E3245.... You are my fucking hero for Xcom 2 modding
Question, do you guys consider the possibility of implementing the different skin versions of genji? Chrome or Nippon? I think the latter espically would be fitting adding a country theme to genji since you can't put a flag on him
Working on both Chrome and Carbon Fiber. I don't have the Nihon skin at the moment, and I doubt anyone else does. I'll see if I can extract it from the game.
So before I go full fanboy on xcom 2 and expressing hope, I'm curious if anyone else here have a opinion if they should continue to support xcom 2 via updates and additional content via dlc and expansions
I believe that they are gonna announce the Expansion Pack for XCOM 2 a couple of months after Civ VI is released. It's pretty likely that they haven't finished up with XCom 2 just yet. I think the Enemy Within Expansion wasn't released until a year and a month later after Enemy Unknown was released, so I'm hoping that this is the same case.
I would love for continued support and content.
I would love to see more updates and content, updates to keep the game current, and if they have more content then they should definitely bring it in. If they run out of content then I'd like to think they'd renew the message of 'Everything we've wanted is in, let's see what more you can do'. I've loved how they've handled XCOM2, and now with Shen's last Gift the game is kind of 'complete' (unless there's a War Within style expansion' I wonder if they'll just update it from time to time and let the modders spread their wings with it. Sorry, that went a little long, I really enjoy XCOM2. TL;DR I would be happy for more updates or expansions and other continued support for the game.
Game's 45% off right now, just picked it up! Very excited to finally get my hands on this one seeing as I loved XCOM EU so much. Any good mods/pro tips for a newbie to this game

Any good mods/pro tips for a newbie to this game
I'd suggest playing vanilla first with only cosmetic items. But here's some things which i recommend which fix problems without changing the core game at all. Gotcha, so you no longer move a soldier to get a better shot on an enemy, only to find out that a twig has blocked your line of sight and you no longer have a shot. Mission Time remaining, you actually don't have to do missions the exact moment they show up, but the game does not tell you that, in fact it wrongly implies the opposite, this mod helps you manage your time so you can 'delay' staring a mission for whatever reason. Tactical Zoom out, so you can see what you're doing, vanilla is like play a FPS with fov set at 50 imo. Stabalize me, if your soldier with the medpack starts bleeding out, they can be rescued with the medpack they have on them if another soldier comes over to use it. Stop wasting my time, overwatch All/Others AND evac all, speeds mundane things up. and Lastly, a personal recommendation which does change a gameplay feature. Panic mod Always Hunker, I got sick and tired of seeing my troops run towards the enemy when they're supposibly scared shitless. And Stop Drop and Roll, because my troops had a tendancy to spontaniously combust outside of a fight for no logical reason and then slowly burn to death other the next 3 turns and there's nothing you can do to stop it if there's no water in the map or you don't have a medkit. And as a Pro Tip, When out of concealment never make a move into the Fog of War unless you can react to it, even if it's litterly a 1 tile move. Clear a path through the metaphorical minefeild with a scout and then have everyone else follow that exact path without deviance because unlike EU/EW you WILL alert another pod if you don', honestly i cannot stress this enough, everytime i thought to myself, "It's only one tile" the game read my mind and fucked me over. Also, if the AI has a unit that can see 1 of your troops, it will know exactly where the rest of your troops are unless they are in concealment, and as such the computer will make 'Blind' moves that flanks one of your soldiers or gives them a shot on someone in the open that it should not be aware of.
big old bump for absolutely no real good reason between buying XCOM: EU/EW or XCOM 2; which is the better purchase?
Both are fantastic purchases, I'd say EU/EW for cheaper but XCOM 2 for better modding support
I'd get XCOM: EU/EW, I personally have almost 1k hours on it, and only getting bigger. Its a hella fun game and if you want to send even more rookies to their deaths, the excellent Long War mod makes it all the better. I think EU/EW is more bang for your buck, but XCOM 2 makes modding really easy so I guess it kinda balances itself out?
Well, if you can run it, defo go for XCOM 2 and fill it up with mods. If not, EW. Either way, both games are solid and there's no real wrong choice here.
big old bump for absolutely no real good reason between buying XCOM: EU/EW or XCOM 2; which is the better purchase?
i have a spare EU key (not EW) shoot me a PM if you want it
Make sure you get EW with EU if you go for the original, EU on it's own is alright, but EW elevates the game into greatness. Also, long war mod makes the game alot harder and as such it's not for everyone. For me It reached a point where it peaked, but it just didnt know where to stop, they kept going, broke their own in game rules and ruined it. Xcom2 is more of the same, looks really nice, has some really neat features, is more refined in certain areas, bloated in other and of course has the Mod workshop for practically infinate ways to change your game up. Eitherway though as others have said, both are good games.
XCOM 2 is 25% off at UK.GamesPlanet.com at the moment (from the base price of £34.99 ($44.52)). It's currently £26.24 ($33.39). https://uk.gamesplanet.com/game/xcom-2-steam-key--2896-1?ref=itad
So here's a question, has anyone though about what xcom 2 be like if someone modded in jetpacks like in the previous game or the original or is that going a bit weird for people that went rogue on the world to save the world from the world that they have become thanks to the aliens
Got a new computer so now I can max out XCOM2': graphic fidelity. I fell in love with it all over again. Such a pretty game for what it is. Ended up starting my first playthrough on Commander Difficulty...did Shen's Last Gift mission pretty much immediately (second ever mission in my game). Never again. Never fucking again. I hope the pain and deaths it caused my crew will be worth it in the long run with SPARK units running around now. If I had known beforehand just what I was expecting to walk into, I would have waited for at least magnetic weapons. Most frustrating experience so far and with the difficulty spiked up from a "normal" game, everything practically worked against me. Satisfied to have finished it despite multiple reloads.
If you think last gift was hard, you're gonna love rulers [editline]5th October 2016[/editline] Honestly I loved playing through last gift, usually I keep the dlc missions off cause they can be costly but all in all I thought it was really strongly designed. Shen can carry you hard seeing as she's got 3 robot nukes too
TBH, while XCOM2 is still really fun, I honestly like EW more. I really like the feeling of "rising to the challenge" rather than "underdogs against the world". I also find the up in lethality of XCOM2 is frustrating.
I find deaths in XCOM2 a lot less punishing as you go through the game, a couple of months in you don't need to deal with rookies, you get vet soldiers are rewards more often, you can train up psiops without sending them on missions and they're great at protecting other soldiers even though they suck with regular weapons.

