Scope on wood and metal SVD is acceptable. Red tiger-striped AK-47 however is a travesty [editline]26th May 2016[/editline] there I said it, unlike mbbird who just made a non-post every time you posted an update
because there's literally no admonition whatsoever by the people that like this or the guy making it that spray painted AKs or bronze receiver SVDs are anything but perfect. not even as a version option, but as the only ported texture. there's no getting to people like that over a forum post, especially without "threadshitting", so putting it into words isn't worth it. a picture of a camouflage AK-47 speaks worlds for itself about the author and the production itself to the right people. it speaks so much that you need only quote the image. so much misplaced effort.

The dude's working his ass off to port weapons to the game. The least you could do is tell him clearly what you find off with it instead of being a passive aggressive asshole.

If you so desire to have your AK without any custom camo/color, the option is right there. Should you have taken the time to actually read what he wrote in the workshop description of the AK47, you would have known that: FEATURES -You can apply camo and custom colors to the AK-47. If you had such a problem with it and were concerned with the custom models only coming with camos and colors you don't like, you could have acted like a normal human being and easily posted it as a question. And what kind of logic was that exactly "no getting to people like that over a forum post". The guy literally asks for you to give him feedback. You giving a few "....." and a dude is not helpful. As for how much these images supposedly speak to the right people, I can tell you right now that to all people you look like a complete ass.
Just ignore Mbbird, all he ever does is shitpost anyways.
What. The dude's working his ass off to port weapons to the game. The least you could do is tell him clearly what you find off with it instead of being a passive aggressive asshole.
Plus he is porting Nifs IIRC, and those aren't exactly the easiest models to work with
You can never please everyone. That's something I've learned over the years. Yeah, you don't have to use any camo, the option is there. It's not like I'm forcing everyone to use some spray painted purple AK/SVD.
Is there a way to make weapon sound cues work for the entire burst instead of every single bullet?
First off, did you copy the Soldier animations for the weapon and the Weapon Animations to your own package? You need to go to the Animset Editor, find the weapon's animations and go to the FF_FireA and FF_FireASource (whatever it's called), add a new AnimNotify and below add a AnimNotify_Sound. Add the SoundCue of your choice. That sound will play every time the weapon is fired. The next step is to find the soldiers animations, and go to the AnimSet Editor. Go to the AnimSequence Tab and find "AnimNotify_FireWeaponVolley". You can then set the weapon burst rate, or whatever its called. Make sure you are using your custom animations on the weapon archetype, and not the default animations. If you have anymore questions, you can add me on Steam if you want. [editline]26th May 2016[/editline]
Plus he is porting Nifs IIRC, and those aren't exactly the easiest models to work with
I had no trouble with the Nifs, since all I did was export them to obj with Nifskope.
Could you perhaps make an AK74 as well, if possible?
Could you perhaps make an AK74 as well, if possible?
Yeah, the AKs and AR15s pack has a AK74. I'll do that when I have time.
What. The dude's working his ass off to port weapons to the game. The least you could do is tell him clearly what you find off with it instead of being a passive aggressive asshole.
because being nice on the internet is difficult for me apparently. sorry for not being playing contrarian in a nice and direct way. I'm used to alternate opinions getting me banned, so now I just make a small amount of non-posts that hopefully express what i'm thinking to at least some people. [editline]26th May 2016[/editline]
FEATURES -You can apply camo and custom colors to the AK-47.
which reads to anyone that hasn't already downloaded as: "you can change the camo color" because there are no pictures without camouflage applied, neither here nor there. (User was permabanned for this post ("Threadshitting, was on last chance" - Craptasket))

