I pretty much stopped playing this game once I got through all the bases and all the convoys. the game's at it's best when you're chasing down a convoy and you can only do that so many times before it's just gone. That sucks majorly and makes the game more boring. Random convoys or reseting them would be great, in fact it's what it'll take for me to go back to the game even though I haven't finished the story. Which wasn't that good either.
I'm currently working on a map for a Mad Max themed gamemode in Garrys mod (we have a thread about it in the mapping section) and I need a favor from one of you. Could you possibly take a bunch of screenshots of cliffs, tracks, and general areas with all the settings except for texture quality, anti aliasing, anisotropic filtering, geometry detail, and shadow settings turned to the lowest?
So basically this is a run of the mill open world game where you just sort of bob around and do things. It's a nice time waster but it's clearly not the type of game designed to invest a lot of time into it all at once. I play it every so often when I want to fuck around and drive about but I'm not expecting the same kind of involvement I'd get out of an elder scrolls or fallout game.

Fun stuff should never fully disappear from the map, even if you complete it. That or they should just add an option to reset things like Far Cry does with outposts.
I hate being someone who asks this, but I got some extremely good news today and want to celebrate by buying a new game. I've had my eye on Mad Max for a while, but not done much research into it, is it worth buying? Was looking at CJsKeys because it's cheaper.
As someone who was in your position 2 days ago, and then started the game yesterday:
Played for a bit. Great artwork and game design, fights could be a bit more sophisticated. Bases and looting gets more and more repetitive though and after I fully upgrade Jeep I sure as hell won't do that for the other strongholds too. I'm already skipping the Emblems because fuck searching for that.
Played for a bit. Spending like 10min around a camp, just for that, then suddenly where you just passed by a cave it was just above it. *Sigh*
The game feels like someone realized what a great artwork department they had and then they stretched what they had as thin as possible and it really doesn't shock me considering the relatively short timespan they had for development. [editline]24th September 2015[/editline] Also the survival elements are a joke. Petrol? lol everywhere Water? lol everywhere

I also don't get why you blow up petrol stations tbh., why not take them over?
I also don't get why you blow up petrol stations tbh., why not take them over?
Presumably because that way you get to monopolize the petrol game and be the only Uber in the hood
Presumably because that way you get to monopolize the petrol game and be the only Uber in the hood
But then just take over the pumps?
I assume it's because it's crude oil which you can't do anything with anyway unless you have a way to ship it to gastown. Since they want to decrease Scrotus' influence and limit his reasons to stick around, blowing them up makes more sense than keeping them, otherwise they'd get attacked and raided every two minutes.
ok yeah makes sense
Which amounts to jack shit anyway [sp]since you end up killing Scrotus.[/sp]

so I was ideally wanting to rush through the story to unlock the v8 then do some free roam. [sp]then it ended up dragging on and eventually the level where you are meant to get it ends with you not getting it[/sp]. my question is when the fuck do you unlock it? i'm starting to feel like im literally going to get it when the credits roll and its pissing me off.

You get the V8 go to a place, go to another, then fight the last boss. you literally get the V8 right at the end, so do everything, do all the other lands do ABSOLUTELY everything first! Me and my friend were saying this game could of been stretched out longer and it would of been better! like when you get the first wrench upgrade you can get the second one instantly!

You get the V8 after that mission. Don't listen to OmegaRighteous, it's not the final boss. There's still a number of story missions after getting the V8.
I lost intrest just after reaching gastown, such a shame. Could have been a really good game with some more fleshed out content.