I dread that mission on commander difficulty though. Then when the bosses come, I'm fucked. I already know it's gonna be virtually an instant loss for guys once they make their way into the scene. I did love the awesome abilities Shen and Central brought to the field though. Both missions were still pretty cool and fun despite wanting to pull my hair out during Shen's Last Gift :v:
I remember the boss just makes me wish I can break the roof and have it plummit down to earth faster than it can kill my men so many times

I love the struggle but simply put, im sick the back teeth of playing gatecrasher over and over again because the game meta fucked me. I can control how my troops fight and take the blame for fucking up there, but i can't do shit about the first 2 rewards being Rookies, stun lancers showing up in the 2nd mission, a VIP extract mission without concealment and a UFO shooting me down because i couldnt avoid it. I'm not saying the start should be set in stone, but I've had absolutely flawless starts ruined because the start ddint reward me with things i needed to get the game rolling, the run previous to the one i'm on now led to this in the middle of game All because i didnt have any engineers and no way to aquire just one.
yeah im totally done with this game, it's just not even fun. commander is actually impossible for some reason, I had a full squad setup nicely, onto my first retaliation. Sniper propped up on FULL COVER and high ground, gets killed instantly on a 35% shot then my ranger panics, immediately runs into the faceless, dies because he was right next to a car specialist gets posessed by a sectoid, sectoid makes him take cover next to a burning car, kills both him and the sectoid and my spark just simply cant outrun a faceless and hose him down at the same time, so it ended up with me just sprinting turn after turn until i got overdrive, only for him to regen all his hp during our game of cat and mouse and he crits me on his first hit like i seriously dont fucking understand what im supposed to do here, there's no strategy because every time i set my guys up for success with nice ass cover and great 90% shots, they all fucking miss and the enemies land 3 35% shots in one turn like am i just fucking retarded or what because if you guys know the big secret to actually enjoying yourself id LOVE to hear it cause i cant get a fucking refund thats for sure [editline]18th October 2016[/editline] Like seriously I've got all sorts of UI mods that help me plan out my strategies, hell I've even got the mod that gives me an engineer and scientist right at the start to help alleviate RNG pains because god knows that in my first month all im gonna get is rookies and income increases!!!!!!

Every game ends the same way, mag weapons and predator armor, half leveled squad, me desperately trying to get to the region I need and always coming up just a day or two too late when the countdown finishes.
Not sure what to say, seems you guys got really fucking bad luck
Not sure what to say, seems you guys got really fucking bad luck
I still blame me, I focus more on squad survival and progress than the geoscape. It's super costly though to get communications networks up though. Intel, relays, contact time, research, building the communications centers on the Avenger. It easily takes months of focused effort on just that to get rolling on the geoscape. And spending supplies and time there means neglecting getting squad equipment, so everybody's a naked rookie with an expiration date on their forehead. I only ever won once, and that was because I reloaded so many times to guarantee that nobody ever died.
im just sick of it, really. I just started a game on veteran ironman and lo and behold im breezing through it with no issues, its boring as shit i want to be challenged like the first game, not shit on constantly because i didnt optimize my path perfectly. That's what Legend is supposed to be for

I had to learn this in XCOM ew classic mode. 35% means one out of three shots will hit. If getting hit is unacceptable, then getting in a position with a 35% chance of getting hit is unacceptable. Hunker down or break line of sight because you cannot just risk everything based on a 65% chance of things going in your favor.
