Also, does dry rock work for anyone? It keeps complaining about a file that is already there.
the pigeon is fucking useless holy shit.
sam's 4x4 version is infinitely more fun.

Same problem. The team's on it.
Don't know about anyone else, but my game is crashing one hell of alot more than it did with the previous patch

Even more Hollandais Nuda.
The map is MX Backyard.
BeamNG has a Steam Store page since yesterday: http://store.steampowered.com/app/284160
is there ffb for wheels in this yet?
is there ffb for wheels in this yet?
Check the dev blog. Seems like they're working on that at the moment.

feels like some trackmania tier stuff except with crashes and realism
Alpha testers will get their steam keys in the mail now, just so you know

Got mine. They've either given the game a massive performance boost or I'm remembering things wrong.
Driving the Sunburst around Hirochi is damn good fun. Was gonna do the Semi but even in it's half finished state it lags my rig quite hard. Also a shame that all the floors on the new USA map aren't solid either. Tells me I'm missing the terrain file. Still it is a beta build. Damn good fun regardless.
The new experimental build is awesome. The test grid has a couple of trackmania tier tracks now.

Agreed. Im still enjoying racing the sunburst around Hirochi. :v:
So, from what i've seen Next Car Game is shit compared to this? Is this worth it to buy right now?
[editline]12th September 2014[/editline]
nevermind. Player the demo and the experience was shitty overall.

Physics-wise, NCG has nothing on BeamNG.
However, performance-wise, NCG blows this out of the water. It has to, considering it's an arcade racer and BeamNG is more of a simulator. NCG needs its fudged deformation algorithms because it needs to do them for up to 24 cars at once, as well as tons of destructible objects in the levels. BeamNG doesn't have that issue, so it can afford to be a lot more accurate.
so what's the reason for the semi slowing people's computers to a crawl? Peniscolada, you built it, can you answer?

I'd assume he just hasn't entirely optimized the meshes. Unless I'm mistaken. It is an unfinished variant of the semi. So I have a feeling it will be smoother towards a final version of it.

Optimization issues.
"Experimental build", remember?
I understand that, it just seems weird to me.

I don't know, i find it amazing that the game runs as well as it does.
Remember, the underlying physics engine runs at 2000fps! So when a large unoptimized vehicle enters the circle, there might be problems.

Nothing to do with meshes or anything graphical. It's a strange physics bug with the wheels, and it only affects some people. Some people get 100 fps with the truck, wheels or not, and some people get 20 fps, but 100 fps if they remove the wheels. It's very strange, but we're looking into it. It's a code issue, not something I can fix. Even more odd is that people with the same processors are getting different results (some get their fps tanked by the wheels, while others don't).
It's probably something silly and we'll find a fix (like a bug in the collision code that was making the radiator explode every time it was hit by the engine block). In any case, it seems to be binary - either you lose 80 fps from the wheels, or you don't lose any fps at all - which leads me to believe the fix is probably not horribly complex, and it's not due to the truck being especially complex either.

The tech demo is really not representative of the current state of the game. We've made so many improvements to the physics, handling, vehicles, etc. it's not even funny. We haven't updated the tech demo at all since it was released over a year ago (August 3rd, 2013).
Ah thanks for clearing that up Peniscolada.
Enjoying the experimental builds a lot. Thanks for your work on BeamNG. :v:

oh this reminds me, i saw that you rated me dumb when i said the pigeon was useless. I didn't mean that your work was bad i just meant that the car was just so bad to drive, that i enjoyed it. I should have clarified.
I haven't played this in a long time. Has it been optimized for lower end PCs yet? It was really laggy on my laptop.
So how has this progressed? I haven't followed it, but I did download the demo when it came out. I'm looking into it a bit more and I regret not buying it when it first came out (had no money, then forgot about it).
I hear it got ported to a new engine, might be my imagination but it looks a tad glitchier than the old one, particularly with loose parts that swing around wildly (I don't remember that happening in the old demo, but I might be wrong).
