Every injury he sustains is persistent through the films, despite nothing carrying over narratively. Would be cool if each respawn scarring you in some way related to type death. There's have to be hundreds of permutations though.
On a related note, I noticed that there actually does seem to be some kind of injury mechanic. In one of the gameplay videos he falls a long distance and hurts himself on the landing, and afterward he was limping from the injury. It seems like it only happens if you take a big hit, and it doesn't seem to last forever, though it'd be interesting if it turned out to be a little more in-depth.
Man they are just laying it on with the big gameplay streams

I really like the look of the combat. The weighty animations remind me of Indiana Jones and The Emperors Tomb.
They mention a lot of the main quest being about reducing threats, big-picture wise.
I hope this doesn't reduce enemy encounters as drastically as it did in red faction: guerilla.
they said in one of the videos that it doesn't
it's like mordor i guess where there's enemies abound even when you conquer the whole map
The more I see of this game the more I think it's going to be like Shadow of Mordor
A game that merely picked people interest and turned out to be a fucking good game
I hope they don't make the same mistake of SoM though, where they make most of the game just a tutorial. Teach us the basics and then let us loose; don't keep pulling us back in with missions that are just tutorials for side stuff.
I am hoping this game is great in the way Just Cause 2 is great.

Mad Max Kids Friendly Edition DLC
Mad Max is the first game I've been looking forward to in a while.
I really like the setting and the high level of customization.
speaking of DLC, turns out the preorder copies on G2play give you the pre-order car content. i just got my key this morning. sweet

I can't get it from G2A, paypal won't process the payment or something
Read the OP. Avalanche studios themselves are putting the game onto PC. And they did a good job on Just Cause 2.
Which crashes randomly on several configurations and they still haven't fixed it.
I pre-ordered from funstockdigital and they appeared to give me two keys on my order form, so I activated the first then sent the second to my friend to see if it worked. It did, now I'm scared I fucked up and invalidated my purchase or some shit. Has that happened to anyone else before?
You can get it on GMG for ~$30 USD with the code MADMAX-SAVE50-MADMAX
You can get it on GMG for ~$30 USD with the code MADMAX-SAVE50-MADMAX
Wait shit, I just bought it using the code MADMAX-SAVE40-MADMAX, giving me only 40% off. Does that one work?
Got it for 30$ on GMG. Seems like it releases on the first of september though. Oh well.
that's pretty nice of them to offer the game at half price even though it's a new release.
they must think their sales will be demolished by metal gear (which it will but i look forward to both games).
Am I the only person who doesn't give a shit about Metal Gear? I just don't understand the hype behind the Metal Gear games to be honest.

I'm interested in MGSV for sure, but it's really obnoxious how everyone seems to think it's going to be the game of the decade
It's going to be a decent third person stealth game with an interesting story. It's not going to be a mind blowing once in a lifetime experience

I get the hype but I never got into it. I find Kojima's work, while entertaining, too cheesy and melodramatic to take seriously.

I agree in some ways. I've never really got into the Metal Gear series but I definitely see the appeal. The gameplay alone in MGS5 looks good enough for me to just pick it up without too much care for the story, but I'm going to wait on that. Going Mad Max all the way instead.
saying you don't like metal gear on this forum is like saying you don't like garry's mod. i'm sure there's some people already tying up some nooses
that being said metal gear is extremely overrated. i'm sure the new game will be fun just like everyone else but people are blindly overhyping it. i think it's primarily since the game has been in production since the beginning of the decade or whatever but it's definitely one of those games that will be long forgotten in a couple of weeks just like mad max will be, so the hype isn't even worth it at all

Nah, I know what you mean. I played MGS on the psx and thought it was pretty good, but only for the gameplay as the plot and characters were batshit insane. And once games like Hitman, Thief, Splinter Cell etc started coming out the stealth action genre left Metal Gear in the dust, IMO, so the only thing the franchise seemed to have going for it was the story, which left me cold every time. I even suffered through MGS2, forcing myself to finish it despite not enjoying the final 80% of the game and haven't touched one seriously since.
I did play ground zeroes briefly, and actually finished revengeance on a console, and thought they were pretty solid mechanically but I just can't take the melodrama seriously.
yeah, my beef with metal gear is that it's like ripped right from an anime or something. it's really hard to get in to because it has all of those really generic japanese tropes and you can't take it seriously at all
it's unfortunate because the gameplay has always been really solid for the most part. mgs2 i think was the worst because the forced camera angles making it impossible to aim sometimes
back on track though i'm really excited to see what other car chassis you can get. they've only really shown one or two but they look mighty similar in design. i swore I saw an earlier video and he toggled from the body we've all seen to a rat rod looking one. i hope we can make a literal car tank. also i LOVE how he uses his shotgun as a general all-around tool; he busts locks with it and uses it to break all kinds of other stuff. that's wicked. that's probably the first game i've ever seen that doesn't treat guns like they're these fragile pieces of plastic
My local game store got the game early so I've been playing it, and one of the first things you do is choose one of five or six bodies, I forget the exact number, and a hot rod looking one was there I think.

In the recent gamespot demo they had scrolled through 3 or 4 bodies, including a rat rod.

I don't think it really matters if it was MGS or not. It's looking to be a great sandbox game in a great engine. I'm excited to play a good game like that which I know won't be a shoddy PC port.
The only thing I'm iffy on for Mad Max is the majority of the combat being hand to hand. I think I'm just too used to Shadow of Mordor where I'm sword fighting or the Arkham games where I'm mixing a lot of other things in.
