death.

I literally have yet to run out of gas, and I'm nearing the end of the game and have done all but the minefields in the rest of the game world. The one time I did was when showing off the game to a friend and I demonstrated the sideburners, then wanted to show that there is in fact a gas system. So I just drove around while holding down the fire button and intentionally burned up all my fuel.
I ran out of fuel in the part where you have no body on the car, just managed to roll up to the place with the fuel can.
[editline]4th September 2015[/editline]
while I didn't read all of that review, I agree with the whole refund thing, I definitely would've wanted a refund if I paid the full 50 euro.

I think that part is scripted so that you do run out of fuel and are forced to refuel.
however I don't agree with the whole resource thing, that isn't the problem at all.

possibly, the car didn't have much fuel though.

The format made me think this was Jim Sterling's website for a minute and then I realized that even Jim in character is nowhere near this pretentious
i made a [URL="http://imgur.com/a/C9TIs"]little album[/URL] of screens i've taken over the last 18 hours of gameplay that i'm proud of, if anyone wants to have a peek

I'm 8 hours into the game. It's slow to start, but I guarantee you'll never run out of fuel and water. Ammo is sparse but only because it instagibs everything.
[editline]4th September 2015[/editline]
I think the game is worth the full price just for the atmosphere alone.
Fuel and water aren't much of an issue: if you keep driving in an average fashion fuel will deplete very slowly and on foot fights are easy enough (especially if you have an history with the Arkham series) so you'll need water only after that particular battle where either you met a new enemy you had some troubles at first or you screwed up a bit for reasons
As far as resource management goes, the only annoying feature of Mad Max is the abysmal quantity of scraps gained from either picking up gears laying around or destroyed enemy cars parts: if you don't take a hold of enough camps, you'll have scraps scarcity issues soon
