I want a mod that just chooses random models at the start of every new campaign to replace with a bright color flashing cube about the size of a person only for the duration of that campaign.
Why?
I'm almost done with the three weapons that I said that I would port, the XM177E2, XM16E1, and M16A4.
M16A4, with a removable carry handle and ironsights (3rd screenshot):

XM16E1, comes with an optional retractable stock upgrade (Also notice in the 3rd screenshot that I replaced the default shell casing with 5.56mm shell casings.):

XM177E2 Commando:

There are still a few things I need to iron out, then I can release them. I also changed the animation for the M16A4. I've recycled the Mag firing animation, and made the weapon fire 3 rounds every time a soldier pulls the trigger (they do it twice).
Decided to just buy the base game.
I wouldn't pay $5 for the cosmetic pack, and from what I've seen it looks horrible anyway.
The Alien Hunter DLC just sounds terrible in general.
If that final DLC ends up being decent I don't mind just buying it on it's own.
Was not expecting a 25gb download for the game either!
I've finally released the three AR15s:
XM177E2 Commando:

Also the aliens themselves are horribly unbalenced. They Literally play by their own rules.

The suits look excellent if you recolor them. The berzerker suit resembles a sneaking suit if you color it black.
im fine with the rulers themselves, but the armor just looks bad. sure you can recolor it but still. from the trailers it kinda felt like xcom 2 would take a bit of a darker turn but honestly with the dlc they've came out with it feels really cartoony. there hasnt been a serious, dark bit in the game or the dlc.
Idk, the aliens pretending to be good fellas while [sp]melting civilians down to molecules in order to get some DNA juice to create hybrid aliens and the perfect psychic creature for their own needs[/sp] seems pretty dark to me.
its so obvious though. it doesnt really feel special. they could have explored a lot more with the story, with terrorism, hostages, most of the human race believing in the aliens and actively trying to work against xcom...I guess I was expecting something with more grey morality instead of fuck yea humanity aliens are the worst cliche. and now things have devolved into mad max anarchy and alien outback hunting, wearing their skin as their armor.
Xcom has never been about the story or morality though. You shoot the grey men from space and their big buddies and you save the earth. Then next time you do the same but now you're on the backfoot but it doesn't matter by the end of the game because you're as strong as ever.
Xcom 2's entire story appeal is based on the first few levels where you're actually an underdog, soon enough you overpower the aliens and the feeling of being an underdog is replaced with "Why is there a Codex I'm not hacking a mainframe?".

There's no reason XCOM has to be so two dimensional though.
There's nothing wrong with it, I just don't like that we go from scrubs to space marines in a few months ingame time and they could totally have implemented more of the story into the gameplay, like having an approval rating based on how much of the environment you destroy in a mission and how many civilians you kill, and if it's low civilians will have a large alert radius, if it's high they won't alert you at all. Shit like that. We see smaller resistance cells but they never come in and provide any backup ala the scrub guards during the base defense mission in Enemy Within.
It's just kind of a wasted potential overall story and gameplay wise.
It is as though the marketing team did a few drafts of something that seemed cool and would sell well, then passed it to developers and told them to make the game about it.
Damn i started a new Ironman save with alien hunters installed. I get the Dr.Vahlen mission with the viper king. I had no idea what to expect so i took some pretty heavy damage before i met him. Finally get to him, all soldiers are low. Seems Pretty Dire, and it was my main squad.
Then one of my soldiers instakill it first shot with the 10% on the weapon.
Wait, repeaters work on the rulers?
Holy shit.

Just like that one time my soldier insta-killed a Berserker with 10% chance and turn later a Gatekeeper blew up with same 10% but from a different soldier.

yea, theres a mod that disables that. they'll probably fix it but patches are like every 3 months or so, so you can still try to 'abuse' it for a while.

Repeaters are meant to work on rulers.

well thats stupid :v:

I will agree on that the game feels lacking in some parts. Would've been cool if you could create some of your own propaganda to help spread the truth about the aliens and XCOM. Which in turn could have a gameplay effect.
Okay, it seems like some people are requesting that I ask Millenia if I could port some of his weapons from Weapons of the New Millenia mod for Fallout New Vegas. Honestly, I'm not sure if he ever gives permission to port his weapons to other games. Should I at least try to ask him? Does anyone know if he does give permission? This is probably the wrong place to ask, but I need a general consensus.
Also, here's a screenshot from yesterday while I was testing the weapons. I found out that you can use Ninja Nub's MGSV BDU Pack with Tier 3 armors, including the WAR Suit, so I made this.Warning: MGSV Spoilers
Might as well ask him. Worst thing that could happen is he says no. But it'd be hella awesome to see his models in game.
Having repeaters in this game was a mistake. The functionality of insta-killing in a game where enemy HP can stack high like on a Sectopod is just ridiculous and doesn't fit in my opinion. I mean it boils down to "why don't we just put a Superior Repeater on everyone's gun and save ourselves the trouble of shooting them further". The reason why people like the mechanic is because it's overpowered and only something XCOM can do, which that alone makes no sense. We get the attachments from dead enemies, yet apparently they were just carrying them and not using them. Imagine having an Advent Captain with a superior repeater and just getting that luck on the first soldier he fires on, that wouldn't be fun now would it.

I love repeaters because there's a chance they can break you out of a sticky situation, but I wouldn't mind a slight nerf to them. I wouldn't mind them being changed to a suppressor, "this soldier's first shot has an X% chance to not reveal the squad."

On a similar note, stealth only missions would be nice. Its possible with mods to stealth a mission, but you get no rewards. Recon missions could have rewards like a metric ton of intel
They don't need to be nerf, if you don't like them simply don't equip them. Either way I only have them on my Rangers and Sharpshooters because its more realistic that a armor-piercing sniper shot or fusion projectiles hit something vital rather than some standard-issue rifle.
its just stupid because this is meant to be some ultra hardcore game on higher difficulties yet they have some bullshit instakill item your whole squad can equip that can make every encounter trivial. kinda throws balance out of the window.

What a terrible argument. Even if you decided not to use repeaters they'd still get in the way of you getting other attachments.
Then make a mod that removes them. TBH I don't see an issue.