He stated after you get the V8 engine, there are 2 missions left - and that's true.
Finally playing this. Runs great, I can get it to go 4K, but some text doesn't appear anymore such as "Ammo full", what loot I just picked up such as scrap, or "Allied camps have added X scrap" etc. bit annoying
I know this thread is practically dead but holy fuck is this one time bomb race frustrating One of the cars you can use basically explodes as soon as it gets hit, great The other one fares better but it doesn't help that most of the lower level cars in this game accelerate like a snail and corner like an elephant. By the end of the race there's like 10 cars trying to end you, if you get stuck on anything or get PIT maneuvered they pile on and you've basically lost Other than that the physics are fucked (or realistic resulting in anti-fun) so if you lose even a tiny amount of traction on the ground you go flying into the nearest rock, again, game over The only solution is to be aggressive as fuck, repeatedly ramming every car that turns up to eliminate it as a threat. Side grinding gets their health down quite fast if you're lucky, but ramming and grinding only results in either slowing down or going off the track in an attempt to kill a car and slowing down until you can get back on to the track Even then you can get rammed from behind and lose health without much control (unless you want to side ram to avoid and lose speed) and if you get turned around it takes a fucking eon to turn the right away again, by which time you've probably been dogpiled How do I solve this retarded amalgam of shit game mechanics? [editline]2nd October 2015[/editline] Ah, I have a shotgun don't I? I should use it probably [editline]2nd October 2015[/editline] Alright made it, I had to use all my ammo though and got lucky at the end when they piled each other up. Wonder if your ammo gets refilled on a retry? Luckily didn't have to find out
Do the Death Races with the Archangels, much easier. Plus there's literally no reason to use the other vehicles unless you're an absolute completionist, there's no achievement for it.
The ammo doesn't get refilled between tries. I found out the hard way. But yeah on some of those races you pretty much need to use the shotgun.
Do the Death Races with the Archangels, much easier. Plus there's literally no reason to use the other vehicles unless you're an absolute completionist, there's no achievement for it.
Ah, didn't look at the starting menu hard enough then It's a damn shame that I'm losing interest in this game, I'm not sure what more it could do to keep me interested since it seems solid I've just got the thunderstick launcher and fully cleared about four areas in the Jeet region, about to take on the jaw I think I feel like the upgrade balance is off, they get showered upon you at the start of the game then they start to trickle much more slowly, I might have gotten lucky at the start with like 6 boxes from 2 storms and a few scrapulances and all of a sudden I had nothing immediate to work towards (scrap cost wise) apart from clearing zones and only unlocked something new every few hours The world is interesting visually but you get so little scrap from the scavenge locations you might as well just clear camps and wait for scrap from the allied camps. The only 'loot' is scrap or rarely project parts, I don't feel there's enough variation there I feel like the game could have been much more fun if there was less of a structure to everything, less "here's a checklist guide of things to do" and "here's the exact boundary and threat level for this region". If you could just explore like in Fallout and find interesting stuff or a group of people to do a quest for (such as a camp being seiged by raiders like in MM2) then it would feel more Mad Max to me, building a legend through various unrelated acts of 'heroism'. As it is the gameplay is more like "open perfectly plotted map, select destination, drive there using the GPS". I suppose you could just drive around wherever and never open the map, but you wouldn't progress with the upgrades system since the game isn't designed around that. The challenge based leveling is a nice idea but it contributes even more to the sense of order and rigidity when really the apocalypse should be chaotic and barren The on foot fighting isn't as forgiving as in the Arkham games which I think is a good thing, but it's less 'more difficult' and more 'more finicky'. Arkham seems much more responsive. Sometimes hits don't register, sometimes pressing counter is futile even if you're only using short jabs. Either you jab once, counter someone and jab them once, counter someone else and jab etc. or jab a few times then roll around when someone turns up to attack you (which would be fine if the roll didn't go so far. I almost find myself rolling away then running back to attack, it should change the roll distance depending on if you are dodging cars or fighting people). More stuff like throwing sand, throwing people into other people to distract them, certain moves with hyper armour (you can get hit yet still pull off the move) would be good and would make the fights feel more scrappy. Not sure that a score multiplier system was a good idea, again feels too contrived. Going into a fight, doing anything to survive and taking a few hits should feel part of the struggle to survive, rather than having my arbitrary counter reset because I didn't do perfectly, downing everyone without getting hit Fury mode feels like a mid to end game upgrade rather than something you should get early on, as it activates in every fight even with like 2 enemies and breaks the flow. It's also weird how Max suddenly becomes ultra sluggish in his punches, throwing them super wide and slow, sometimes I've been hit by weapon users despite attacking them first thanks to the ultra slow swings. The camera also doesn't zoom out far enough and unblockables aren't telegraphed enough audio wise The driving is alright, I wish the physics were more forgiving though since I've never pulled off a rolling J-turn when rammed into a 180 - not sure if its because my armour is too heavy or my engine not powerful enough but I always have to slooooowly come to a stop then turn and accelerate again rather than keep moving. A lot of the driving feels way too sluggish and stop-start The harpoon seems too OP as you can just pluck vehicles out of the fight (or even just kill people inside cars instantly even with the base version), and the thunderpoon is an instakill - I feel like the weapons should have messed with the physics of other cars more, e.g. the harpoon popping a tire or just yanking them into rocks or each other, and the thunderpoon exploding under a car and flipping it like in the movie, potentially letting them limp back into battle. Ramming works alright but grinding is really erratic, sometimes you catch an enemy really well and completely annihilate them, other times you just stick to them with their health barely ticking down and both of you decelerating to a stop But I dunno, in general it feels like convoy battles are over all too quickly for my liking, and the offensive mechanics don't seem to gel perfectly with the driving mechanics So yeah that's my ramblings, the game is just a little too generic and formulaic but I want a sequel anyway
it costs something like 14,000 to fully upgrade the V8 later on the upgrades are quite pricey considering you spend them all the time between upgrading max and getting his abilities
Wow this game gets old real quick [editline]9th October 2015[/editline] Literally the same shit since the very first minute of the game
It's definitely the kind of game you play in small bursts. Wish it was more involving, but for what it does, it's decent.
