Ayylien Rulers? Yeah I once went on assaulting a facility with a 'powerful alien' guarding it. It was a fucking Berserker Queen, and once she spotted us a Muton and Viper also joined the fun. I have no shame to admit that I reloaded the save before I went on this mission, because that would have been a total wipe. Berserker Queen is just mad with smashing my guys left and right into stun after every my move or attack. I thought it would have been a bit more easier, but nope, it's a suicide mission. And what's worse is that my doom clock is approaching(one pip away) and the only thing I can do is to assault another facility. All three are guarded by ayylien rulers. Great. I fucked up big time on Strategic layer.

holy fucking shit please no, Ayyliens just built that facility and my doom clock [B]7[/B] days instead of 14 as I was hoping it would be. The ONLY facility I can attack is the one guarded by Berserker Queen. ;_; I just got Plasma weapons I can't fucking lose it, not like this. I screwed up a lot on Strategic layer, I admit, but still. How the fuck do you even kill that fucking Queen

Do your best to make it run around. The queen will (in my experience always go for the one that attacked her last. As long as you keep your soldiers spaced, you should be able to beat her.
The Doom Clock hasn't been a problem at all for me for this playthrough because I can seemingly endlessly delay it with covert ops.
Set the queen on fire, saw that work in someone's playthrough. They set her on fire and gassed her, and she couldn't make melee attacks so she just sat there and took it.

Don't have any fire weapons, except for rocket launcher, but I do have Frost Bomb and Acid Bomb. Better pray it helps..

HOLY FUCKING SHIT I CANNOT FUCKING BELIEVE IT! Queen created a portal to run away, I moved my Reaper who was still in Shadow closer to her and used the Banish ability(that spams shots at the target until it dies or you run out of ammo). She has a fucking Superior Repeater on her rifle, and she [B]EXECUTED[/B] Queen which had more than 2/3rd of her HP still!!! I can't fucking believe it, RNG blessed me with a victory
Nobody ever fucking bleeds out in 2/WotC. Always straight-dead.
edit: and the Assassin is dumb as hell. Teleports in, nearly one hits & disables someone, teleports out. Only strategy is to stumble around and home you hit her.

Yeah that's why I had a mod for Always Bleed Out in 2, but it's not updated for WotC afaik.

Complete opposite for me. I just lost my campaign I was able to pull back from the brink because the avatar clock hit 6 days and I had no intel + all the facilities were 2+ regions away.

For vanilla XCOM 2 I would agree but I'm 90% sure the Devs have adjusted bleed out rates for WOTC because it seems like now its more likely my soldiers bleed out than die, rather than vanilla where there was a miniscule chance anything other than the highest ranked soldiers would bleed out
Reapers are certainly good at stealth. So good you can solo facilities with them.

Research scanners as soon as possible and Assassin shouldn't be much of a issue

All soldiers actually use the hero system, and it's really good because for a cheap price, you can basically spec any soldier down both of their class paths at once.
I also only discovered this just now in the lategame, I thought it was just for leveling up soldier bonds :v:
Tried that mission involving Vahlen's little camp with the super snek early on, little bitch getting free moves each time I did something was dreadful. Many months later, and i've got a full squad of near-Colonels, exos and mag weapons. Let's see how it goes this time.

Can the new classes be applied to your own soldiers later on or am I forced to use the firaxis oc donut steel ones

AP system is great, especially with random XCOM abilities thrown in the mix, because I have Specialist with both medkits and combat protocol, and another specialist who has medkits and Run and Gun. Exceptionally great at murdering ayyliens

Well you can edit them.
Also I'm pretty sure Mox and Dragunova are the only premade ones, subsequent ones seem to be random (or possibly from the character pool I assume).

Reapers have a one-time use ability called shadow, that allows them to re-conceal themselves from the beginning. Regular Rangers get it further down the skill path. Also I think the Reapers can get a lot closer to enemies without being detected, when compared to regular troops. Basically: get in, plant, re-conceal, get out.

Do enough covert ops and stomp enough facility leads using stealth reapers, you could easily keep the game going forever.
