For anybody who has a Logitech Dual Action controller or whatever uses a similar layout to that, I made a profile for this to use with the Logitech Game Profiler shit. Works well. http://filesmelt.com/dl/BeamNG.xml
For now you can edit the diffuseColor[2] value in the main vehicle material in the vehicle's materials.cs (in the \vehicles\<vehiclename> folder) to recolor it
What's the fourth value do? R G B, then... saturation/opacity/whatever it's called?
What's the fourth value do? R G B, then... saturation/opacity/whatever it's called?
Alpha?
Oh man the handling for this game is ass, I got it to work with someone else's config which they got from that, but it's so hard to drive at the moment since thew steering goes all the way instead of adjusting to your actual movement of the wheel.
If you're using a wheel, hit shift+b, that should enable direct steering and make things much more controllable (or so I've heard, haven't tried a wheel yet).
Chrome hatchback [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/630787846739311067/4919D767116862820EB9A5C4FA28B2866AB3AF7B/[/t] I find the 4WD vehicles much easier to control.
The Truck can do a fucking loop.
Alpha?
Not really sure if you could call it alpha since it goes above 1 and actually increases the color as you do. Unfortunately I can't think of the word for what I'm thinking of...
Better DS3 is a good one. http://betterds3.ciebiera.net/
You still have to install motionjoy.
Not really sure if you could call it alpha since it goes above 1 and actually increases the color as you do. Unfortunately I can't think of the word for what I'm thinking of...
It is alpha. Imagine that the value "that goes above 1" is the transparency, and the colour becoming more vivid is because you're "removing" a layer above it.
If I were to make a mod that added the engines from all the other cars to the hatchback (and maybe all the other cars as well), would anyone be interested? I also added a stage 2 and 3 turbo to the default hatch engine, considering adding turbos for all the other engines as well.
You still have to install motionjoy.
There is an even better alternative: DS3 XInput Wrapper. It doesn't require a manual restart every time you reboot, except sometimes the service doesn't get started by Windows (7, 64bit here), so you then have to manually start the service. Still better that MotionInJoy's ad-tastic little self.
Imagine : BeamNG + Red Faction destruction engine :h:
You guys are all fools. This is obviously the best videogame video game vehicle physics.
Shift+C, then you can move the camera with WASD and pan with the mouse. You can't lock the camera, so your driving controls have to be a controller or something other than WASD to keep it still.
Or you can set the camera to use the arrow keys just like how you set the vehicle to use the WASD keys.
It is alpha. Imagine that the value "that goes above 1" is the transparency, and the colour becoming more vivid is because you're "removing" a layer above it.
Intensity! That's what I'm thinking. Intensity. Would explain being able to go above 1 and become more vivid.
I was ecstatic when I figured out that BeamNG Drive uses an 80x80 PNG for the skid texture, and I attempted a fire replacement: [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/JFaL48q.jpg[/IMG_thumb] [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/bpiOhsR.jpg[/IMG_thumb] It didn't work. It just looks like I'm leaving behind trails of smeared hot sauce. Bonus picture: Skid marks. [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/9unSDdj.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Now this post is in 3 threads!
How do i make shapes in the editor solid? I want to make a sweet ramp straight into a wall
Figured out how to add new engines! It's actually a lot simpler than I thought it was; simply make a copy of <carname>_engine.jbeam, paste it (with a different name), open it up and change "<carname>_engine_whatever" to something different, it should automatically show up in the parts list. EDIT: Oh my god, the hatchback with the supercars engine is just hilarious :v:
I can't seem to get it working, what exactly did you change to get the super engine working in the hatch?
How do i make shapes in the editor solid? I want to make a sweet ramp straight into a wall
Are you trying to drive over the ramp in the editor mode? I find that if you place something down in the editor it doesn't become solid until you go back in to the game for it to update the position of the collison mesh.
Does anyone know how to change an engine from rear wheel drive to front or all wheel drive?

Should I be pressing something else, or selecting something to "Apply Changes" before going back ingame?
I'm pressing F11 to go back into game. Try also changing the camera back to player camera if you've changed it. I think if your camera is too far away from an object it screws the physics up.
Gonna try this on a 3.4GHZ quad-core and 4gbs of RAM. Wish me luck.
I tried a gif. It did not end up looping as well as I wanted it to.
Demo had me sold so here's to 15 bucks for the alpha. I love trying to jump other cars in weird places, they had me sold with demo derby updates even if it's only against AI at some point. Nailed it.
Gonna try this on a 3.4GHZ quad-core and 4gbs of RAM. Wish me luck.
It's actually pretty well optimized, and it should run well if you don't mind your computer sounding like a Hoover. (Saying this coming from a low-end dual core AMD and 5gb of ram.)
Finished adding all the engines to the hatchback, as well as stage 1/2/3 turbochargers to every one. Unfortunately, you can't use the turbos on the other cars at the moment, though I'm considering adding them; we'll see. I'm definitely enjoying how flexible the modding is for this, I see a fantastic future ahead of this game. Download the mod here! [editline]5th August 2013[/editline]
Does anyone know how to change an engine from rear wheel drive to front or all wheel drive?
Yes; go into the <car>_engine.jbeam and Ctrl + F differential. There should be a code block that looks like this:
"slotType" : "hatch_differential_F", "differentials": [ ["wheelName1", "wheelName2", "type", "state", "closedTorque", "engineTorqueCoef"], ["FL","FR", "open", "open", 0, 1] ], "engine":{ "differential":4.37, "axleFriction":10 },
Change FL and FR to RL and RR, and you get RWD. I also included this in my mod; in the car customization panel, where it says "Front Differential" you can choose a rear differential for RWD. Still trying to figure out 4WD.
You guys are all fools. This is obviously the best videogame video game vehicle physics.
I know right, shift 2 kicks this game's ass note how the mirror isn't actually mirrored, quality programming
Change FL and FR to RL and RR, and you get RWD. Still trying to figure out 4WD.
Doesn't disabling the differential all together not do 4WD? It seems to do all 4 wheels, but it screws up the gearing. (It never gets out of first, and if it does there's no acceleration.)
So they're using some engine called Torque 3D, right? What happened to using CryEngine 3?
