Here it is! DriveEditor allows for quick vehicle configuration. In future updates, it will also allow you to add your own nodes. If you get a message about unable to parse a number of files, blame BeamNG (usually). I found that a number of their configs are actually just plain broken (usually missing commas between elements) I know that jbeam allows for missing commas in place of a newline, but sometimes they just forgot a comma on the same line. It was a massive headache! Luckily, most of their files are absolutely fine, so if you get more than a few files it can't parse, do let me know and I'll look into it. Features: Auto saves as you type Saves your BeamNG install as a setting, rather than hard-coded string. So when they release updates, and the install directory changes, you can just change the setting rather than wait for me to update. Full jbeam parsing, to allow total flexibility of editing Smart lookahead (so common config array structures (like 2-level arrays) will be presented in a multi-column format for easy editing, and the tree view for arrays will display the first element) Planned features: Type detection (so numbers will be a number box, booleans will be a check box, etc.) Custom node adding (So you can create vehicles from within the editor, as per Woovie's request) Download link (see bottom of page): http://bitnode.co.uk/driveeditor-vehicle-config-editor-for-beamng-drive/#download REMEMBER: It will auto-save as you type, there is no save button! If you'd like one added, let me know and I'll update it Edit: I forgot to mention, just press "CTRL+R" while in game to reload the vehicle configs after editing!
So one of the devs behind Drive saw this and sent me guidelines to properly convert .jbeam to .json! Wicked!
I feel like the only balanced car is the hatchback. That RWD sedan is as wishy-washy as the ocean and spins out or understeers on every corner, and the sports car prefers donuts to driving.
You forgot the 4WD pickup. It's as tame as a dying cat.
I had showed everyone in #beamng on irc.3phasegaming.net so hopefully it got around enough. tdev hangs out in there.
Awesome, thank you! A few people reported some bugs and improvements to me, were there any improvements anyone here could think of?
I know man,i'm sorry
Awesome, thank you! Since you show all the sub-lists in the main window, it isn't necessary to have them in the tree too.
Have any new vehicles beside the Cadillac actually been released yet?
Have any new vehicles beside the Cadillac actually been released yet?
A crawler called the moonbuggy or something. Other than that, I don't think so, at least not anyone made from scratch.
I feel like the only balanced car is the hatchback. That RWD sedan is as wishy-washy as the ocean and spins out or understeers on every corner, and the sports car prefers donuts to driving.
Werid. I hate the hatchback, it understeers like crazy and the steering and suspension breaks apart if you brake too quick or turn too hard. it just falls apart everywhere. the sedan is one my of my favorites though the front suspension could use a bit beefing up (the stupid steering bar on all the cars really needs to be fixed)
Does anyone else find that braking or accelerating while driving up ramps causes the car to 'snap'? It's really annoying.
Does anyone know at what point your car will no longer go? Sometimes I've hit a wall head on at 80mph and it's been fine, other times I've caught the back on something and it's screwed.
Soon, I hope. I detest the current sounds so i made a video to show how awesome they should be.

Even in the demo, crashing the truck just has absolutely no feeling of weight or substance to it half the time. It's all visual. Adding those heavy thuds on impact sure fixed that though.

That's even more impressive than I thought.
That's even more impressive than I thought.
People diss the physics for being slippery but if you look into how the game works it's all pretty fucking impressive.

On the topic of sounds, the guy who made ArmA 2's JSRS sound mod had a go at BeamNG: http://www.beamng.com/threads/2823-General-Sound-Ideas-And-Suggestions
Just released an update: Update v0.3: Improved (but not perfected) jbeam parsing. At least now all default files should be able to be parsed Added tab indexes to text boxes, so you can easily move between edit boxes by pressing tab Fixed bug where text would be truncated on long labels (oops) Added type detection, so values will be loaded, presented, and saved as their original types (e.g booleans will be checkboxes, integers will be saved without quotes, etc.) Allowed for window resizing Still having issues with the regex provided by BeamNG, but I'll give it another go at some point. All default files should be able to be loaded now! Get it while it's hot ;) http://bitnode.co.uk/driveeditor-vehicle-config-editor-for-beamng-drive/#download
A car (or engine) exporter from automation would be pretty amazing. I'm going to go find out what an automation save file looks like.
I second this motion. 1)Automation to design motor and vehicle. 2)Switch over to BeamNG to crash test the car until you fit the safety regulations. 3)????? 4)Profit.

Update v0.4: Fixed bug where fullsize.jbeam would be incorrectly parsed Added “Create component from…” function (as requested), so that parts can be duplicated and modified while keeping the original. The new part can be selected in the part editor (ctrl+W) I highly recommend you update to this version! http://bitnode.co.uk/driveeditor-vehicle-config-editor-for-beamng-drive/#download P.S Woovie, I'm still working on your request, I haven't forgotten!
Trumple, if you want a reliable mirror you can ask me. It will never go down etc. [editline]19th August 2013[/editline] And thank you so much for creating it, it will help me loads.
