If you wanted to be spoonfed heists without caring about how the order works canon wise why not just play crime spree
Storyline sidejobs system would've been just as functional with no start level button
The point of story line is to introduce the mess of content Payday 2 is to new players. Hence the low difficulty, and objectives like "equip a perk deck". When you finish it the game tells you "the game has a lot more content to offer, get heisting". Story line is glorified tutorial.
Still, I hope it gets expanded with more heists. I like Payday's story and having a more consistent canon would be appreciated.

that'd be cool if the game actually pointed the new players to the story line feature
but the only sign of it existing in game is the small button in the middle of the 15 or so shortcuts

The Slasher Movie Challenge Card limits all players on the mission to using only melee weapons, but they gain increased melee damage and constant health regeneration
The Season Of Resurrection Challenge Card changes the usual death mechanics - instead of going into bleedout, players who run out of health will become trapped in the world of spirits until a living teammate shoots a pumpkin, returning all downed players to life!
The Pumpkin Pie Challenge Card gives all enemies pumpkin heads and greatly increases the damage they take from headshots, but players can only attack while in mid-air - jump for victory
Wonder how terrible the rng is on the card drops.

Managed to get all 3 from the same drop by farmin' Last Orders (From the sounds of the patch announcement, it seems like card + cosmetic chances are unchanged, just the chance for those drops to be the new Halloween stuff).
Season of Resurrection sounds better than it is, you basically just go straight to "custody" when you die, and pumpkins are placed around the map in spots for surviving raiders to shoot at.
Beating Slasher Movie gets you a knife with, uh, [i]animations[/i]:

Anything's better than the double barrel's, I suppose.
There's also a Halloween upper and lower cosmetic, but they're separate for each nationality, so in reality its 4 jackets and 4 trousers.
LGL, plz, make cosmetics unrestricted from nationality.
[sp]Side note, if you haven't figured it out yet, Last Orders is the new Rats. 2-3 gold per run from the loose stuff in the trucks, and easy dogtag locations + short length mean you can easily get a gold lootchest thingy every time - play on VH and you also get a sizeable bit of XP for little risk. Slap on a challenge card, and boom, grind away.[/sp]

his room is not really a room but instead that side area on the top floor where one of the spawns are for the bags in safehouse raid
