see i don't get it, all the previous arkham games (including origins) were eventually optimized to work fine on pc. when origins first came out it was terrible and i let it sit for a few months. when i had finally started to play it, the game ran like butter. why they decided to fuck us in the ass on their last game is beyond me. however, as posted above, mad max is developed by avalanche, and if you've played just cause or jc2 then you know how well their shit runs on pc, so i'm not worried about that, i'm just worried about lack of content. it seems that they've created this big empty wasteland and kinda just copied and pasted stuff from arkham and mordor with vehicle and character customization built in.
GMG has a VIP deal with the game being $35.
Has info about pre-load been said anywhere?
Pre load probably won't even start for another week - week and a half.
Whole mess of new gameplay: Those sandstorms look fucking awesome.
Whole mess of new gameplay: Those sandstorms look fucking awesome.
I am WAY TOO HYPED for this game.
agreed. i'm way more hyped for this than metal gear i hope pc doesn't have the LOD pop-ins like the ps4 version does. the game looks great visually but they're so obvious at the beginning of the video
I'm super sold on this game, the driving and car stuff will be enough to keep me going for a long time. but, I still have no idea if I should get it on PS4 or PC, because I don't know where it'll run better. I should be able to run it, but I'm not sure if the PS4 would be running it better or not.
Hopefully WB won't fuck up the PC port like AK
The thing about this game that impresses me the most is how open the environments are. Lots of open world games resort to having wild and unrealistic terrain elevation, usually due to draw distance limitations or to box you in to a predefined stage plan, but from what I've seen so far the areas in this game are massive and flat. You just don't see that anywhere, but it's absolutely perfect for Mad Max and I'm glad they did it. It looks incredible.
Melee combat is similar to the Arkham melee system.
I was excited until I read that to be honest.
I was excited until I read that to be honest.
Why? Arkham's system is great. And judging from the latest 1 hour gameplay video it actually looks cool. It's not as easy as in the Arkham games for sure.
Arkham's combat system makes the game kind of easy.
Yeah but Arkhams system also has you able to dodge over enemies and do all sorts of crazy crap Max just can't do
The video I watched looked very loosely arkham Looked more like assassins creed without instant kills
I've never played an Arkham game, and I'd rather be introduced to it through Mad Max than boring old Batman :v:
Arkham's combat system makes the game kind of easy.
the thing with arkham is that there's just a few enemy types and most of them are extremely easy to counter mad max may have a similar amount of enemy types (armored guys, guys that use melee weapons, the obvious knife boys) but they pack way more of a punch and they don't take turns striking you. they all attack at once, so you have to really be on your toes we'll see how it works out but it looks way more unforgiving than batmans where you just jump over everyone and use a million plus one gadgets to defeat your foes. you're never in any immediate danger in batman because everyone has slow reaction times and they take turns hitting you
Hopefully WB won't fuck up the PC port like AK
Read the OP. Avalanche studios themselves are putting the game onto PC. And they did a good job on Just Cause 2.
Even though I doubt it. I kinda hope we can have more than one car. I wanna hoard cars.

They can also carry weapons with them like clubs, knives, and axes. -Yellow guys who dodge all your attacks, and need to be countered in order to start damaging them. They also do an unblockable charge attack if you're at range. They as well can also carry weapons. -Blue guys who are grapplers, and will grab max from behind. -Lancers who throw thundersticks at you. -Snipers who can shoot you from a distance, though are similar to the basic enemies in hand to hand combat. -Armored guys who hold a shield that defends them from punches and do a lot of unblockable attacks. -Top Dogs, though they may all act differently. Rim Jobbie was slow and heavy, but all of his attacks were unblockable and had a very wide damage arc. I've also got a sneaking suspicion that there will be enemies with crossbows, since people can be seen wielding crossbows inside the strongholds. Though that's just a theory.
Even though I doubt it. I kinda hope we can have more than one car. I wanna hoard cars.
They've mentioned several times that it's possible to collect all of the enemy vehicles, though they are impossible to customize. Enemy vehicles may have unique attributes, like the Drop Kicker, that can lay clusters of bombs behind it for enemy vehicles to run into.

Haven't been able to watch all the stuff to see if that actually is the approach though.
Hopefully WB won't fuck up the PC port like AK
publisher =/= developer these are the guys behind just cause 2, they know how to do make games work for pc.

Though there may be different tricks to fighting top dogs. When fighting Rim Jobbie it's possible to bait him into flamethrowers to deal extra damage, and other Top Dogs may have similar vulnerabilities.
A nemisis system would make this game just that much more awesome.
A nemisis system would make this game just that much more awesome.
I like the idea, but how would you justify the whole coming-back-after-death thing? Mad Max isn't immortal. ...or is he? :tinfoil:
publisher =/= developer these are the guys behind just cause 2, they know how to do make games work for pc.
the downside to jc2 is that it crashes constantly on newer rigs and square enix think that the game isn't worth supporting because even five years later anywhere between 500 to 1000 pc players play it and obviously that's not enough. makes you wonder if mad max will be unplayable a few years down the road nothing gets more old than having to constantly validate jc2's game files every time it crashes because if you don't you'll never get past the boot up screen
What kinda future rig are you running?
it seems to be a pretty common set of issues since that's like every page on the jc2 steam forums
I like the idea, but how would you justify the whole coming-back-after-death thing? Mad Max isn't immortal. ...or is he? :tinfoil:
Well, actually. Kinda. I mean, consider everything he goes through. He survives a lot of shit. But a big underlying thing about Max Rockatansky is that, after the first one, he may not have been real at all. He's spoken of as a legend and a ghost, existing where ever he is needed most then disappearing again when his job is done. So there is sorta this thing underlying the latter three films that Max wasn't really there, but people attributed it to him as a part of his overall legend. That he's sorta their motivation and hero, and through his legends he exists to these people and helps them out.
Every injury he sustains is persistent through the films, despite nothing carrying over narratively. Would be cool if each respawn scarring you in some way related to type death. There's have to be hundreds of permutations though.
