Is WotC worth getting now, or holding off for a sale. I can already get it at a reduced price but I'm just uming and ahing now.
I was really on the fence about the price tag for a while but man I absolutely do not regret it now, get it if you're not strapped for cash. The game just feels alive in a way it didn't before.

I made an exception for this cause XCOM is addictive as hell and I didn't regret it.

I can already get it at a reduced price but I'm just uming and ahing now.
It's sort of worth getting for the amount of content it provides. The one single feature (for me, that is) that makes it absolutely "worth it" is the how the missions are much more varied with WotC. Thanks to Chosen, SitReps and the Lost that come with much more XCOM/EW-ish, less open, less transparent maps - it'll take a while before the missions start getting samey. It's really fun and adds a lot of content. At the same time the more I play the more I can't help but really feel like the expansion was rushed out the door compared to EW. It's lacking in balance, some features are outright broken or bugged. There're many mods on workshop currently that are bugfixes that should've been a day-one patch.

I never actually completed xcom EU The first terror mission always broke my back by killing my best soldiers early and cyberdisks destroyed me. I never even got to psychic soldiers or mechs. So I decided years later to have another go Ironman normal difficulty. We get to the terror mission. And to save my campaign heartbreak I take out every good soldier I'd be using and have 5 rookies. All alive and 15 people saved Those fuckers pulled through and now they are sitting near the top of the barracks along with my majors God fucking speed I just got psi ops up, and firestorm planes, what are the damn near essential things to build/research What other tips/ticks should I be looking at.

It's one of the reasons I keep coming back to EW (or Long War, specifically). Once you've got firestorms you're pretty set as far as I can remember (or maybe they don't have that much prerequisites?). Training up more soldier replacements should be a priority to survive the late game, though. Someone always tends to die when the late-game shit hits the fan.

The final mission 'temple ship' cannot be failed, you just restart it over and over till you win. The most OP and broken things in the game is Ghost Grenades, Ghost Armour and Memetic Skin. The AI just takes a turn off and does stupid things if you all go invisible. Stealth Satalites completely counter abduction missions in territories that have satalite coverage, effectively ends the alien ground game, it's worth while keeping 1 country free from satalite coverage so you can farm mission rewards if you need them. You only need 1 firestorm per continent with EMP or Fusion Lance to handle the airgame, 2 per continent means you are 100% safe. Archangel armour + Snipers with damn good ground and Squad sight are completely OP.
Also you never need to get the best fusion Lance thing for the firestorm, the EMP cannon is better and you can get it earlier.

Kind of wish they'd make a comeback. They were terrifying but their design is so cool
The poster feature is the best part of wotc
Praise fucking be, someone finally ported of some of the stuff from Valkyria Chronicles. [t]https://my.mixtape.moe/hboozw.jpg[/t] The brightness is kinda odd, and the uniforms can't be colored/camoed, but it's something at least. I've been waiting a year and a half for something like this. Hopefully someone can come along and touch them up, but it's just fantastic this exists at all.

Guy also did a voicepack, but it doesn't include all the characters and is in japanese. [t]https://my.mixtape.moe/wzutlr.jpg[/t] Man I'm just so excited this mod even exists. It was such a longshot that it would even happen.
I made a Star Wars-themed save quite a long time ago. Never really got too far into the game though, but I felt like sharing. [t]https://i.imgur.com/UVeXw87.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/TZNYhAH.jpg[/t] I had like four different Storm Trooper variants, Darth Vader, some "Imperial Officer" variants, and a lot of robots. Preston Garvey from the Fallout also found himself in the game.. [t]https://i.imgur.com/MgGbgsR.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/51CVoKc.jpg[/t]
That shot percentage is way too high.

Long war EW question, do you get XP from the mission / kills even if you Evac from it, i have a vague recollection that you could at least in previous builds. Got a landed large and no real chance of beating it really. But the XP could be handy for my C team.
yes

i just did two facilities, one guerilla op, one council mission, one supply run, an ambush mission and a chosen stronghold in a single month and i feel like the game should give me a month vacation for it
i just did two facilities, one guerilla op, one council mission, one supply run, an ambush mission and a chosen stronghold in a single month and i feel like the game should give me a month vacation for it
you're working too hard commander [editline]30th September 2017[/editline] im sure the aliens will understand if you just take a week off
If we're doing the 'I want 'x' in Xcom Format' then I guess it's time for me to yet again say the gameplay and strategic layer of X-Com is tailor made for a Stargate game, it is litterally a match made in heaven. The nerd in me dreams of gearing up the squad while standing in the gate room infront of the ramp. Gate chevrons all lit up. Then hitting the launch mission button and having the team all turn around, the gate engages "SG 'x' you are clear to proceed' and they run through it. Loading screen then cuts to the Traveler on route screen on an SGC monitor. And bang, your entire team dies because the world had blackhole on it. God fucking damn it world why hasnt this happened yet.
I would kill for an XCOM-style Star Wars squad combat game
It'd play just like the original but replace chryssalid with Jedi/Sith.
A swath of Chryssalids, Brutes, flyers, and zombies is why I DESPISE Terror Missions, and Osaka is just the cherry on top.
you're working too hard commander [editline]30th September 2017[/editline] im sure the aliens will understand if you just take a week off
"Commander, the stress of Commanding can take a toll on even our strongest of Commanders. We'll have to give them plenty of time to rest and recover after this mission".
i just did two facilities, one guerilla op, one council mission, one supply run, an ambush mission and a chosen stronghold in a single month and i feel like the game should give me a month vacation for it
cant wait for the next expansion that adds a tired status for the commander
cant wait for the next expansion that adds a tired status for the commander
If the commander is tired then every turn, there is a chance that a random soldier's action hotkeys will all be shuffled.
