Chosen weapons are ridiculously OP
I gave the katana to my blade-spec'd ranger Colonel, he killed 4 mutons in one turn with reaper
Mutons aren't able to parry katanas?
Assassain pops out of nowhere and does guaranteed damage on one of your guys, then runs away to a spot you can't even see half the time.
She's the type of Chosen you sit around with as she's stalking you. You need to actively scout for her maybe two turns in and try to reveal her. Or just throw a battle scanner down on yourself every other turn or something.
The assassin is the only chosen that's actually interesting to fight. A bit annoying at times, but atleast she does things. The warlock spends too much time either hiding in a corner or running away, and the hutner wastes most of his actions on usless abilities.
But the assassin is also a weeb. She's probably got a room full of anime.
Here's a photo one of my captured soldiers took.

To my knowledge they only parry melee attacks that wouldn't kill them outright.

They also won't parry Bladestorm stuff.
They will parry bladestorm. Muton counterattack is just a chance on melee. Any melee attack can be countered, including reaction ones like bladestorm. They can still counter killing blows too for some reason. It just seems like they're less likely to counter killing blows.
In my last stream, my templar got stunned by a reinforcing muton dropping on top of them and triggering bladestorm.
I never understood why mutons could block melee, it seems like that just reduces your options without adding depth. Melee is already a high risk high reward sort of deal, why restrict it further in this random case? Seems like a trap for new players so the game can laugh at you for not knowing about a mechanic that's never telegraphed. "Didn't read the wiki first, idiot? Have a bayonet, next time do your homework"
is there any way to go through muton melee counterattack?
is there any way to go through muton melee counterattack?
Flashbang before attacking it with melee would work I imagine
You would think Lightning Reflexes or Fortress would prevent something like that. Like, a Templar can rush a sectopod and go untouched. But mutons just happen to be able to counter that somehow?
you must shooty shooty the muton booty
Is there any practical purpose for melee in XCOM 2 aside from the very early stages? A blademaster Ranger can one-shot regular ADVENT troopers and Pectoids without breaking a sweat or missing, but aside from that I can't see a purpose. You could sword-slash the Archon, or you could get point blank with Run and Gun and deliver two face-fulls of "fuck you" with Rapid Fire. Or just one face-full if you get a crit, or just get a Gunslinger to Revolver Ocelot the dickhead out of the sky.

If you have blademaster it's a guaranteed hit on a lot of enemies, not to mention with upgraded blades you can stun/disorient enemies or set them on fire. It allows you to conserve ammo, useful if you're out of rounds and don't have an autoloader. Just like anything else, it's situational. It's all a matter of preference, but I personally blade-spec all of my rangers, then buy conceal with training center. It's saved my ass enough times for it to be worth it.
I prefer to blow shit up

Speccing towards blademaster can net you some free kills or guaranteed damage. Anything else though and you might as well leave the swords to rust.
I was playing an ironman campaign, suddenly the game crashed while on the avenger. I rebooted and tried to reload the game but I get the 'Failed to read save game, this file may be corrupt' message.
What the fuck do I do now?

Invest heavily in Melee classes for your next run
Guess I won't be touching ironman with a fucking ten foot pole ever again. Is it so fucking hard for it to ensure the new save is valid before deleting the previous one instead of the other way around?
I'm so bad at this game lol. Every time I try ironman classic I just get bored and make dumb decisions that get my guys killed. I guess I just don't have the patience for it.
Still love the game to bits though. Watching Beagle's long war playthrough and I'm at ep 49, love watching an actual competent person playing the game.

Mark my words, I will die before playing ironman legend again.
At a weird point now where Commander difficulty is too easy (until the late game) and Legend difficulty is too hard

Actually, there was a solution that I ran into that solved it - I posted my process before but that was a few months ago. It involved opening the game in Debug mode or Development tools, watching a replay of the save in question or the most recent save, then having the new auto-save generate from that? I was looking it up while I was typing and I found what helped me:

Also, you can try using Piniform Recuva to find an auto-save and keep trying to get one that will work with the solution above.
When I ran into this similar problem, that process helped me and I only lost about 2-3 sessions' worth of work as opposed to my entire run. I hope it helps!
I've tried the debug replay technique but it doesn't work, maybe because I was in the avenger and not in a mission when it crashed.
I don't know what Piniform Recurva is though, I'll try it.
got all the dlc with the sale and i do not regret anything
Well, I finished XCOM:EW and I just have to say one thing:
FUCK Sectopods.

Heat ammo bro.
Heat ammo bro.
-nvm I thought you meant reaper rounds derp-
Heat ammo is a Heavy skill and arguably the better one on the level if you consider just how many enemies towards the end are mechanical.
Also, I'm trying to install TexMod for a texture mod in my second play-through and the tutorial said to plop TexMod in the WIN32 folder and change it's name to "XComEW", but not each time I try to run EW it just opens Texmod.
The tutorial is this , any help?

Figured it out, I picked the wrong app to launch, I made it so that it ran itself