OK, I'm sorry for angering literally the entire thread. Let's restart: Why camouflage?
OK, I'm sorry for angering literally the entire thread. Let's restart: Why camouflage?
Because who wouldn't want to use this gun?
OK, I'm sorry for angering literally the entire thread. Let's restart: Why camouflage?
Ok, let's clarify things here; the camo on the gun is not the default appearance. What he was trying to show was that he was getting XCOM's camo and color system to work properly with the gun.
Because who wouldn't want to use this gun?
Did an alien shit out the poor weapon or what?
Did an alien shit out the poor weapon or what?
It's the new Psionic ability they're adding with Shen's Last Gift.
The Dragunov SVD is almost done, just gotta publish it. The default look: [t]http://i.imgur.com/4DcfIis.png[/t] The customization is a little different. I did this because I wanted to retain the wooden stock texture for the weapon. You can color the weapon, but it won't affect the stock/foregrip: [t]http://i.imgur.com/vS0zHPF.png[/t] If you apply camo to the SVD, then the stock will change with the camo: [t]http://i.imgur.com/fiZYxer.png[/t] If you use the bottom colors (94-97, I think) this happens (I'm not sure if anyone will see it. [sp]The camo is there but without the secondary color[/sp]): [t]http://i.imgur.com/gpjgKFa.png[/t] Finally, a promo shot: [t]http://i.imgur.com/pJMgWMg.png[/t] EDIT: [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/260460543549037581/98B57CABE5EEE49DD433972565249783D8E7974D/?[/t] Steam Workshop release: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=695027658
Phoenix Point screenshot and art released
Here’s the first screenshot from Phoenix Point, the new open world strategy title from original XCOM: UFO Defense creator Julian Gollop. Gollop and his new studio, Snapshot Games, will be demoing the game at E3 in Los Angeles later this month. “Phoenix Point is an XCOM style of game with the modern presentation and tactical mechanics of the Firaxis reboot with an open world, strategic level reminiscent of the original X-COM,” said Gollop. It may only be one screen, but there’s plenty of detail in there. And as an added bonus, here’s a bunch of art below showing off the giant enemies in Phoenix Point. Players can target specific body parts, and these monstrosities will mutate to counter your tactics.
I don't know, but I think those things are more intimidating than Sectoids...
XCOM: Crab Battle
Phoenix Point screenshot and art released
I love how this guy is melded with his guns. Great example of showing alien takeover without telling.
Not sure how to feel about the monster design but obviously we're going to see more.
I don't know, but I think those things are more intimidating than Sectoids...
Not a very intimidating name for the first one though. I can hear Tygan's voice in my head right now. "At first glance, this life-form appears to be human, but on closer inspection, is actually half crab. The men have taken to calling this creature...the, uh. Crab Man"
Got kinda bored yesterday and started making icons again. I've took some advice from the last time I done this. This should be in orthogonal view. MGS2 Lite: [t]http://i.imgur.com/MBNd5lL.png[/t] Vector Outline on blue background (kinda like a blueprint): [t]http://i.imgur.com/aV8BqWQ.png[/t] MGS3 Lite (made this one by accident): [t]http://i.imgur.com/wmGWQXy.png[/t] MGS3 version with darker colored stock, handguard, and reargrip: [t]http://i.imgur.com/ZVyA59C.png[/t] I'm not sure which one I want to use. I kinda like all of them.

I don't trust or give thought to screenshots or concept art for anything. Give me a decent clip of footage taken while running on some reasonably powerful hardware.

I'm done with the AKS-74un, just gotta upload it to the workshop. I decided to dress everyone up as Gurlukovich's mercs including the man himself, using NinjaNub's MGSV BDU pack and Capnbubs' Headgear: [t]http://i.imgur.com/8TbSPgW.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/lxyKSIS.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Lo5ngwT.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Dx8ItcN.png[/t] Some extra screenshots: [t]http://i.imgur.com/RQI6qdL.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/9IUNAuw.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/boEmLgB.png[/t] EDIT: [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/260460543565774852/1C0F567CE916D446A1ABF41E8BA592F4703D80A0/?[/t] Steam Workshop Link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=697655402
Looking good yo, keep up the good work. Also, any chance you could possibly add a PKM/RPK/Pecheneg as a LMG replacement? (Or really big AR replacement.)
You should really post a tutorial soon
You should really post a tutorial soon
That might take a while, and unlike creating a voicepack, a million things can go wrong with 3dsmax, Maya, etc and I have to troubleshoot that. I've yet to decide what to do for the tutorial. If you really want to know, you can add me on steam and I'll walk you through.
