I've done it with the Tracer and Garrus squadmate mods.
You need to do this for the icons: [url]http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=649017632[/url]
For the slider, you need to know what the DLCName that you used from the last tutorial. Make a new *.int in Localization with the name of the DLCName. E.G HL2Combine.int if that's the DLC Name.
You need to add these lines in the new .int.
[X2DownloadableContentInfo_*] - Replace with whatever the name of the X2DownloadableContentInfo s
PartContentLabel="Half-Life 2 Combine" - Use whatever name you want
PartContentSummary="Adjust the likelyhood that new soldiers will appear with blah blah blah" - Tooltip description.

I'm working on the AUG right now. I figured out how to make the hands hold onto the vertical grip, after a lot of testing. It's better if someone made better vertical grip animations, but whatever, this'll work.

Since XCOM soldiers can become zombies, it probably isn't a large leap to setup zombie NPCs.
I feel very compelled to look over the SDK.
The next obvious step is headcrab enemies.
