What the hell, my guy climbed on top of a wooden shack thingy to end turn, then one of these Faceless monsters climbed up there too, and whacked half of my guy's HP off. But the Faceless monster's strike brought down the entire shack! The resulting fall took the other half of my soldier's HP, killing him, and the Faceless monster also took damage from the fall. I think it was an acceptable death.
I think I've had Faceless miss more attacks than they hit, or die in the first turn they reveal themselves through reaction fire.
I think I've had Faceless miss more attacks than they hit, or die in the first turn they reveal themselves through reaction fire.
I remember thinking how I'll hate the Faceless during my very first playthrough. Turns out it wasn't them, but the fucking Stun Lancers that I should fear.
Pack enough explosives and there is nothing to fear. Except collateral damage.
Pack enough explosives and there is nothing to fear. Except collateral damage.
You mean acceptable losses?
Pack enough explosives and there is nothing to fear. Expect collateral damage.
Fix'd.
You mean acceptable losses?
Of course. Most of the buildings belong to ADVENT anyway right? That way, you also damage their infrastructure. It's a win-win really.
Of course. Most of the buildings belong to ADVENT anyway right? That way, you also damage their infrastructure. It's a win-win really.
I think he was talking about human life. Not the buildings.
I think he was talking about human life. Not the buildings.
No such thing as civilian casualties. If they got hit, they were obviously ADVENT spies.
Anyone not pointing a gun at ADVENT or cheering at the sight of brave and stalwart XCOM troops is a filthy race traitor.
Not mine, but someone else on the workshop just released a mercenary version of the plasma rifle. It looks p. baller, I'm looking forward to the seeing merc versions of the rest of the plasma weapons.
What does merc version mean? From another game?
No, it's just supposed to look like a rag-tag mercenary weapon.
No, it's just supposed to look like a rag-tag mercenary weapon.
It always bothered me how sleek the teir 3 gear was in XCOM 2. It looks more alien than the alien tech.
Yeah, it's a shame there's no armor mods so far that adds custom-made T3 armor with a more militaristic look. Halo Reach Mjolnir armor can only get you so far...
Just finished my first play through opted for veteran difficulty first before i hop into the harder stuff. That final mission was total bullshit, I played it properly twice and got fucked in the final room on both attempts and so on the 3rd try i cheesed the final room with camping, while it was an easy and stress free affair, it was excruciatingly long. Did not enjoy that mission at all. [sp]Just throws too much shit at you while you're fighting an Avatar that can escape out of sight, throw in the codexs doing the same shit (i had 5 spawn in a single turn on my first attempt ended up being like 12 active as a result of the copies), and then to top it off the other 2 Avatars, ended up being a clusterfuck, absolutely hated it. In the end I resorted to camping the final bridge, i'd dominated a gatekeeper and used it to destroy all the cover leading out and got all the zombies i could with it to act as cannon fodder and distractions, and as it turns out i'd put a few of them in good places to actually bitch slap 2 avatars and kill em. I sent the gate keeper in to draw them out 'one' activation at a time, took fucking ages but the killzone worked. [/sp] Then the timed missions where you have to get a VIP of some sort, not a massive fan but that could be fixed with adding more turns. I get that it's to force your hand and take the fight to the enemy, but everytime i did that i always activated another pod. At the very least make it so you have the time limit kick in only after you've been spotted. The other 'timed' mission in the defending of a network, litteral fucking nightmare, make the aliens have to find the damn thing first like Exalt in EW instead of giving me 4 turns to make it from the start. Exo suits allowed me to play Edge of tommorow roleplay though and that was fucking cool. Lastly, as you guys have said above, i don't like the aesthetic choices for the tier 3 armour or weapons. It's nicely detailed stuff but I just don't like it, not a massive fan of the tier 2 armour either but i loved the T2 weapons. Aside from that, highly enjoyable game.

Yeah iv'e been looking at the mods already so much stuff which fixes nearly every issue i have with the game and all this customization too.
I hope they stick with MECs being surgically altered cyborgs in shen's last gift, instead of just making them mech pilots or something.
I wonder if they'll make it like you can have psi troopers or MECs, but not both
MEC Psi soldier, I can see a mod like that coming
Once the MECs do come out I'll make a voice pack of the cyborgs from Tiberian Sun Cyborg - 0:21 Cyborg Commando - 1:58 Cyborg Reaper - 3:45
Once MECs come out I'll update my Moonbase Alpha VP to have MEC-unique lines.
Once MECs come out I'll update my Moonbase Alpha VP to have MEC-unique lines.
Speaking of, really enjoying your pack so far. I love the hilarious lines like "thirteen thirdy-seven thirteen thirdy-seven thirteen thirdy-seven" when he goes for a hack. Johnathan "Moon Man" Madden is currently my highest ranked Specialist, incidentally, and is a valued asset to the team.
Man I'm so looking forwrad to MECs, especially with the increased level of destruction in XCOM 2 and the fact that we have mods. Imagine doing a facility raid with 10 hevaily armored MECs all equipped with big-ass melee weapons, just pushing through the ADVENT forces like they're nothing. I seriously hope we get to see MECs wrestling Sectopods, smashing Andromedons and tossing around Archons like toys.
I kinda doubt we're going to get full blown MECs, but an "augmented" class with one side being cybernetic upgrades and the other being biological upgrades. Probably borrowing some abilities from EW.
Or just regular-sized cyborgs.
Or just regular-sized cyborgs.
This is probably most likely, I can't imagine Firaxis would just go "oh here's MECs again k bye", I would see them doing something similar to them but not retreading that exact ground.
I kinda want MECs like the ones in EW. Slamming mutons in the face with a giant robot fist was one of the most awesome things you could do in EW.
