So how has this progressed? I haven't followed it, but I did download the demo when it came out. I'm looking into it a bit more and I regret not buying it when it first came out (had no money, then forgot about it).
I hear it got ported to a new engine, might be my imagination but it looks a tad glitchier than the old one, particularly with loose parts that swing around wildly (I don't remember that happening in the old demo, but I might be wrong).
The new engine was well before release. The version the public can use has only ever been on Torque3D.

recorded it in 0.25x real-time then speeded it up and added ReelSmart motionblur
Could someone point me in the direction of this map please? O are there any others with awesome twisty up and down tracks like that?

Here you go.
so you can fit 3 pigeons on a flatbed

some merging may occur when smacking it into a wall at 50mph though
Nothing to do with meshes or anything graphical. It's a strange physics bug with the wheels, and it only affects some people. Some people get 100 fps with the truck, wheels or not, and some people get 20 fps, but 100 fps if they remove the wheels. It's very strange, but we're looking into it. It's a code issue, not something I can fix. Even more odd is that people with the same processors are getting different results (some get their fps tanked by the wheels, while others don't).
It's probably something silly and we'll find a fix (like a bug in the collision code that was making the radiator explode every time it was hit by the engine block). In any case, it seems to be binary - either you lose 80 fps from the wheels, or you don't lose any fps at all - which leads me to believe the fix is probably not horribly complex, and it's not due to the truck being especially complex either.

Just wanted to say, as a huge fan of racing games I love what you're doing to revolutionize the genre.
The tech demo is really not representative of the current state of the game. We've made so many improvements to the physics, handling, vehicles, etc. it's not even funny. We haven't updated the tech demo at all since it was released over a year ago (August 3rd, 2013).
Thanks!
Can't seem to play this anymore, after rebuilding my computer. 290x drivers don't play well with it at all, as it causes a display driver crash five to ten minutes in.

Have you tried completely reinstalling the game? Clearing the games cache and all?
There's a cache folder: Documents/BeamNG.Drive/Cache
Try deleting the entire cache folder.
This might not help, but I feel it's worth a shot. If it doesn't work, make a thread about it in their forums and see if you have any crashlogs you can post.
I just bought this game, and I am happy to say that it runs incredibly well. It starts up almost instantly, and lag is barely there at all. I've been manically crashing things into each other for the past while.
Also: The mods!!!! My favorite is the leap of death map
That's a really cool utility, and a reason for me to seriously consider getting Automation. Any idea on whether the bodywork you can design is transferable as well?

It's probably set for somewhere in the future ... maybe
My first attempt at racing through the jungle map didn't go too well. :v:

this is actually surprisingly good to drift in these days, except for the FPS dips I keep getting in some places.
the 200BX drift setup with stage 2 turbocharger and you can do all the skids in the world, especially fun on the jungle map. the bumps make it interesting.
The framerate has been getting lower as of late in general.
My GTX 680 desktop can no longer run the game with SSAO enabled, and really this games graphics are not good enough for that to be fair.
I used to run it in a solid 60fps with no dips, but now it's more like 30ish.
Hopefully some fixing will be done on that eventually.
my fps regularly dips into the 20s and i'm on a 970 and i7-920.
Mine's usually above 50 (except when using the semitruck) and I'm on a i5 4960 and a 760. I don't know what you guys are doing.
Forgot I had this game then I realized why I stopped playing it.

Well guess that goes to show that the game has very random performance, because I'm not doing anything differently from back in 2014 when the game ran a lot better.
Yeah, I have a lot better performance now than back then. As did Kurt J Mac when he did a video of it last week.
Peculiar. I'll have to reinstall it or something, see if that helps.
Have they said anything about making it easier to manage mods?
Have they said anything about making it easier to manage mods?
There's a built in mod-manager now :v:
So there is. Real pain in the ass trying to manage a lot of mods without one. Now to actually get a single place (besides the forums as there are a shit load of old ones that don't work) to put mods and have them updated.
I personally stopped playing because not a hope of multiplayer and the same fucking engine sound for every vehicle. Like, how fucking hard is it to play a different ogg. Kills the immersion. :/
I stopped playing it because it got rather tiring waiting for mod authors to update their mods. Seems like every single update breaks mods.

I feel like you're missing the point of a physics sandbox.
